~~ They're leaving the nest, sew it's time for a trip - or two - or three...~~ D~'s bag ~9/22 ~~

*HUGS* to you D~ :goodvibes I'm so glad you have a trip coming up so soon so you can get away from your heartache and enjoy your time with Allison.

I forgot to mention yesterday that I didn't think that Forbidden Journey was all that intense. If you don't like simulator type 4D rides then I wouldn't do it, but otherwise I think you'll be fine. Now I didn't find it all that fun, but that's another story.

Awe, D~, I am so sorry! I am not looking foward to this aspect of my girls dating and having relationships. It has to be so hard. I tell my girls all the time, to be careful who they fall in love with, because you are giving that person complete control of your heart. You are allowing them the opportunity to break it. Relationships are rewarding and heartbreaking, for sure. (((HUGS)))

This trip will be so good for you and Allison! The timing could not be more perfect! On our days off we like to do DTD, and spend time at our resort pool. You could also explore other resorts. Boardwalk and Beach club would be great to explore, I think. Have a cupcake or ice cream cone on the Boardwalk. I believe you can get a fairly good veiw of Illuminatons fireworks from the boardwalk. You could also have a treat at Beaches and Cream.

The Chipmunk campfire at Wilderness Campground is super fun...and you will have a special Chipmunk outfit for this trip right?

Awww, so sorry to hear about Allison and Gus. I do hope they can be friends again someday.

So, what would you do? Would you ditch your RnR FP for a Fantasmic FP - and just ride RnR standby? Or would you keep your RnR and just take a chance with F! seating?

Well I of course would ditch the RnRC but that's only because the ride just hurts me anymore. But to actually answer your question, if you really want to ride RnRC I say keep the FP. The standby line can get really long and the single rider is never really guaranteed to be shorter. I actually waited over an hour in it one time. Maybe start checking out some wait times to see what it's like over the next few weeks? Plus with low crowd times, Fantasmic shouldn't fill up too fast.

Does anyone know - do they still have buses that run from park to park? I cannot remember?

Yes, buses run between all of the parks except between Epcot and MK since the monorail is available. There is even a bus between HS and Epcot which is so much faster than the boat. If you are closer to the front of the park when you finish with Epcot, I would take the bus rather than walk all the way to the International Gate.

Soooo... Tell me - what do you do on your days off? Is there anything special we need to consider doing - that's sort of relaxing and not too hectic?

Not sure I have the greatest answer here either since I rarely take days off. But when I do I usually end up at Disney Springs. The crowds are so much thinner if you head there in the morning/early afternoon.

Phew....all caught up. It took me longer to get caught up on this than to read the whole TR :(

So much to comment on. Love your leggings.....

Your tree is fantastic! Do you guys leave it up for a while or is it already down like mine? It always seems so bare here when I take everything down. But it is such a space hog and a waste of electricity to keep all the lights up.

So sorry about A&G. It will get easier. You know my story, went through something very similar. He was a huge part of our family before we dated and during. It was hard on my parents too. And my brother. He was my brothers best friend. Hindsight is 20/20.....but unfortunately we can't live life backwards.

Your Jan plans look great. I'm so glad you are doing Wave and Kona! Yum yum!

Ok, gotta get something done today. It's my last day off.....back to work tomorrow :(
Have a great day. We'll chat soon!

So sorry to hear about the difficult times. My cousin dated a guy for years and then broke up with him. My aunt continues to still have lunch with him (3 years later), although it isn't nearly as frequent as before. She is the one that helped him to finally understand that my cousin was not going to be the one for him and she encouraged him to move on. It was very difficult. My daughter, Chelsea, loved him and it broke her heart too when they broke up. I dated a guy 30 years ago and my mom still wants me to get back together with him and he is already on marriage #4, but for her, he is still the only one that she liked. I haven't had to deal with the relationship stuff with my kids yet, but I am not looking forward to it.

