Things Disney Offers But Doesn't Advertise *Summary Added Oct 08*

free rights of passage on your birthday, to a few specific attractions.

as far as waking Tink goes, if you've never been in Tinkerbell's Treasures which is right behind the castle in Fantasyland, throughout the day, she flies through the store from her box to her drawer - basically a serious of fiber optic lights and chimes (and the drawer has actually been broken for years).

(bolding by me)

can you explain more? Do you mean the drawer that you can look thru the keyhole and see tink is not working? I know there are only "certain" times that tink is in the dresser.. but are you saying that it is no longer functional at all?

If so, that's one thing to mark off my list... don't wanna disappoint DD!

TIA!

the way it's supposed to work (to my understanding) is that tink travels along the walls from her box to the armoire containing her drawer. the keyhole lights up and for a few seconds, you should be able to look inside and see her.

she's inside, but it doesn't light up inside. it goes as far as the keyhole flashing and that's it.

so she still flies around the store (lights and chimes) and the keyhole itself lights up when she goes inside, but peering inside the keyhole isn't very beneficial.

Just something simple to pass along...

If you are in AK and go to the Tamu Tamu ice cream - you can get a rootbeer float with a souvenier (sp?) pluto straw/spoon combo. The float is also a snack credit if you are on DDP.

at the gift shop for "journey into imagination" you can get a photo done where they will superimpose Disney Characters with you in the photo. You can have the Seven Dwarves with you in a photo for example. It's the only place I have see that offered. Pictures looked very cool to me. I forget the price, but I don't think it was much more than a "normal" Disney photo.

I never knew this. That sounds so neat! I think I will look that up when I go in 8 days!

There is also a photo place in the MK where they do this (or something similar). We had our photo made with the Princesses in the background. It's in the Exposition Hall next to Tony's.

Does anyone know specifically how to boost your chances of being chosen for this? I read somewhere that there were "colored" tiles or something in the pavement that if you snagged a spot on one of them that is where she started but who knows. Anyone???

Great thread. At Christmas you can visit all the resorts and look at their lobby decorations. The Grand Floridan does a gorgeous Victorian gingerbread house (that I wouldn't mind living in ;) ) You can also buy a sample and it sells wonderful. At the valet stand they were giving out roasted chestnuts.:santa: AT Epcot all the countries have their version of Santa :santa: come out and tell stories and traditions from that country.

I've heard that it's the first ones who get there, and that she's very good about remembering who was there first.

I know the few times we've gotten there when there was already a crowd, we never got one.

DD16 got one a few weeks ago, but I wasn't there. I'll have to ask her why she thinks she was chosen.

i was actually able to get both kids candy from miyuki in just one session, as outlined in my trip report in the link in my sig. there are lots of things that help. for starters, we got there about 15 minutes before and we were able to watch the drummers. there are a few specifics i don't really get involved in out of respect to certain others, but there are definitely techniques that help. the key factor is miyuki is an artist and really needs to be treated with respect for her craft, which means the objective is not to get free candy, but to watch her make it. more often than not, people can shoot themselves in the foot by trying to convince miyuki to choose them. she chooses who she wants.

I haven't seen this posted yet, but you can also ride in the wheelhouse on the Liberty Belle at WDW and the Mark Twain at Disneyland. Just ask a CM when you get there. At Disneyland I was allowed to ring the bell and blow the horn, while at WDW only allowed to "drive" the boat. It gives you some great one on one time with a CM.

Someone mentioned Janet2k's events on the first page. She has done some very creative events for small groups, including her vow renewal reception in the Great Movie Ride, a dinner for about 10 in the Haunted Mansion movie set at MGM, and a dinner at GF. She has truly been an inspiration to me.

Her events got me thinking  and I decided a couple of years ago that I wanted to do something similar. Well...we all know how it is...life happens and my plans were put on hold.

Fast forward to NOW! I will be doing some "special events" of my own in October. It will be a celebration with a few friends of a very long year for me, my family and friends.

Here are the events that I am doing that I would never have known about, if it weren't for discussions just like this one! :cloud9:

The dinner at the Great Movie Ride (After the park closes)

Grand 1 yacht (this leaves from GF and is $400 per hour)...we will view Hallo Wishes and the Electric Parade from the boat

Private area for viewing Illuminations with a bar, appetizers and desserts

Breakfast in France! (Before Epcot opens)

Normally, I would never attempt to do this much at one time, especially since some of the events are waaaay "over-the-top". In fact, the only other time that I have done anything "out of the ordinary" at Disney in the past 10+ years is doing the Grand 1...2 years ago. We loved it! But, business is great, investments have worked...and most importantly to me right now....Life is Sweet

I have really enjoyed reading this thread. There are so many things that I would never have known about if not for the DIS. Everyone here is amazing and the love we all share for all things Disney...simply priceless :grouphug:

I am amazed at what is possible at Disney!

this is such a great thread! thank you for starting it. i have learned tons of stuff.

Someone mentioned passive agressive water fountains at EPCOT:lmao: ...anyone care to elaborate?:confused3
