Things you like better about Winter

I hate summer. Winter is only a step above summer. There is nothing I love about summer though. At least winter has a ton of holidays and birthdays, sweaters, boots, wool pea coats, hot chocolate, baking, fires, etc. If only the snow/ice would never stick on the roads and we had more daylight, I could become good friends with winter.

I know I wouldn't like living where it snows.

I love Winter because of the warm clothing, decorating for Thanksgiving & Christmas. Plus - this year, in early December, I have a girls-only trip to Disneyland and then DH & I go there in late Jan.

We get very little summer rain, so the hills get so green and pretty in the winter and Spring. Very brown hills right now. I can take walks in the afternoon then too - too hot now for me to take a walk in the middle of the day.

No bugs! I love summer, but I hate all the bugs... Oh, and having to weed.

Born and raised in Arizona, I have come to hate the summers. Its unbearably hot so no bbqs with for the holiday (Memorial, 4th of July, Labor Day). We end up just staying inside as its too hot to even think of firing up the grill.

There aren't many indoor places to take the kids and we get burned out on movies, bowling and Peter Piper Pizza.

It's 90 degrees when you go to sleep and 90degrees when you wake up and thats considered cooling off.

And it lasts forever. We can't even think about the temps cooling down until maybe Oct but most likely November.

Love about our winters that there is no snow to deal with, we still get to wear sweaters and boots, my house is always freezing so we put on the blankets, socks! ( I don't wear socks at all in any other season!), the good holidays- Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas! YAY!

I wouldn't mind winter either if I lived in Arizona.

I love the peaceful silence in the early morning after a snow storm. Summer is just not as quiet.

Hockey Season - Go Bruins :cheer2:

Cooking! Soups, stews, casserols, things that warm your inside

Driving in the snow :drive:

Remote car starter :cool1:
I'll agree 100% on the hockey. It is the #1 reason to like winter.

I'll see your soups, stews, and casseroles (hate casseroles though) and raise you our chili we make from the tomatoes from the garden that we are just about ready to start freezing.

I don't mind driving in the snow at all. I just hate the fact that every year, everyone in Pennsylvania has their very first experience in snow driving each and every year. They can't even remember how to drive in it when we have snow covered roads for a month straight, then 2 days of nice weather to clear them, then snow again. The memory and skill of driving in snow is completely erased from their minds during that 2 days.

I despise having to go out and start my car and turn the heat on to soften up the 2 inches of ice on the windshield. That is the absolute only thing I am jealous of you automatic trans drivers about, the remote car starter. Wish I could have that, but there is no way I could drive an auto for it.

Waking up at 5 am to find 24 inches of snow that I have to try to force my car through to get to work trumps all that though. It makes none of that above enjoyment.

DITTO! It was 112 deg here today.
I look forward to being able to wear jeans again.

I look forward to not needing the a/c on in the house and the car at all times.

So, what are your temps in the winter? It's always funny for us folks up north when people talk about long pants and sweaters/coats when it is 70 out. I always can't wait until it is above 60 out so I can break out the shorts :thumbsup2

there are pros and cons to every season. I love the long lazy days of summer, but I hate the humidity.

Fall is my favorite season, but I do like things about the winter. I love the Christmas season, the first snowfall. The first big storm (as long as it's on a weekend!) Like a pp said, I love that there are less bugs, no humidity etc.

There are three things I like about summer - thunderstorms, longer days and no homework/dance classes. :lmao: But that's about it.

Winter - no humidity that hits you like a wet wall as soon as you walk out the door, no bugs, no plague-like swarms of mosquitos, no sweating like I'm in a sauna, no lawn mowing.:crazy2:

Both DH and I are cold weather fans. Actually we prefer the autumn temperatures, that is our favorite time of year because of the leaves falling, crisp air and HALLOWEEN!

Down here in AL you get about three weeks of nice spring weather before nature's sauna cranks up and then we are counting down to October.

DH is going to school to get his master's so we are hoping for a career change/move to the OR or WA area - we have relatives in Portland and they love it there - plus the scenery is pretty darn spectacular.

How could I forget chili!:thumbsup2 I have to say our tomatoes from the garden this year are the best ever - so darn good!

Remote car starters do rock. And when we get those big storms I just bring home my work laptop and work from home ;)

No wonder I love winter so much!

Nothing!

I hate winter.

I hate snow, ice, hockey, or anything outdoors. I hate finding hats, scarves, snowpants, boots, hats, gloves for 3 kids. You need to put everything on the heater to dry. The kids lose half of their stuff at school and the stores start selling spring stuff in February so you're out of luck.

I hate waking up half an hour early so I can clean the car everytime I leave the house. I hate driving on icy roads.

I hate that it's dark at 5:00.

I hate gaining weight in winter because all I want to do is eat mac and cheese or mashed potatoes.

I hate not being able to sit outside on the patio.

I hate winter!

Curling up on the couch with a good book, a warm blanket, and cup of coffee or hot tea.

Wearing jeans and sweatshirts, and being able to wear my hair down instead of up to keep it off my neck because I'm too hot in the summer.

Watching a gentle snowfall from the bay window of our family room.

Making homemade soups, and fresh breads in the breadmaker.

A nice vacation to Florida and/or a cruise in January.

Staying overnight in an inn that has individual fireplaces in the rooms and enjoying a crackling fire in the evening, cuddling on the couch with DH and enjoying a bottle of wine.

First-run episodes of my favorite TV shows (Grey's Anatomy, Private Practice, Mike and Molly, The Big Bang Theory).

Not having to mow the lawn.

No bugs and mosquitoes.

Less busy time of the year for DH, so he has more free time.

Going to school/college activities for the grandchildren.

Drinking hot chocolate is the only thing I can come up with. Well celebrating Christmas is wonderful, but I wish it wasn't in the winter.

Give me hot and humid weather any day. I can't get warm in the winter.

Yep, me too. Count me in. Agree agree agree!
