Things that gross you out in WDW!

because, sure they could ban it, but it won't stop people from doing it. it's better to try to regulate and have 90% of the smokers in designated areas, rather than ban it and have 100% smokers wander around lighting up.

I'm a smoker, but i stay in the areas. I'm also vocal to people who don't go to the areas. Just as I'm respectful to your needs, you should respect mine as long as I'm going by the rules. But take away my prevledge and I'll easy become another one of "those people" lighting up anywhere.

First let me say that I am not one of those 'recovering smokers' who espouses the evils of smoking. However, I don't understand how the removal of your privilege would then give you the right to break the rules?

Don't get me wrong, I don't smoke either, but you can't outright ban smoking at the theme parks. At least 20 percent of the guests smoke, so it would be killing 20% of their business since the parks are full day affair and most people will just take their business to a "smoke friendly" theme park.

They've made smoking sections in the park that are designed to not bother the other guests as much as possible. As for the gentleman on Main Street smoking, you should tell the nearest CM in this situation and they (or a leader) will ask the man to move to a "Designated Smoking Area" or to put it out until he can move to an area at his leisure.

Truthfully, I'd rather deal with holding my breath through a smoking area than deal with extra irritated people who are hours into withdrawals, or have decided to smoke wherever, around the park.

It is private property they can ban whatever they want.

A smoking ban could be a thing of the future though. Around here there have been cities and counties passing smoking bans frequently over the past few years. Some towns smoking is banned in all public places, except bars where you have to be 21 to enter, and some places it is banned in all public places including bars.

That said, I don't have a problem with smoking being allowed in designated areas, I just don't want to have to smell it or be around it. I have my rights as a non-smoker, but at the same time, if someone smokes, they have the right to do so in the designated areas.

I'm not saying that I would do it out of spite. I'm saying that without the areas, I would be forced to do it where ever I could. Knowing me, I'd smoke somewhere out the way out of courtesy, but I'm one of those who respects people around me. There are other who just don't care.

Regardless, it won't happen, so there's really no point to argue or justify actions.

For now. Yankee Stadium is a Smoke free facility so if it can be done there why not in WDW?

I was just surprised, I live in Maine, and smoking is banned almost everywhere, bars, state parks etc.

I bet ya people still smoke in yankee stadium

Yup in the bathroom but I have seen people ejected at almost every game. Also in my season ticket handbook there something that stated multiple ejections for that reason will result in the forfeit of your tickets and a possible permanent ban from the stadium.

Let me reword that then, Yes they CAN legally ban smoking or whatever they'd like on their private property.

I meant it in more of a "they can't really do it in a business sense" way.
Sorry if I wasn't clear.

People will smoke whether it's "banned from the parks" or not, so they've made smoking areas so everyone can play nice with each other.

That's my point you can't really stop it. Even with an official ban people still do it

I disagree if people have to choose between being banned from the stadium and not smoking while there I think they will choose the second choice.

apparently not if you are seeing people still being escorted out.

Another person who didn't read the whole thread.

Why, the original statement is no longer simple minded because of 15 pages of back and forth?
How dare you tell a woman she should use a bottle!

I take it as a personal insult that my wife, sister, or any other woman would be looked at strangely if breastfeeding, whether you see some breast (gasp) or not. It's fine in this country to over sexualize women endlessly (clothes, TV, movies, etc.) but breastfeeding is a problem? Unreal. Thank goodness my children are being brought up to have more respect for women and the natural processes of motherhood - they would never even bat an eyelash seeing a woman breastfeed.

What part of Indiana are you from? I'm guessing probably not one of the counties that have passed smoking bans?

We passed one... with exceptions...

Any establishment with ONLY 21 and up can still smoke. Our county will never pass 100% - too many factory workers here.

Long story short, unless there is a national or state ban, very few businesses will not ban smoking. Too much of a monetary risk - especially during a time when repeat business is at a premium. It's easier to let the blame fall with the state/national gov't - takes it out of the businesses hands.
