Things I learned during this trip!

and you dont go through checkout or anything???

No. Once you pay for the cup you are entitled to FREE refills for the length of your stay.

I bought my first cup during our trip last month. It was awkward for me at first - I kept thinking someone was going to tackle me as I tried to leave the food court with my refill :lmao: - but they didn't.

And while I was skeptical about spending $14 on a cup, I soon learned it was a great deal when the next day I forgot my cup in the room and ending up spending almost $3 for a cup of tea. I never made that mistake again. I had tea at least once a day during our nine day trip (sometimes twice a day) so the cup more than paid for itself :goodvibes

My family has been talking about constructing a carrier for the mugs, so one person does the breakfast run for coffee (we usuallly have breakfast in the room) and can carry four mugs. We haven't perfected it yet, but I notice some people just take a tray and balance mugs on it.

Anyone ever see a carrier for the mugs?

I dont think Shades of Green has the refillable mugs at least they didnt when I was there in May 2008 so maybe they might now.You could call Shades of Green and ask them or just wait till you get there

Hi!!!
I think since they have lids you would be better off just carrying two in one hand and the other two in the other.
I hope that makes sense, I was a bartender and waitress many moons ago.
;)

How about something similar to a 6 pack carton???

I love the mugs. I used the actual mug while at the resort and when we head out to the parks i fill it with iced tea that gets transfered to my water bottle that is on a strap. Once that is gone, i refil my bottle with ice water and use one of those flavored fix things. A water bottle on a strap is by far my must have item for WDW.

the refillable mugs are great! We've gotten each time we've gone-even my Dad who is quite the bargain guy, buys one and loves to go refill it several times a day! We usually take turns doing refill runs and just put the lids on and carry 2 or 3 in each hand. They had a pretty good variety of different drinks to choose from. Last May at the POP they had about 4 different kinds of iced tea, coffee, hot tea, and a bunch of coke products. It was fun trying out all the different drinks-especially the iced teas-all good.

Yeah for Crocs!! I never thought i'd ever put on a pair of crocs until my last visit when it rained every day we were there-all day. Even with the extra shoes we brought we could'nt keep up with the rain. we just couldnt dry them fast enough. Plus after a while of wet shoes I started getting wicked blisters. That's when I saw the crocs at the Pop store during a drink refil run. I notices all the holes in them and thought they would be great rain shoes-the rain runs right out. So I bought a pair and put them on as soon as I got back to the room -just to try them out. Well, to my big surprise they were actually comfy. I immediately wanted to try them out in the rain, so i literally dumped my drink in the sink and ran out in the rain for another refill. My feet didn't slip and slide even when wet inside! They didn't blister my feet. So I delibrately stomped through some puddles just to put them through their paces-the water went in and ran right through, draining instantly. The were perfect. I never took them off the entire rest of the trip:) I even convinced my sis to get a pair-and she's a fashionista! Since then I even where them out and about when I just want comfy shoes. Even in the heat your feet don't really get hot with all the ventilation holes-which goes totally against logic since their plastic. O and they float in the pool and are antimicrobial. I totally reccommend them!! Oh and if you dont want to pay the price in the parks/resorts- go to crocs.com they even sell the disney ones for much lower prices. Watch their site for sales last week they sold the disney ones for 12.00 a pair!! and 9.99 for kids!!

My kids love thier Crocs! I swore I would NEVER wear a pair of the funky looking things, but after reading how comfy they are for Disney I bought a pair for our upcoming trip. I have worn them around the house a bit and I really like them. I have had a pair of Croc flip-flops for a few years now and they still seem brand new. LOVE them! :thumbsup2

We love the mugs. We would put the empty mugs in our backpacks to go the parks, and when we returned we would get refills before heading back to the room.

My hubby loves his crocs. He even took his on our cruise and wore them all the time.

I think the crocs are awesome. those were the only shoes we wore for a week. I didnt have a blister until the last day. They were awesome.

I love it...

