Things to do other than Disney & Universal

Ahhhh I was thinking about going to the upside down house :lmao: on this trip!!!! Can I ask how old your children are/were? Our girls are 6 and 4, would they enjoy it or are they too young??

Thanks,

Ali :goodvibes

i'm trying to remember how old they were when we went there, but i think they were already in their teens...
probably around 12 and 14 years old...

they really enjoyed it.....they always like geeky interactive stuff...(like in science museums)...

plus there was laser tag, which they love...

looking at the website, they've added new things since we were there...

i think your best bet would be to call them up when you're in orlando and ask if there are activities that would also interest your kids....

i just looked at the pricing page on their website and they have a price for kids 4 to 12 years old...
so that means they expect kids as young as age 4 to come....so presumably they have activities for kids that young...

as most of my posts revolve around food, i have checked on the menu for the cheesecake factory, but in which mall - i thought i had done them all, and have never seen the CF...

As far as I can remember Clearwater took us about 1hr 30-45mins. We were constantly looking at things around us ( the bay, water etc ) and so the last 30mins went really quick.
I was really surprised to see the dolphins in the water. We also walked along Pier 60. People can fish of the end and we saw a chap hook a realy big sting ray. It was a lovely day.

Pier 60 really comes alive when the sun goes down.
Locals and tourists alike will gather around the pier to watch the sunset, plus there are street entertainers and local craft people selling their wares.
Check out the calendar on the website below before you go and it will let you know what is coming up.

CF is in Mall at Millenia - well worth the trip:)

A couple of more places to bear in mind:

Mount Dora is about an hour's drive from Orlando. Just a few streets but it has a number of quaint little shops and cafes.

Big Cat Rescue is a charitable body which rescues ill-treated lions, tigers, cougars etc etc. It is also a "retirement" home for ex-performing cats. Just past Tampa International Airport it is about and hour and a half's drive. Scheduled tours take about an hour or so and you could easily combine this with a trip to Busch Gardens

The Antique Boat Festival is really good. We went a couple of years ago. The Dragon Boat Festival should be great fun at Easter. And a change from the parks. Bear in mind, though, that they are at Tavares, not Mount Dora, a few miles away.

We always have to take a trip to Celebration, and have a wander round the lake, take a peak in the shops and have bite to eat in The Market Street Cafe.

I second this - we love our trips into Celebration, so relaxing to sit on the rocking chairs round the lake after a nice meal in The Market Street Cafe:cloud9:

We usually make a Sunday morning trip, have breakfast in the Market Street Cafe followed by a walk around the Farmers Market checking out the locals crafts and wares.
We often come away with a few things that you wouldn't find in any of the other tourist shops.

tthat sounds like a good idea, we were looking for a calm sunday morning activity- do you have to get there early or is 10ish ok? does the farmers market stop early like here in the uk?

If you enjoy walking round the lake at Celebration, there are actually three lakes - interlinked. The furthest one has some absolutely stunning lakeside houses. Well worth a look.

We spend 'down' days doing more relaxing things. I would say of the three attractions on Idrive (Wonderworks, Titanic and Ripleys) we only really found Ripley's worth the money, we weren't keen on Wonderworks at all, and I think it was more expensive to get in to.

We also go to Congo River golf, which is quite entertaining and pretty cheap. We've had a walk around Celebration too, which was lovely. :)
