They Tried To Make Me Go To Rehab, But I Said No No No! Updt 11/7: Solo no more Pg.27

What a cute pretty room!

Interesting that the pepper spray made it past security. I'd of thought they'd stop something like that. I don't usually carry any at home but was just thinking I needed something like that on the trip, because I'm such a night owl and know I'll be in the parks as late as I can most nights.

Can't wait to hear about the MK! :)

Beautiful photos of Illuminations!!! :goodvibes

Old Key West looks nice.

Can't wait to hear about the MK!!!

Don't you love that Disney Magic that allows you to be energized even after a night of very little sleep.

Exactly how I feel! :goodvibes

WooHoo! Can't wait! :cutie:

Update coming shortly :)

OKW looks so relaxing :cloud9: I can't wait to hear all about MK :goodvibes

It's perfect for folks who want a break from the hectic pace of park touring :)

Amazing updates!! The pics are great! I hate it when my camera fogs up, so frustrating!! Can't wait to hear all about your MK day!

Thanks! I am uploading my MK photos as I type ;)

The one I have is so small, and looks exactly like a tube of lipstick, I was guessing that's why. :rolleyes1 :)

Hi Kathleen! Update coming up in a little bit....:)

I cannot even begin to describe how much I love the Magic Kingdom.

When I think of heaven, I imagine it will be like living in the MK forever :) And I know it sounds corny, but I believe that the MK is a little piece of heaven on earth.

And with that very thought in my head, I get off the MK bus and walk a very short distance to:
IMG_5691.jpg

I had an early ADR for the Crystal Palace, so I was allowed to go in before the official park opening time. Here are the early birds waiting for the rope to drop:
IMG_5693.jpg

{I thought twice before taking that photo. I wondered if they'd think I was being mean, or rubbing it in their faces that I was in and they were not. But none of them seemed to be paying me any attention, so I did. My reason for taking the photo is for pure documentary purposes only, i.e. to show my Dis friends the actual "rope" used for the "drop." }

A view of the train station just as you come out of the tunnel:

Tony's Restaurant, where I'll be having lunch later:

The US flag which flies proudly over the Town Square:
IMG_5696.jpg

During the evening, a guest military veteran often helps lower down the flag.

The statue of Roy Disney, who supervised WDW's creation after his brother's death:

My first view of the castle:

A Photopass photographer makes me pose saying "I'm here!!!":

My beautiful castle as viewed from an empty Main Street:
IMG_5700.jpg

Rare pictures of me in front of the castle - no crowds (excuse the puffy eyes, yikes!):
IMG_5701.jpg

Getting closer to the castle:
IMG_5702.jpg

Even more rare photos of an empty Main Street:
IMG_5703.jpg

Did you know that Main Street is 850 feet long?
IMG_5705.jpg

Main St. actually rises about 6 feet from the train station to the castle. They say the reason behind this is because when you enter the park, you are full of energy with stong legs that can handle the up-slope. On your way out on the other hand, after a long day at the parks, the down-slope physically makes it a little easier for you to make it to the exit.

Facing the train station:
IMG_5706.jpg

My boys' favorite CS restaurant at MK:
IMG_5707.jpg

I walk to the CP to cancel my ADR. I apologize and say that I am not really hungry. In truth I was too excited to eat!
They are so busy that they smile and wave me off.

I sit on a bench by the hub. I pause to marvel at the dazzling blue sky, the replendence of which is matched equally by my magnificent castle. What a sight to behold:
IMG_5712.jpg

It looks like a postcard coming to life:
IMG_5714.jpg

I appreciate her beauty as I walk closer:
IMG_5716.jpg

She is a universal symbol of imagination, innocence and romance:
IMG_5718.jpg

I feel welcomed as I enter:
IMG_5719.jpg

The lovely mosaic created out of half a million pieces of glass in 500 colors:
IMG_5720.jpg

It took a painstaking two years to create these mosaics:

I reach the second rope barrier, the one that leads into Fantasyland. The Fairygodmother is waiting to welcome us all:

Coming up:
Kingdom Of Magic Part 2
Stay tuned!

I feel like I am there with you. You really are a talented writer. BTW, I mentioned to you a LONG time ago that my DH is a PT. Did you ever say what you do? Just curious why you went to the rehab conference. I am asking because DH went to Texas Womans. Thought maybe you did too. Just a shot in the dark:confused3

I enjoyed your last trip report so much. I am enjoying this trip report just as much. You capture all the magic of Disney in your reports. Reading them is like reading a good book. I can't wait to get to the next page. I love your enthusiasm and your love for Disney. I can truly relate. I love your thoughts on the Magic Kingdom being Heaven on Earth. I feel that way too. You should think about writing a book on Disney World. I bet it would be a top seller. I am going to Disney in December with my mom, brother, and his wife. I can't wait.