So sorry you are having a hard time with the breakup. This piled on top of the other emotions that the holidays bring can be overwhelming. Hang in there (and make sure Alison does too). Focus on the good things and being grateful for your many blessings! It makes it a little more bearable and eases the pain some. {{Hugs to all}}

there is nothing better than Disney planning. I ma so excited for you!
Thank you D! I am very excited as well!
I feel like everything going on is really emotional for me...
Which is why I am letting it out here.
I always find the DIS such a safe place to let out any emotions. e are here for you D:hug:
It's very painful once they decide to part ways. I hope that one day - both of them will be able to get past the hurt enough to be friends again. :lovestruc At this point - I don't foresee them getting back together.
I am very sorry about Allison and Gus breaking up. This Disney trip for you and ALlison couldn't have come at a better time!:thumbsup2
That's about it... Our Disney trip is closing in on us fast - and I can honestly say that I NEED this time right now... As bittersweet as it will be, it's also much needed
Definitely :thumbsup2
Yup - 2 days off, to wander the world and be lazy. :lovestruc
I enjoy rest days too!:thumbsup2 There are so many other fun things to do in Disney besides the parks - and rest days are a great way to get those things done!
Soooo... Tell me - what do you do on your days off? Is there anything special we need to consider doing - that's sort of relaxing and not too hectic? :scratchin
If I have the time while I'm in Disney - I love to go minigolfing. Winter/Summerland is really cute, but I love Fantasia Gardens since it is based off of Fantasia. Also - I believe you can walk to Fantasia Gardens from the BC. So if you wanted to on your day of the B&C reservation - you could golf over there before or after. Also, I believe APs get a discount on all the mini golf courses.
I also love the pools of course, resort hopping, and of course DTD...

Sorry to hear about A and G. Long distance relationships are hard. My opinion for what it is worth, you really shouldn't need a fp for F! We went last year in January and didn't even have to wait in line for it.

I loved Forbidden Journey, but Charlie did not.

I'm so sorry to hear you're going through some rough times! Breakups are never easy... I hope your upcoming trip offers you and Allison some fun, stress-free times!

Lissette

I am just stopping in this morning to thank you all for the advice and comments - I really appreciate it. I've read everything and I will do comments tomorrow morning - or later today, if I have the time. ::yes::

I worked out yesterday and I lifted weights too... I was pretty upset all morning and afternoon, and the working out and lifting did help a lot. I am right on track with eating and my Christmas bloat is nearly gone. :thumbsup2

I am starting to think that "whatever this is" is hormonal... I had a VERY hard time on the anniversary of my Mom's death 2 weeks ago - It was probably the roughest anniversary since the first 5 or so... Then I have been having a very emotional time with my Dad and Brother. And now, on top of that Allison and Gus... This is sooo unlike me and my personality - believe me, I am NOT depressed at all... I just cry at everything. It's the craziest thing ever! It was to the point yesterday, that I was laughing at myself because all of a sudden, I'd be crying. So, I am just telling myself that "it's hormonal" - until I come up with a better idea. ::yes::

I do feel a lot better about the whole Alli and Gus situation last night and today though... Allison and I had a good long talk yesterday - and while I still don't understand everything, she is at peace with her decision - so I need to be at peace too. I was also feeling badly because Gus unfriended me on FB... I would never tell him - but that hurt me a lot... I guess, I just always assumed I was his "2nd mom" and it just hurt to be pushed aside like that. Knowing him the way I do, I know he was not doing it to be hurtful towards me at all, but it still hurt. Make sense? I was very happy to wake up this morning and see one of his posts in my feed... So, somehow, we are friends again - and that just makes me feel better, that there are no hard feelings towards me.

Sooo... Enough about that for now... Thank you - from the bottom of my heart - for letting me get this out there, it helps me so much. :lovestruc

Despite my strange and emotional day yesterday - I did get a lot accomplished in my sewing room... I am so happy with it all!

