Things from the 70's and 80's that no longer exist... and you miss them.

Sour Cream and onion Doritos

THANK YOU!! I remember these - absolutely loved them, but no one other than my sister every remembers them. Maybe it was a test product here in the Northeast? Anyway, I miss them too!

Does anyone remember Mug-o-lunch? Macaroni and cheese was my favorite. I still miss it.:sad2:

Getting to watch a movie once a year when it came on TV, like Gone With the Wind or Wizard of Oz.

My kids always think it's funny to realize if you wanted to watch a certain movie, you just had to wait until it actually came on tv! No VCR's or DVD's....The Wizard of Oz was once a year and that night we were allowed the supreme treat of eating dinner on a tray table in front of the tv! I loved the Grinch but it only came on ONCE during the Christmas season and if you missed it, too bad. Funny to think of that now!

Farrell's ice Cream Parlors (I heard there's a few new ones around)

a Union Jack brand candy I think was called Toffee-ettes (caramel center, covered in chocolate with a hard shell - way better than Milk Duds)

Jovan Grass Oil Perfume

Pic N Save (a discount store in Florida that had lots of fun stuff at great prices).

Banana clips. I guess they still exist, but they're not stylin' anymore. ;)

Campbell's vegetarian vegetable soup before they "improved" it.

Oldies movie matinees--you can hardly find a matinee anymore, except for an occasional children's movie. A local movie theatre used to run 40s classics as matinees and it was AWESOME to see these old movies on the big screen!

American Bandstand!! I watched it every week! I remember seeing Madonna's first television appearance on AB! I think she sang Borderline.

Oh and I miss Michael Jackson when he was a black man instead of the white woman he is now!!

sctv-with bob and doug mckenzie, count floyd's monster horror chiller theatre (oooh scary stuff) and all the rest of the great characters:thumbsup2

the midnight special with wolfman jack

movie of the weeks (i love it when tv land occasionaly re-runs the better remembered ones)-i think robby benson must have had every conceivable terminal illness know to man:scared1:

What fun!!! Let me relive my childhood.

I could go on and on, but these things come to mind:

1. Sixlets (remember those, the little candies that came in a teeny tube of 6?)
2. Tiger Beat magazine
3. SNL Classics (Remember Rosana Anna Danna?)
4. The Love Boat and Fantasy Island (Saturday nights woo hoo)
5. Baby Alive
6. Evil Kenival
7. Drive In's (Herby the Love Bug hee hee)

I sooo miss The Love Boat (I'm asking for the first season on DVD for Christmas). Sixlets are still around, I just bought some at a fair two weeks ago.

Hatchy Malatchy (a kids show in NE PA-I think it was on WNEP-ABC-at 9AM on weekdays).

You can get lite brite, but it is not nearly as good as it was back then..... far more cheaply made...

The 2 shows you can get on DVD, at least.... Netflix is your friend. :) :thumbsup2
