My parents will be going to DW with us for our 18 months old's 1st trip. They plan on keeping her one day so DH and I can go hit the "big" rides, but I don't think they want to take her to a park that day.

So what are some good ideas for keeping an 18 month old entertained for the day? We're staying at WL and it will be Feb, so I'm afraid the pool will be too cold. They won't have a car, so they're pretty much limited to things they can get to by bus.

Any ideas?? :flower:
Thanks!

Could they stroll her (or boat with her) to FW to go to the petting zoo? My parents love to have lunch at the Trail's End over there! There are playgrounds near the area, as well. There are also pony rides there for little, tiny kids--why am I thinking she might need to be three, though???? Hmmm...Something to check into. If she's not old enough she can just look at them...Also, there are the stables over there where she can look at the BIG Belgian kind of horses that WDW uses in the parks. My kids just loved playing on the beach with the sand at that age. Give her a shovel and pail or even just a spoon. Tell your parents to get themselves a nice drink from the General Store or the bar at Crockett's Tavern then walk over to the beach--grab a chair and watch her play...HTH! :)

Belle- Thanks so much for the great ideas! I'll definitely suggest all those to them. :flower:

Anyone else have more suggestions? I think they might keep her 2 days!

My 18 month old loves to put things into and out of bags, buckets, boxes... Like crayons or any of her big sister's small toys. She enjoys play doh, very cheap and not too messy. A ball might be a great toy for the 3 of them too. She throws it and they can chase after it!

Any new area to be explored, stairs to climb, people to watch. I don't think it takes much to keep an 18 month old amused. Also a very long nap is nice.

Your little girl is very cute! Her grands will love spending time with her!

I think when we were at WL last year, that in the afternoon they had the kids club open for parents and children to come and do activities together. You could not leave your child but just spent time with them there. The arcade at WL is small but might hold her attention for a while. Just a boat ride to FW or over to the CT would be fun. The pool is heated so it might be fun for a warm afternoon. Maybe lunch at a monorail resort. TAke the boat to the MK and catch it there. DD is always fun and bet she would love to get her grandparents in the toy store!!!!!

Enjoy this specail trip.

Also check out the activities that WL has planned. We went when my DD was that age and she spent a lot of time just wandering around the lobby looking at everything. We have some great pictures of her hugging the bear on the totem pole.

When we were there they had a rubber ducky race in the little stream. They also have a hidden Mickey tour that I think is self-guided. Maybe she would get a kick out of finding the Mickeys? There is a nice playground near the beach at WL.

They might also check out the toy store and Legoland at Downtown Disney.
