Things you hate that everyone else looks forward to

Work lunches off site
team building games
events where people are drinking heavily
Sounds like these might all be connected?

I would say charity golf outings. Love to golf but
not a fan of the scramble plus the slow pace and long subpardinner. Done enough probably at least 50 or more

Valentines Day
I worked my way through college bussing tables and would watch couples go to great lengths to wait HOURS for tables, not to mention I always had to work this day. UGH! DW knows that day before, day after, I am all in, but the actual day? Hard pass.

Halloween
I am forever traumatized about picking out the dumb costumes to go trick-or-treating when I was a kid. hated it - every second. I don't get this holiday at all.

Playing on sports teams
Watching most sports in person or on tv, including the Super Bowl.
Being a sports mom.
Going to brunch on holidays.

Twister, after you draw the short straw and they make you wear the jumpsuit with all the colored dots. :rolleyes2

Going to a bar or club. When I have no choice but to go, like when I'm at the shore with my sister and brother-in-law and they stop so my brother-in-law can have a few before heading home I squirm. (My sister doesn't drink so she drives.) I hate it. I hate the little tables with the high stools, I hate the smell of stale alcohol that most bars have, I hate the too-loud music, I hate the drunks. I'd rather be slathered in jelly and thrown on an anthill.

This sounds bad, but it’s the holidays. Primarily Thanksgiving and Christmas. Everybody else gets to enjoy them but I have to do everything from all the shopping, cleaning the house, all the decorating, all the cooking, and usually all the clean up afterwards including washing pots, pans, dishes, everything, by hand because I’ve never had a dishwasher. I’m tired of it but nobody else will volunteer to host or help for that matter. My husband falls asleep as soon as he’s done eating🙄. They all have lame excuses. One person will bring a dish but the others can’t be bothered. Or my sister-in-law will bring something that is so disgusting nobody will touch it and it gets thrown out. I swear she does it on purpose. They come at the last minute, eat and leave asap so they don’t have to help.

Now that my step-daughter has graduated it is not an issue anymore but for those high school years... Band Competitions.

Holidays that the general public uses as an excuse for drinking. In our home we only ever used St Patrick’s day for learning about Christian missionaries, martyrs, etc.

Neither of us are keen on family events like weddings and Christmas. We aren't mean spirited, but, both our families have members who are miserable gits and everyone seems to want to pander to them trying to cheer them up. My side is my sister and his side it's his mother. This forced jollity does our heads in.