First things first - my Harry Potter bag is finished! :woohoo: I am soooo happy about it! I did deviate from my personal rule of "no digitized machine embroidery appliques on my bags"... but since this is MY bag - I made the exception. And since the applique I found was fitting to me - Yah - I used it. LOL It is reversible - so depending on my mood - I can flip it around... I can pretty much guarantee which side it will be on most of the time. :scratchin

Once I was done on my bag, I took lunch and went back to work after... I was able to get all of my mending/buttons sewn on to shirts in probably 30 minutes... It doesn't take long to do - I sometimes wonder why I take so long to do it? But I was done with all of it in less than 30 minutes. :thumbsup2

Then, finally, I started working on V's Christmas stocking... I know - I know - it's after Christmas. LOL There's a story here... 3 years ago, I made stockings for Josh's entire family - it was known as "The Great Stocking Project" - it was a crazy project and one that I am glad I'll never have to do again. I am not sure what I was thinking there? Anyways... I had to dig out my stocking stuff this year, because we had a new addition to the family - Little Miss Lara. :lovestruc Well - time was short and I was in a pinch... I did a kind of sneaky thing - and took V's name off of her stocking and mailed it to Europe with Lara's name on it. The color I'd originally chosen for V's stocking didn't match our set very well, and she wanted something different, rather than making 2 stockings, I chose to pass her's on to Lara. There was nothing wrong with her's and it still looked brand new. ::yes:: Well, V's new stocking fabric wasn't delivered until the day after Christmas... So, she had to use a different stocking this year. Long story short - I have an awesome dent on V's stocking and I should be able to get up there to finish it this afternoon.

Yah - I have no idea what I am going to do with my last 2 days off + the weekend? :scratchin Maybe I'll get some trip packing done? I still have to finish the shirt I made and 2 pairs of leggings - but I can't do those until my fabric arrives, so - I think I"ll work on some outfit planning and packing for the remainder of the week.

*****************************************************************************************************

So, our final day to tell you all about... Universal Studios...

This day is just going to be a fumbly mess - I think? :scratchin

I know we will board a shuttle bus at SoG... I know we share this bus with other resorts - I have no idea which ones. But I know it's $10 r/t p/p - so I can't beat that.

We will arrive at U/S at whatever time we get there - hopefully early - but I am not counting on it.

We need to go to the park on the right... Which ever one that is? :scratchin And we need to walk to the back of the park - approx @2:00 from the gate. And that's it. At this point we will be in Diagon Alley... Thinking we will start off with Gringotts... Then we will take the train across to the other one that starts with an F... Yah - this is gonna be good you guys... I have NO idea what I am doing. After that - I think we will just wander - I know those rides are the busiest and should be done as close to park opening or closing as possible.

When we are done - we will board our shuttle back to the resort. ::yes::

OK - I hope you all have a great day today - sorry for no replies, I have to work at Target early this morning.

D~

First off, your HP bag is gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous!!! I absolutely love it!

I am just telling myself that "it's hormonal" - until I come up with a better idea. ::yes::

That very well may be. I have PMDD one day out of the month and I feel completely different emotionally than every other 'normal' day. I'm easy to anger, feelings of impending doom, and am crazy anxious. Hormones are real y'all!

We need to go to the park on the right... Which ever one that is?

That's Universal Studios proper. We did it the other way around. We started at the park on the left and went back to see Hogsmeade before going to Diagon Alley later in the day.

... Then we will take the train across to the other one that starts with an F...

That's actually Islands of Adventure. That's where Forbidden Journey is located. That was the first HP land that they built. Diagon Alley was my favorite of the two.

Yes, go to Universal Studios first - get in line to ride Gringotts and then explore Diagon Alley. Take the train to Hogsmeade (Islands of Adventure), there are a couple of rides there too besides Forbidden Journey. I loved FJ - but as I said last night, Charlie did not - made him sick. Then have lunch at the Three Broomsticks. Have some butterbeer. Ride the train back to Diagon Alley. explore some more then have dinner at the Leaky Cauldron. Then you can have some butterbeer ice cream!

I love your HP bag! I had some of that fabric too. Made a quilt for Charlie with it. Now I just have scraps of it. I plan to get some of the new fabric too, since I am making a new HP quilt and need it for the backing.

:scratchin

The HP bag is so cute! Great job with it - you will fit right in in Hogwarts! I love that it's reversible!!:goodvibes

I am very excited to see what you and Allison think about US. I have only been there once, like 11 years ago only for a few hours, so I know it has gone through some big changes. I look forward to seeing all of your pictures and reviews on everything!

