Hi All! I was wondering if anyone could tell me their favorite things to do in Boston,Salem,Lexington, etc.

Thanks~!

Boston:
New England Aquarium
Museum of Science
shopping in Fanuil Hall market place (lots of places to eat too)
Lots of people also enjoy the Freedom Trail; I have not done this, we had a field trip there but never finished because of bad weather

The Duck Tours!! So much fun! They take you on a riding tour of Boston, and then the "cars" go into the water, and you drive around in the water for a while. It is great!! :flower:

I love the Freedom Trail in Boston. The city is so historic and it's a lot of fun to walk in the footsteps of famous American patriots. Be sure to stroll through Boston Common and the Public Garden. Quincy Market can be a fun stop for a quick meal.

Despite my Yale background, I also enjoy a stroll around Cambridge. Harvard is interesting and there are many neat stores in the vicinity of the university. In the past few years, the formerly staid MIT campus has erected a few architecturally significant buildings. If quirky modern architecture interests you, then you should consider a brief stop at MIT.

Boston is a wonderful city. Enjoy it!

Late September weather changes all the time. Most of the time it's cooler, nights probably 40's, maybe cooler, days usually 50's to low 60's. Virtually no humidity. Occasionally though we have an "Indian summer" where the temp shoots into the 70's or 80 for a day or 2. But the hot weather never stays long. So be prepared for anything.

Thanks everyone! Does anyone have any suggestions on cities North Of Boston?????? Has anyone ever been to Salem? Thanks so much!

North of Boston, don't miss Marblehead and Gloucester.

Salem is beautiful, lots of historic things to see; the House of Seven Gables; the Witch Trials, the Peabody Essex Museum, started by an old sea going family, full of things from the orient.

My first thought is....Take a plane to somewhere else!Sorry, I'm from Mass. and while it's nice, I just don't see it as a vacation spot,to each their own I guess.

Are you just going to the Boston area? If so, the stuff above posters said is good for that area (be prepared that the Duck Tours are very fun, but fun=$$$).Also,if you or anyone in your party likes football or soccer,Gillette stadium isn't too far away(south).I believe they also hold concerts there. How about seeing the Blue Man Group?

Salem has all the wich stuff, Lexington i don't know.If you belong to AAA call and get a guidebook for Mass.

I live in western Mass, so I'm really more familiar with this area.If you decide to head out this way, let me know and I can think of stuff for yopu to see/do.

If you're going in Late September, it is possible that Salem will be gearing up for Halloween. It's the BEST time of year to visit there. The atumn leaves have started to change and the weather is crisp and cool. I Live in florida, so visiting there was a perfect change for me. Ahhh smell the fall air.

that being said: Check out:

1. Peabody Essex Museum
2. House of Seven Gables
3. Witch Dungeon Museum
4. The Witch House
5. Salem Wax Museum of Witches & Seafarers
6. Salem Maritime National Historic Site
7. Salem Witch Museum
8. New England Pirate Museum
9. Salem 1630: Pioneer Village
10. Old Custom House

Visit the Cemetary and bring items for rubbing, you can (if they still allow it) make some beautiful rubbings of the old grave stones. Take one of the Haunted tours, and don't forget to visit Laurie Cabbot's Crow Haven Corner. It's a great lil shop. Things to bring back as souvineers: Witch cut out magnets, t=shirts and leaves.

When visiting Gloucester, make sure you see Hammond Castle. Especially if they have it decked out for halloween.

Have a blast and make sure to get some apple cider while you're up there.

If you or anyone in your family is even the slightest bit of a baseball fan, take a tour of Fenway park. They're offered many times, even when the Sox are in town.

Coming in late September? Rent a car, and drive an hour north of Boston, into New Hampshire, and bring your camera. The foliage should just be starting to turn up there around then, and words simply don't do justice. I've seen foliage in most parts of the country that have something to offer, and this is as good as it gets! The more off the beaten path you go, the better it gets.....

September is absolutely one of the best times to come up here...enjoy!

Hi everyone!

Has anyone ever done this tour or is it something that a mother and her daugter can do by themselves in a rental car?

New England Seacoast Full-Day Tour
From Boston, journey north into Hampton Beach, New Hampshire. Take in the beautiful beaches of this summer playground and grab a quick snack on your own. The second stop lets you stretch your legs as you explore the rocky coast of York, Maine, and its famous Nubble Lighthouse. Kennebunk and Kennebunkport are prime examples of the beautiful Maine coastline. The tree-lined streets frame 18th- and 19th-century homes built by the merchants and sea captains who called this quaint village home. From Walker Point, you can view the summer home of former President George Bush. The next two hours are free time for shopping and exploring Kennebunkport before heading back to Boston.

Thanks! Also, does anyone know any really cutsie towns north or east of boston (near salem)??
Thanks

Anyone have any pictures they want to share with me of ma?

Also who has been to the yankee candle flagship store??

We have been to Yankee Candle in S. Deerfield many times, very neat place. It's like an indoor mall- you can run in for something quick if you know where you're going, or spend 4 hours there just poking.

Sorry, this one hit my funny bone. The only thing east of Boston is the Atlantic Ocean!

Be sure to check out the North End of Boston-rich in both history, and GREAT Italian Restaurants!
