Things to do at night?

Hi All,

We're off on our first trip to Disney in Orlando this August (can't believe how quick it's coming round!), we've almost decided on what passes we'll buy, but we haven't as yet looked at things to do at night? what would the experienced traveller recommend for two adults and a twelve year old?

We go in August too!!!

We find more and more that the evenings can be more enjoyable than the days. I know that sounds funny with so many great theme parks, but we really enjoy a nice meal out and a stroll around a resort.

We have two girls, who will be 9 and 7 this time.

I won't go into all the great restaurants as that is a whole different thread, but places to try....


Boardwalk - a lovely spot with street entertainers, great bars, and a lovely atmosphere.

Polynesian - afer maybe a meal at O'Hana's, stroll to the beach and watch the Water Pageant, and then if the timing is right stay there for the fireworks over the castle. Cocktail in hand, this is very nice.

Epcot - A great place in the evening with ROE being stunning, and again many great places to eat. All the countries look great at night.

MGM - Fantasmic - it is great...nuff said.

MK - Spectromagic. Unmissable.

Downtown Disney - some great shops (and yes you guessed it more places to eat). Ghiardellis for a fantastic ice cream sundae. Also has some clubs, and I've not been myself but many rave about the Adventurer's club.

Disney Quest - an indoor theme park that would certainly fill more than a night.

Basically any WDW resort is worth a visit, but particularly the deluxe ones such as Wilderness Lodge, Animal Kingdom Lodge and Y&B Club.

I'm sure I've missed many others from my list, but I'm sure others will be along soon to give their favourites.

That's great advice Craig, thanks for that! I'll be looking into those..... Trying to make the most of our first trip, we'll be off-site in a villa...

... or you could just try resting your tired feet by your private pool, with a nice (plastic) glass of something and then having an early night!

Cirque Du Soliel - is a really amazing (but pricey) thing to do one evening - it is however worth the money. Not so much a circus show, more like a top Westend musical with acrobats etc

Animal kingdom hotel to see the animals, followed by a meal.Stroll around the hotel, and look in the shop(they do have things here that not all the disney shops have.
You can do this for all onsite hotels(day or night),my DS who is 11 loves it, Wilderness lodge is our favorite!
Drive up to the barrier and tell the man that you are visiting(you will need to show your passport or some sort of photo ID).Its nice to do this for a lazy drink, or a sit down meal.

I can only echo, whats been said about spectromagic,Illuminations and fantasmic!,and if your DD wants a real laugh, book a PS at the 50s prime time Cafe, this was the highlight for our DS.

PS= Prority Seating

You phone disney direct 0014079393463.
Tell the person which restaurant you want and at roughly what time you want to eat.Sure is nice to breeze past the queing crowds(and they do get very busy!!).Although the time is not always a guarantee that you will be sat at that time, just that you will be given the next avalible table.PS's arent always needed, but we ALWAYS book them anyway as you never know!!!!.

You can do this for all restaurants in the disney parks, that allow PS's.There is also a restriction that if you want to book a PS you can only do it so many days out of when you require it, currently 180??
So pays to be organized with a rough plan, of what youre doing when so you know when to book.Im sure somebody will post the link for the PS calculator, which is a website that you type in the dates of when,where and what time you want and it gives you dates of when you need to phone to book them