I'm glad your feeling better today.

Your HP bag looks great.

I hope you have a great day at Target.

UUgh...hormones...glad I have none now...took some adjusting and still have some hot flashes (although acupuncture helps those)...but glad you are feeling better now!

Nice HP bag!

So...if you have extra time on your hands, you could make me a bag...simple smaller black fabric multi colored thread quilting...simple applique...yeah, I would not mind...just saying...

LOL!:rolleyes1:rotfl2::rotfl:

Just RELAX and enjoy your time off!

Sorry about Allison and Gus. I'm glad you're feeling better today.
Your Harry potter bag is really nice. I love the colors.
I'm off today and tomorrow as I have an extra day off due to the holiday. The store manager did ask if I wanted to work one of the days but I said no. I'll probably take the Christmas tree down since the kittens are working on destroying it. Tomorrow I'm going to see Star Wars.
Enjoy your day a Target.
Liz

Sorry to hear about Allison and Gus. I think as Moms, we take things very hard. You have to remain neutral and be strong for Allison and deal with your own feelings. Throw hormones on top of that and it makes everything harder. I think that this time of year is very emotional also. There is stress from the holidays which doesn't help. Thank goodness for exercise!! As Dory say...."Just keep Swimming." Happy New Year too!!! ~Niki

Give Allison a hug from me. It is hard to break up with someone even if it is for the right reasons.

Yesterday's replies....

I am sorry about Allison and Gus, but i think your doing the right thing. I remember in HS once my mom was so upset when i broke up with a boyfriend i actually considered for a quick minute to get back together.. what a disaster!

However me and said boyfriend are good friends now, we went to each others weddings, hang out and he is friendly with my DH and i am friendly with his wife... Actually now that the holidays are over i should reach out to them :)

You could squeeze in mini golf on an off day, or bowling or a movie all depending on weather i guess.

Have a great day!

Thank you... It's hard. I am glad I was able to talk to her though, and just to let her know I am having a hard time with this, because it's like losing one of my kids. I am dreading the fact that I will have an "incomplete family" feeling for some time. But it will be OK - and I"ll get past it soon. I am already feeling better about everything.

I am glad you hear that you are still good friends with your former boyfriend... This gives me hope. Alli and Gus have been bffs for so long - I just cannot imagine him not in her life in some form.

We will see - thanks for the idea!

You too! Thanks!

My daughter dated a boy for 6 years in high school and college, then broke up with him. Broke my heart! He was the son I never had. They've stayed in touch even thought she's married now, and I see him every now and then around town. Still love that kid! It was for the best, but it was very hard! I think I waited a long time to meet her husband when they started dating because I didn't want to get attached. They've been together almost 6 years, I guess I can sort of get attached now, lol. And he did come with my grandson, so I'll take him! It is hard to watch your kids suffer though. This Disney trip will be just the thing!

I bet - I cannot imagine that long! That had to have been hard. I can only imagine that I will never feel the same about any of her boyfriends again, until long after they are married. I think, since they've been married for 6 years now, it might be OK to get attached? LOL

I'm sorry to hear that Gus will no longer be a part of your family in the same way that he was when dating Allison.

It will be easy to hop the boat to WL from the Contemporary after breakfast at the Wave. It is a five minute boat ride and the best way to view the WL is from the water. The WL is beautiful and you will see the similarities to AKL in the architecture. Don't miss the villas building, right out the door by the Mercantile. The Carolina Pacific room in the villas building has some memorabilia from Walt Disney himself, including two of his original train cars from the miniature railroad he built on his property. The fireplace screen is very whimsical. In fact, all of the fireplace screens at the WL are interesting. The fires should all be turned on in January, too.

You can tour the resort and then walk the path to Fort Wilderness. The path begins right by the WL bus stop. It is about a 17 minute walk to Fort Wilderness. You will come out right by the pony stables. There is a big horse stable to the left of that and there are some artifacts on display in that barn, including a carriage that used to be used in one of the parades. There are probably other things to check out there. I've haven't done much more than look at the horses. You can ride an internal bus to the park bus stop to get a feel for the campsites. From there you can go to a park or DTD. Or you can stay up near the marina and take the boat to MK to catch a resort bus if you want to tour more resorts. You could catch your bus to AKL from there.

