Things I would never have done without the DIS

Without the DIS I would never have met the truly amazing woman that I did 

2600 miles and family obligations makes “US” near impossible right now, but I will always hold faith.

I can assure that if God wants it to happen between the two of you, 2500 miles is nothing he can't handle!

Someone out there needs to gather these stories (there was at least one more posted in this forum) and write a book one day.

Would not have known about:
  • The dessert buffet in MK -- which I'm doing this trip!!!!!!!!
  • The ticket orice increase
  • Ride closings
  • Free dining dates
I love disboards!

Can someone clue me on the lime green mickeys and tshirts I keep seeing posted about, thank you!

Lime Green Mickey head is a disboard Icon. You can go to Home Depot to the paint swatches and snag some of the mickey head paint samples they have and make things out of them and wear them to WDW when you go and other Disers will know you are a Diser also and my say hi to you. I made button pins out of mine and put it on whatever bag I am carrying. I also hung one from a ribbon and put it on my review mirrow in my car.

here is a link to another thread about them:

Is anyone going to answer about this hidden Epcot museum? I also would like to see it.

I would have never know about the Transportation Trading Cards. My kids have really enjoyed trying to collect those.

Get a FP for TSM as soon as I get to DHS
Use a snack credit at the bakery in France
Have a QS meal at Wofgang Pucks in DTD
Do online check in
Even think about making it to Rope Drop!
Make my reservation the minute discounts are released!!!!!!!!!!!!
Make my family t-shirts with help from the DISigners!

Thanks Dis!!

How do I pre-order a photopass cd? How much is it to pre-order versus buying it later? Is there a limit on the amount of pictures on the cd?

I have not been to Disney since finding the disboards but we our going on our first trip as a family (we have all been before, just not all together). However there are some things that I have been working on to take with us and plan to do when I get there.

Without the DIS I would not:

--have made passport books using the great disigns here for my kids to take to Epcot
--known about magic shots and their locations
--known that blister band-aids exist (which will come in handy to other places than just disney)
--known I can check in online to hopefully make my process smoother
--be making pressed penny tubes and collecting quarters and pennies to take with us for some cheap but cool souvenirs
--have found the WDWcharacterhunt website and be memorizing where the characters are and making a list of who I want to see most
--already be thinking about what I want to do for my next trip :rolleyes1

And I am sure there are plenty more!

I love this thread! 1153rsmith, I had never heard of the transportation cards until I saw your post. Just googled them and I *know* my boys will love to collect them. Thank you! :)

I would have never done:

A character meal
Done the "easy" version of Mission Space
Figured out how to use ALL the transportation to my advantage
Figured out an all day touring plan of the resorts to see the Xmas decorations

I picked up the tip about watching Illuminations from the second level of the Canadian pavilion from the Picture of the Day thread.

Go up the steps and turn to the left or the right. There is a nice wall you can lean against while waiting for Illuminations to begin. And for pictures, you can set your camera on that wall so your camera is steady. Also, it was a great place for people-watching before Illuminations started.

Now THAT is something I certainly never knew! :thumbsup2

Frogg Togg Chilly Pads :thumbsup2 Keeping COOL in september is always a plus and I had never heard of these clever towels till I read about it here.

Also thanks to DIS member dcanoli for emailing me the "Theme Park Secrets" mini book for all 4 parks in file card size to carry around the parks with me. I would have NEVER known all those cool little facts had I not found the thread on the DIS. ;)

Plus everything else people here have already mentioned so I wont repeat it all

i never thought of that. i'll have to make note of it for the next time we go. we always try to get a rail side seat on the ground and most of the time are disappointed because of where we are it's not a good view

we bought the chilly pads and didn't find they worked all the much. it was nice to have and when we did see a fountian but i didn't think they did much more then bringing a small towel from the hotel and wetting it.

not either it was just far to hot for them to work properly when we went or they just didn't work well or maybe i was expecting too much out of them.

i expected to be cooled off and have the heat whisked away like it says on the packaging but i didn't find it did that.

  • Have an orange slushie at the French pavilion

What things have you done or are you going to do, because you found out about them on the DIS?

Corinna

Okay, this may be one of mine. Anyone have more info on it?