I wore my to the zoo last fall while it rained on and off! I loved stomping through the puddles and muck! My DH was not impressed...of course, I think that is b/c he was wearing his soggy sneakers! :lmao:

I am a converted crocs lover...I have to admit I have even worn mine with socks. :scared1:

I also wore them in Hawaii last summer...I have 4 pairs and bought shirts to match. I cannot wait to wear them next summer at Disney.

I am seriously thinking of writing to CROCS and letting them know how much I loved wearing them during my trip. I was once one of those (ahhheemmm) "mocker of crock wearers", but never again! (SORRY) :confused3

I'm totally a believer. :cool1: They will be my shoe of choice for any vacation that requires lots of walking.

I don't remember flavored creamers, you may want to bring your own. Just remember unless you ask for a mini fridge in your room, it will not have one.

:goodvibes

Instead of getting a mini fridge last year I packed a small cooler in my suitcase (pack stuff in it and then put it in the suitcase) then we just refilled it with ice all week long. Going to try a larger cooler this year.

10 days until we go...

I am so glad you had a good time! We usually go during this time but not this year due to the economy. :( I use the same tips. I came accross Crocs a few trips ago and swear by them too. I have arthritis in both ankles but I can do WDW pain free with the crocs. We are hoping to go in Nov/Dec this year but we will see and if we do I plan on using the Early Bird check in also.

We are another family who swear by crocs. We discovered these a few summers ago when the shoes I brought for my DS were killing his feet after only an hour on our first day. The only shoes they were selling at MK in his size were crocs. I bought him a pair and he did not complain again for the rest of the trip. After a few days, I tried them on and could not believe how comfortable they were, so I bought myself and DD a pair. My DH even bought a pair by the end of the trip. We now just by them online at the crocs sight so we don't have to pay WDW prices. They are often inexpensive during the off season.

We take a small bottle of baby powder and powder our crocs every few days. This keeps them fresh smelling and feeling. I am planning on trying the croc flip flops this summer as well.

I just wish the mug was a little larger. It's ok for coffee but two swallows of coke and it's empty:confused3

Absolutely. We used to get them all the time. Now just my wife does for coffee during her morning walk. We get soda from a local store and keep them all in the room refrigerator. :thumbsup2

Some background on myself, DH and I have now been on 4 WDW trips since 2005. Every time we start planning I look on DIS to get ideas, tips, and advice on what we should do and or avoid.

We just got back from our Jan 7 -14 trip and I did a few things differently this time around.

1. I got a refillable mug at the resort. I loved it! I bought it day one, tried to talk hubby into getting one (no, he didn't "need" one, we were on the dinning plan...). I used it every day, several times a day. It totally paid for itself just with my morning teas. And now I have a great mug that will remind me of our wonderful trip.

2. I wore CROCS! Yes, I did just say I wore plastic goofy type shoes every day and NOT ONCE did my feet hurt. This was the best advice I've followed for any trip. Honestly, I have a desk job, I sit every day and do not walk/stand for any length of time. Now I'm not totally out of shape, but going from my normal routine of working in an office to walking for 10 hours a day is quite a change and normally my feet are burning by the end of day one. My legs ache and are so tired; I long go get off my feet and in the resort hot tub for a good soak. Then we start the process over again the next morning. Well, this was not the case during this trip. Crocs are a godsend. I will sing their praises daily and get a new pair before going on my next vacation. I will gladly wear the "oversized" goofy shoes because they are comfortable and I could have walked hours more.

3. I signed up for Early Bird Check in through Southwest. This saved us the frenzied "online check in hassle" at the 24 hour mark pre flight home. Yes it was an extra $10/each for the service, but the day of check out, waiting for Magical Express to pick us up, we had the front desk check us in and bingo, our flight boarding passes and we were group A!

4. We didn't rush from ride to ride. We really relaxed at the parks, taking everything in, slowly going through the various areas and just enjoying. And yes, we did take advantage of the 5 minute wait time and hop back on rides after we had just got off. So fun!!

This was such a relaxed, fun vacation (pain free too).

Thank you DIS for all your great advise.

Where and how do you check in for the Early Bird Check in through Southwest? We are flying Southwest and got tickets booked for April. Thanks!!!