Did you know that Jiko's at AKL has a free culinary tour on select days in the afternoons? They give out samples of their delicious foods, too. I read about it on someone's trip report. That is all I know, though.

Yes - it will be different, but I think it will be OK? I hope.

Ok - this sounds wonderful, and it really takes care of everything on my list. Thanks so much Sue for planning this out for me! :woohoo:

Dahh!! I feel so silly. I completely forgot about the tiers at DHS.

I'm so sorry to hear that you are feeling sad. It's such a stinky experience to have to go through. Sending big hugs!

Can't wait to see the universal plans! I've been once about five years ago with my sisters. We had so much fun, and I hope you guys enjoy it too!

No worries... I was so disappointed to see the tiers still in place when I logged in to do FPs.

Thank you - I am doing much better now.

I am excited and a little nervous - I am not used to going with out some sort of plan.

Sad to hear about Allison and Gus -- this upcoming trip is definitely coming at the right time and will be a much-needed break and time together for both of you. Hugs to all of you....what a difficult situation.

I can't wait to see your HP bag! Your park plans sound so fun!

Your post about your Dad and your brother was so sweet and loving and brought me to tears. HUGS to you....

Thanks - it's been hard, but I think we are all doing OK. This Disney trip couldn't have been better timing - I agree.

I am very happy with how my HP bag turned out. It doesn't coordinate well with my head gear - but oh well.

Thanks - it's been hard and rough... Just trying to sort it all in my head. Lots going on, and it's hard sometimes. Thanks for the hugs! :lovestruc

I'm so sorry to hear that Alli and Gus broke up and that you are so sad

I can't wait to see the HP bag and hear about your Universal Studio plans.

Thanks Lillian. :lovestruc

I am pretty excited about the bag - it will be fun to carry.

*HUGS* to you D~ I'm so glad you have a trip coming up so soon so you can get away from your heartache and enjoy your time with Allison.

I forgot to mention yesterday that I didn't think that Forbidden Journey was all that intense. If you don't like simulator type 4D rides then I wouldn't do it, but otherwise I think you'll be fine. Now I didn't find it all that fun, but that's another story.

Me too - it will definitely help... And hopefully heal us a little bit.

Yes! It's called the Forbidden Journey - I keep wanting to call it other names, and I know they aren't right. LOL I can do short simulator - like Star Tours... but I have hear that this one is even more intense than ST? I just don't want to end up sick.

Awe, D~, I am so sorry! I am not looking foward to this aspect of my girls dating and having relationships. It has to be so hard. I tell my girls all the time, to be careful who they fall in love with, because you are giving that person complete control of your heart. You are allowing them the opportunity to break it. You could also have a treat at Beaches and Cream.

The Chipmunk campfire at Wilderness Campground is super fun...and you will have a special Chipmunk outfit for this trip right?

Thank you Connie - It's so hard... I really did "adopt" Gus, and I always knew there was a good possibility that they would break up - but the more time that passed, the less likely it had become... I agree - I've always taught my girls to be independent, and to know their feelings... Which is why Allison knew this wasn't the right relationship for her anymore. I am glad she was smart enough to know this - but I am sad that we lose a family member in the process. It's just not easy... but I am dealing with it and working through it. I am feeling much better about it as the days go on. :thumbsup2

Those are great ideas Connie! And yes - I will have a Chipmunck outfit for this trip - I think??? Well, I do - I have the bag from Monica, I have head gear on the way... I just need to put the outfit itself together... Having a hard time with that part. ::yes:: But that would be FUN!

Awww, so sorry to hear about Allison and Gus. I do hope they can be friends again someday.

Well I of course would ditch the RnRC but that's only because the ride just hurts me anymore. But to actually answer your question, if you really want to ride RnRC I say keep the FP. That's what I was thinking too... Thinking back - I thought I remembered reading that there really isn't a bad viewing spot for F! My only issue, is getting out of the theater ahead of most of the crowds... We might be best off standing towards the back?

