things that annoy you

I have another one:

Cards being passed around the office for birthday/wedding/bereavement/etc. Birthday, I can understand, everyone has one, everyone gets a card. Where does it stop though? A card just came across my desk for a coworker whose cat passed away on Friday. I just think it's absurd to do this, what if another coworker had their pet pass away but never mentioned it to anyone? Why should the one who's outspoken about it get a card, while the other is just as sad but doesn't share it? There's someone else in the department who lost two of her cats a few months ago, and she didn't receive a card.

Office politics. :headache:

i now there is probably another thread like this but i really dont feel like going back 50million pages to find it.

something that really annoys me is the abundance of ads asking 'do you have erection problems?' every night after 8:30pm. there are so many of them.

what annoys you?

You only see them in the evenings? I've seen them in the middle of the day. :headache:

People who put gum under tables.

Trying to find a job and met with pages of now jobs but "make your own career and money" ads that asks you to pay like 50 bucks.
Agreed on both.

I also can't stand rewarding bad behavior. And this goes from anything like bail out money down to letting a kid out of grounding early. If people learn that when you screw up, you pay the consequence, then maybe people will work harder at not screwing up. An example of this is my nephew. He can really be a terror when he doesn't get his way. So when the grandparents take all the grandkids (which is just my 2 kids and my nephew) out or all of us including adults, they always do what my nephew wants. Why, because they know he will throw a huge fit if he doesn't get his way, and they don't want to have to deal with it. Which annoys the heck out of me, because my son even said to me once "I guess since we're good we'll never get to do what we want when nephew is around". Yeah, that's a lesson I want my children to learn, be bad and you get your way, be good and you don't. Now to be fair to my in-laws, they take just my kids out plenty of times, so they do things with them that they want to.

Those are the types of people I just want to reach out and slap and say "why do you think he/she acts this way".

People who throw cigarette butts out car windows or in the sand at the beach. They don't just disintegrate when they hit the ground.

That's another one.

The same goes with any trash.
Especially those that are standing practically nest to the ashtrays or trash cans and still throw them on the ground.

Smokers who ignore the non-smoking signs and still smoke in that area.

When I go to any drugstore to buy my allergy medicine, they have the cards on the shelves, but no boxes in stock. If you don't have any in stock, don't let people think you do so they have to stand in line waiting for 20 minutes only to find out you don't have any.

When there are 2 or more people walking down the sidewalk and they walk side by side covering the entire walkway and won't allow anyone by them. They'll even see someone coming towards them and won't move over so that the person doesn't have to walk out in the street to get past them.

That's all I can think of right now.

People who don't pick up after their pet annoys me like no other thing. If little old ladies who can barely walk and bend over can do it, so can you!

In a "conversation" with someone, where they are doing all of the talking, then when you try to say something, they look at their watch, look behind you, look at their computer screen, eyes glaze over, etc. Excuse me but I looked at and listened to you while you spoke and what you had to say wasn't all THAT interesting but I was polite. Give me the same courtesy.

Can I add my future mother in law to this list?

It's just not been a good day with her..:(

People who feel the need to speak when silence will serve the same purpose.

I quote these, b/c MY MIL annoys me b/c she should know when to keep quiet:thumbsup2 However, she always says what is on her mind- and then follows up with- "I should keep my mouth shut" I am sorry, but it should be the other way around- I am going to share my favorite quote with you all

"Be careful of your thoughts- they may become words at any moment!" ;)

I played it safe yesterday- we had MD dinner here, at my house. I spent most of the time in my kitchen just cleaning up and making everyone platters to take home with them. It was so peaceful. Actually about 1/2 the time my 7 yr old niece was hanging out with me, and we talked about Disney! I was not going to get "caught up" in MILs craziness and make myself stressed out. :sad2: I refuse to put myself through that.

Whoever it was who mentioned the two turning lanes heading in the same direction, if I didn't see NJ in your location I'd have asked if you commuted at the same time as me; I have the same exact situation on my way to work in the mornings, and people are JUST as moronic about it up here!:headache:

That was me- and please tell me you do not let the morons in either:lmao: Someone else mentioned the people that have to drive all the way to the front of the lane when they know it ends- and then want to get in- WTH do these people think they are? Do they actually THINK they are entitled to be in front of you and not sit in line like everyone else?

A few years back- this woman really pi$$ed me off while I was driving. Well- lucky me, we were BOTH going to the same grocery store! I watched her park and I followed her in. She was in the produce dept. and I walked up to her very calmly and said "Um, Driving 101! :scratchin The person making the RIGHT has the right of way when the light is green!" and I walked away for her. She yelled at me that I was a B!%$#. :rotfl2: But I felt SO good that I did that, and I just kept walking (we were at the same green light. I was making my right, and she was facing me, making a left in the same direction. She decided that she wanted to make her left and cut me off in my lane!)

UGH- Ignorance gets my blood pressure rising!:sad2:

I am not tooting my own horn- but I have got to say- I do not do any of the things posted here to annoy people. :flower3: I can almost bet none of us do, b/c we realize how crazy it makes us when other people are inconsiderate, so we are even more aware of it and avoid doing these things.

I would love to start a thread on the Dis that says- "Admit it, you do these things to annoy people" and we can have question and answer time with them JUST to see WHY they think they can do these things?:confused3 (Ok- I know the thread will be closed by page 3- but I really need answers!)

You know there are people out there on the Dis that are guilty of every one of these things!

