What else am I forgetting?

We’ve rented at High Grove and didn’t need to buy laundry detergent or dishwasher soap.

We did buy toilet paper.

Hand soap, dish soap, and garbage bags were provided.

We bought shower soap/body wash and hair products.

What else am I forgetting?
Kleenex boxes, napkins, Cling wrap, air freshener.

We made the mistake of thinking we needed a lot of stuff for the house and then found out after we checked in that much of it was provided or left behind from other renters. We wasted money on stuff we didn’t need. In the future, I will wait until we see what is at the house then stop at a Publix or Walmart to only buy what we need.

Depends on the host. The last place we stayed had no starter hand soap. Also some places don't supply any cleaning products (eg: Windex). The place had a glass table and my son should spilled chocolate milk. If there's a dishwasher also dishwasher tablets, plastic bags, garbage bags. My husband thinks I'm crazy but I just bring a good amount of the stuff from home. A handful of plastic bags, garbage bags (about 1 a day), dishwasher tablets, sponge, laundry tablets, dryer sheets, shampoo/body wash, etc in our checked bag. Laundry tablets mean you don't have to pack as much clothing! Some places also have no salt and pepper or any seasonings. Look over the house rules carefully.

We did this with an AirBnB this weekend. I should have asked the owner ahead of time. I ended up with a few things I didn’t need to buy.
If you rented from an owner, I would just email and ask what is provided.

You can expect to either bring or purchase your own personal care items - shampoo, body wash, etc.

Most vacation rentals are considered "self-catering" that is, while there may be some items either provided by the owners or left by previous renters, you are expected to bring/purchase most items yourself. For example, there may be one or two garbage bags or dishwasher tablets but if you are having a longer stay, you may have to purchase more.

I usually have a combination pack/purchase list and I always wait until I have been to the house to buy anything so I can assess what I really need.

I usually pack: Baggies, Dishwasher Tablets, Laundry Pods, Dryer Sheets, Salt, Pepper and some other basic spices, sugar, sweetener

I check at the house for: Garbage Bags, Paper Towels, Tissues, Hand Soap, Toilet Paper and then buy what I need