Oooh - excellent idea - I didn't even think of that! I will keep that in mind!

I know - we love DTD and plan to spend some time there this trip.

Phew....all caught up. It took me longer to get caught up on this than to read the whole TR :

So much to comment on. Love your leggings.....

Ok, gotta get something done today. It's my last day off.....back to work tomorrow :(
Have a great day. We'll chat soon!

I know - I am sorry that the TR had to be done so quickly - I feel like I had to skim over so much!

Thanks! I am so happy with it this year - it will be sad to have to take it down - I still light it every night. I am not sure when it will come down? For sure, not until this weekend. It will definitely be a process.

I know - it's still hard, but we will all get through it. :lovestruc

I am super excited about those two restaurants too... If we would have had more time on our departure day - -I would have scheduled another Wave breakfast. :scratchin

Love you, drive safe today!

I haven't had to deal with the relationship stuff with my kids yet, but I am not looking forward to it.

Thanks... It's been hard, but I am doing better. I am sure that I will continue to see Gus and stay a prominent figure in his life - just by talking with him over the last day or so, I am certain of this. Neither of us want to sever the relationship that we have. So, I feel much better about it. It may dim over time and things will likely change, but for now - we will all be OK.

Yikes!!! No, I will never do that to my girls. As much as I would love for her and Gus to get back together - I am not sure that is the right decision for her, but in the end it is HER decision and not mine... I will live with it - regardless of how I feel about it. It's so hard being a mom sometimes, but ultimately - I want her to find TRUE happiness, and I trust her judgement to know what that is for herself. I hope that one day your mom will be at peace with your decisions too.

So sorry you are having a hard time with the breakup. This piled on top of the other emotions that the holidays bring can be overwhelming. Hang in there (and make sure Alison does too). Focus on the good things and being grateful for your many blessings! It makes it a little more bearable and eases the pain some. {{Hugs to all}}

Thanks Lynn... It's getting better. It's just a hard time for me - very emotional. Allison is doing OK - it seems... I am not sure if it's hit her entirely? Thank you for your kind words. ::hug::

I'm so sorry about the break up.

Thanks! :lovestruc

Thank you D! I am very excited as well!

I always find the DIS such a safe place to let out any emotions. e are here for you D

I am very sorry about Allison and Gus breaking up. This Disney trip for you and ALlison couldn't have come at a better time!

Definitely

I enjoy rest days too!:thumbsup2 There are so many other fun things to do in Disney besides the parks - and rest days are a great way to get those things done!

If I have the time while I'm in Disney - I love to go minigolfing. Winter/Summerland is really cute, but I love Fantasia Gardens since it is based off of Fantasia. Thanks Alison! :lovestruc

I know - the timing on this one couldn't be more perfect for us... Just really to take the time to get away together and focus on us. It will be good, and good for us. ::yes::

I am so excited for our rest days - it will be a lot of fun!

Oooh - I will consider that too - you all have such great ideas!

Sorry to hear about A and G. Long distance relationships are hard. My opinion for what it is worth, you really shouldn't need a fp for F! We went last year in January and didn't even have to wait in line for it.

I loved Forbidden Journey, but Charlie did not.

Thanks Tess... It is hard. I was thinking they would make it through it - they were almost half way there... but I guess it wasn't to be.

That's awesome!!! Hopefully we won't - I've been very optimistic about crowds being light - I haven't had any trouble getting FPs for rides that are hard to get, and lots of times available. ::yes::

Hmmm.... :scratchin I might give it a try - I know you and I are pretty "ride compatible"... We'll see how I feel. Maybe I'll send Allison on it... Wonder if we can do ride swap for an adult? LOL

I'm so sorry to hear you're going through some rough times! Breakups are never easy... I hope your upcoming trip offers you and Allison some fun, stress-free times!

Thank you... I hope so too! It's been hard, but I am working through it and doing better. Gus and I have been texting a little bit - and that's helped. I also had a long heart to heart with Allison that helped me too... It will just take time. And we are all hoping that their friendship will remain intact.