Where has the common sense gone??:confused3

The co-worker who leaves 2 urgent voice messages and an email with the exact same question. I swear, it's all I can do to keep my anger in check sometimes with this woman.

My only driving peeves are things that could not possibly be done by accident. I have 2 elderly parents who drive like, well, old people. I also have a bunch of new teenage drivers in my life (DS and friends). So when I get annoyed by drivers, I just remind myself that that could be my kid or my parents there, and I become much more calm.

BUT...2 blatantly obnoxious driving habits:
1. Tailgaters
2. Lane straddlers. We have several areas where 2 lanes merge into one before a light. I know that this is debatable, but I say use all lanes til they are gone. Take turns AT the merge point (which, by the way is where all lanes end). Instead, people get their panties all in a wad over who is there first and they straddle the lane, not letting people by. Backs up traffic for MILES onto a major freeway (in one case causing quite an accident). oooh this drives me crazy, it is SO dangerous.

People who put their carts in line and then go shopping some more.

I hate it when they check out it and leave the cart at the check out line, usually right in front of you.

Another pet peeve is people who sneeze or cough and don't cover their mouths. It is digusting. COVER YOUR FREAKIN MOUTH!!!

People singing to themselves in the office - get on American Idol already and let me work in peace.

And people who eat loud. UGH!

A person who tells you something or explains something, you acknowledge that you understand, then they proceed to explain it all over again like you're a complete imbecile. And you keep saying that yes, you got it, but they keep going on anyway.

Yes! I can't stand that. Sometimes I just want to yell at them that I'm not a complete idiot.

People who allow their children to scream and scream and scream -- in restaurants, music recitals, movies....

People who call themselves Christian and behave in a way that Christ would find appalling. Especially when they are pastors. Especially when they are pastors who treat service workers like crap and call them "Stupid" right to their face.

People who refuse to use voice mail and keep calling back every five minutes in the hopes of finding the person off of the phone and then get mad at ME for 'wasting' their time. Listen, babe, I told you to leave a voice mail and you refused. That was your CHOICE, so it's your choice to waste your time.

People who go on about their perfect parenting when you can see that their kids are going to be in therapy for years.

Tailgaters. UGH! Especially tractor trailer drivers who tailgate. Especially tractor trailer drivers who tailgate in heavily-trafficked construction zones with narrow lanes bordered with concrete barriers. Especially tractor trailer drivers who tailgate in heavily-trafficked construction zones with narrow lanes bordered with concrete barriers and who are driving in the right hand lane which is for CARS ONLY. Yes, I'm talking about you, Mr. Red Mack Truck at 4:30pm on I-90 going north of Chicago. I grew up driving in NYC so not much rattles me, but being tailgated with no more than 6 feet between me and that Mack Truck logo in such conditions scared the crap out of me. If I were a less-seasoned driver, it's easy to imagine getting scared and having a horrible accident. If I'd had Bluetooth phone I'd have called the cops on your sorry butt.

Being late.

DH makes us late for everything; including the Mother's Day dinner we're supposed to be at in 16 minutes and he just got out of the shower. UGH

We intentionally started my aunt's funeral 15 minutes late since she was never on time for anything. :rotfl:

My boss.

My boss. (yes, I know I'm repeating myself. It bears repeating, believe me) ;)

Whoever it was who mentioned the two turning lanes heading in the same direction, if I didn't see NJ in your location I'd have asked if you commuted at the same time as me; I have the same exact situation on my way to work in the mornings, and people are JUST as moronic about it up here!:headache:

Happens here in CT all the time also. Ugh, I want to smash into their car just to teach them a lesson. :rotfl:

-People who pass those things around at work. The one where their child is going somewhere. Choir trip to DC, sking trip to the rockies, band trip to FL and on and on and on. They pass this huge envelope around and ask YOU to put YOUR money in to send their kid some place. Sorry, I have to support my own kid. If your kid wants to go someplace, then you get to pay for it. That is what comes with having a kid, financial responsibility!!! :headache:

-I work customer service and I can't believe the number of idiots we get on the phone who seem to think that it's okay to eat while talking. OMG, didn't your mother ever teach you any manners? It is one of the most disgusting and rude things I have encountered at work. I don't care if it's your lunch hour or not, I don't want to hear you smacking your food around. I have had to bite my tongue, so as not to say anything to them about it.

People who seem to think that they are so important that they have to constantly being talking on their cell phones and then give you "the look" because you aren't being quiet enough for them. That just makes me talk louder. :rotfl:

When people complain about how much stuff their kid has yet they buy the kid more stuff everytime they go shopping :confused3

Call Waiting; I really don't like it when you're on a call with someone and they ask you to hold because they have another call coming in. If it's important, they will either leave you a VM or call back. Unless you're expecting an urgent call, I think it's just rude to leave one conversation to have another.

I get super annoyed at people that you know see the road work signs. The signs are big, are everywhere in bright orange or yellow. They see the lane closed signs. Yet they ride the lane that is closing all the way to the blockade, then put their signal on to get in front of everyone that followed the signs.

It's especially annoying when the lane to proceed is as long as Texas is wide, and packed tighter than a can of sardines, but inevitably there will be a bevy of people that want in the very front. It makes the lane go that much slower. Ugh. :headache::headache:

That's another one of my annoyances. My best friend will do this to me sometimes. If you don't want to talk to me, the tell me and hang up.
