Things to do while parks closed

Going to be there next week, and there are shorter hours 10am-8pm. I've got small kids, just looking for ideas of fun things to do in down town disney or walking distance from South harbor.

Go swimming if your hotel has a pool. You can also bowl at Splitsville.

Consider a character meal. Goofys is great on arrival night since it’s the only character dinner outside of the parks. If the parks open late you could eat at Storytellers. Does Minnie’s take reservations before it opens on late days? Not sure of that but I know it works on EMH days.

Unfortunately DTD is pretty dead right now with all the construction. Rest up for your parks days?

You could walk down to the Anaheim Garden Walk (shops/restaurants)

How old are your kids? Would they enjoy the Lego Store? There is a small outdoor area where the kids can play -- many kids enjoy spending time there. There is a face painting kiosk right by there, too. That could be fun for your kids. There are two fountains in DTD (one by La Brea Bakery and one by Splitsville and Tortilla Jo's) that can be fun for little ones to look at and dip their fingers in. Sometimes there are live acts throughout DTD. Watching the caramel apples be made at Marceline's Confectionery can be fun. (And then go in and buy a treat to share!)

Check out The Void, it’s that newer VR thing in DTD. You can go online and make reservations in advance if you have a particular time you’d want to do it. I haven’t done it yet, but am planning on trying it out in a couple weeks!

i think there is an minimum age requirement for The Void, so the OP should check first to make sure the kids are old enough.

ETA: if the OP's family won't have had dinner yet, the kids might enjoy Ruby's Diner on Lincoln (about 5 minutes or so northeast of the parks -- an easy Uber/Lyft/taxi ride). Young kids love Ruby's!

They have an age minimum of 10, but they don't really enforce it. What they are looking for is the minimum height, which i think is taller than most ride requirements at DL. 48". So if they can ride Incredicoaster, they are good to go.
We had a kid in our group who just turned 9 and we told them. They said he's tall enough, so it's fine.
