Things I just do not understand..

Baggers at the grocery store who put everything but the cold items in the insulated bags!!
Okay, here's what I do. I bring two insulated bags and two large non-insulted bags. One is huge,I tell one of those IKEA ones. Anyway, as I shop, all the cold stuff goes in one insulated bag. At the checkout, I put the other insulated bag on the belt followed by all the cold stuff. Then I put the heavy-duty bag on, followed by the heavy stuff. Finally, the IKEA bag followed by everything else. Then I tell the bagger and cashier "these go in this bag, these go..." while looking at the bagger.

Of course, it helps if you're only shopping for one person...

Forklifts are rear steer because they only drive very slowly and have a very short wheelbase compared to a car and on such, it allows for greater control of the forks.

I'm not suggesting cars "should" be rear steer. Just pointing out that having the steering "end" of your car out of the parking space permits more maneuverability. A forklift is essentially a front steer vehicle with the driver mounted facing rearward. And you "back in" to whatever you're picking up.

If you're backing out of a space, you cannot swing the back end of your car dramatically from side to side because the rear tires don't steer. And you can't swing your front tires dramatically from side to side because you're confined by the width of the space. Pulling out/backing in allows more wheel input because the part of your car that turns is out in the open.

Of course the diagonal scheme has its drawbacks too like when some idiot decides to drive the wrong way in one at 30 mph because well he doesn't need to park.

Things I don't understand: the guy cutting across the parking lot at a 90 degree to traffic who thinks he has the right of way over those in the aisles, going the correct direction.

@jevs Violet Crumble is the stuff of gods. There are so many foods and snacks I miss...minties, hundreds and thousands (the cookies), tick tocks... I could go on and on lol

Yes! See, you should have told your mum & dad to bring back 10kg of Violet Crumbles rather than all that awful vegemite :thumbsup2

...What's not to understand? You've got to realize that there are 1000's of legitimate excuses NOT to return a shopping cart to the corral. For example:
People may be running late to catch the Toby Tyler movie marathon on TV.
People are afraid their frozen vegan meals may start to thaw.
They've got to rush to save a toddler from the jaws of a ferocious alligator.
They have to study for their exam about imaginary numbers.
They're anxious to see if the names of their honor students were published in the local paper.
Etc. etc. etc....

Thank you for the absolution, Father. I shall sin no more against Man. :worship:
Except maybe for your toddler v.s. alligator crack. :scared: It's still a little too raw to be funny - just sayin'...

I do NOT understand: "Would you like your milk in a bag?"

What in the world...I mean, really?

Never asked this question before ever (lived in/visited my share of countries and states) until moving to the Midwest.

Now ...I could have nothing but milk in my cart: Would you like your milk in a bay-ag? (Sorry...had to throw in the correct pronunciation) I'm starting to wonder what is it about the milk here that makes everyone want to keep it separated from the rest of my groceries?

ETA: so as not to offend my friendly Midwestern friends...no offense on the accent thing. I have an accent too...not sure what it is...but my husband claims I say envelope wrong. So there's that. But I had to add the accent thing because I didn't understand what I was even being asked for the first month I lived here. Do I want my milk in what?! I'm so confused!

To confuse you even more, in Quebec, the milk is actually sold in bags. You cut off the corner and put it in this little holder thing to pour your milk. It's definitely a regional thing lol

Yeah, in Germany it was sold in boxes. And then we put it in a glass pitcher at home.

But they are asking if I want my plastic milk container inside my plastic bags with my other groceries. It is the only item they ask this about. They single it out every time for some reason and ask if I want it in a bag. It would be like if every time you went to the store they randomly asked if you wanted your bread bagged or not. But automatically bagged all the rest of your groceries. Just seems like an odd thing to ask. I guess in Quebec they'd be putting your bag in a bag.

Btw, I'd love if they just sold the nonperishable milk in the boxes at the regular grocery store. Much easier to buy and store.

I have the exact opposite problem. The baggers would try to fit every single cold item into the insulated bag! It would be overflowing and there they are trying to zip the thing!

I just don't bring the insulated bag anymore. Wasn't worth the backache.

I get it. Plastic milk containers (quart, half gallon) have handles. I prefer it not bagged (saves on the paper/plastic waste). But I know people who do want it in a bag.
They always ask us that too. Back when I drank milk anyway. I want it bagged because sometimes there is leaked milk on the container and I don't want milk souring in the carpet of my Cadillac!

 I don't understand grocery chains who have made their bags increasingly "flimsy" to the point that almost every one needs to be doubled to prevent breaking, when the idea was apparently to reduce plastic waste. I invariably come home with twice as many bags as I ever used to when they were made decently and send them to recycling by the bushel.