I'm with you, MK is a little piece of Heaven on Earth. I wish I could bottle the way I feel when I am there and take it with me!

Allyson

Your MK update is absolutly amazing!!! The pics were great and the commentary was very educating, I had no idea about the tiles in the mosiac!!! Thanks for filling me in!!! I CANNOT wait for the rest!!!

You look so adorable in the picture in front of the castle!:cutie:
I love the Ariel shirt!

I love all the empty park pictures, it is so worth getting the early adr just for that.
Wait til I get to my DHS/MGM update! ;)

I.cannot.wait.to.experience.that!

I am currently reading a biography of Empress Alexandra Feodorovna of Russia, and I see the similarities between the names mentioned in the book, and your kids' names :) That is super cool in my opinion, and a beautiful tribute to your Russian heritage. :thumbsup2

Hi! I am a PT :) Graduated in the early '90's, but not from TWU :(
Thanks for the compliment about my writing. My DH is getting peeved at how much time it takes me to post one update, but I want to make every update a really good one :)

Awwww, that is the nicest thing I've ever heard/read :) You give me so much encouragement to keep on writing. Thanks for being a faithful reader of my TR's, and I hope I keep entertaining everyone with my photo-stories. :goodvibes Wishing you and your family a very Magical Disney Christmas Vacation!

I'm with you, MK is a little piece of Heaven on Earth. I wish I could bottle the way I feel when I am there and take it with me!

Oh Allyson, this is why we all keep going back -- to re-experience our little piece of heaven!

Your MK update is absolutly amazing!!! The pics were great and the commentary was very educating, I had no idea about the tiles in the mosiac!!! Thanks for filling me in!!! I CANNOT wait for the rest!!!

I love reading about Disney trivia (among other things). :) I love to read, period. One fact about me that not many people know -- I have read the three Lord of The Rings books every summer since 1994, making it 16 times total! (I'm a geek, I know! LOL!)

I love MK so empty!! I can't wait to see it again in December!

Guess who may be going to WDW after Christmas day?! (It's in the planning stages ;) )

You look so adorable in the picture in front of the castle!:cutie:
I love the Ariel shirt!
You are too nice! I also got around 5 compliments about my shirt throughout that day :) Mostly from CM's.

WOW love, love, LOVE the update. MK empty is awesome. I'm definitely making a note to try for an early CP ADR.

I keep my room at a very cold 65 degrees - my ideal temperature! :) I couldn't have done that if the boys were with me because they prefer it cozy at night (72 or so).

When I think of heaven...

I had to go get my sweater before I finished reading! That is coooool! I'm very cold-natured, so 75 is as low as I like it for myself. The boys like it a tad bit cooler, then I resort to blankets when they turn it any lower.

I agree about the heaven part. Being in Disney World with my family is the closest thing to heaven I have ever felt, and if it gets any better than that in the hereafter, and I know it is a million times better, then that is where I want to be! And if that sounds silly to someone, that's okay. Everyone has their own ideas of heaven and of heaven on earth, and I definitely know mine.

Nice castle and Main Street pictures. I always enjoy looking at the mosaics.

WOW love, love, LOVE the update. MK empty is awesome. I'm definitely making a note to try for an early CP ADR.

Hey there Kat! I hope you do get to experience it! It's so relaxing to walk slowly down Main St. with no one to bump into. :)

I had to go get my sweater before I finished reading! That is coooool!

Hi MeMom! LOL! What can I say, I love it cold! :) No one 'round here wonders why our summer electric bill is sky-high! ;)

When I last left you, I was standing in front of the Fairygodmother:
IMG_5724.jpg

I was ready to start my Magic Kingdom adventure.

Beside me were a Mom and Dad with their two little girls, who appeared to have just come from a BBB session. They were made-up from head to toe in full Tinkerbelle regalia (wings and all!).

A CM called the girls to the front of the line, then lowered down the left end of the rope to let them and their parents in. They were escorted to the giftshop called Tinkerbell's Treasures.

These girls were selected to wake-up Tinkerbell! :yay: Though I didn't follow the family there when the rope dropped, I can imagine what must have happened {Dream montage follows, images courtesy of my Dis friends in the Theme Parks strategies board}:

It is believed that Tinkerbell lies sleeping in the top drawer in a locked chest located in the giftshop:
tink2.jpg

Peep inside the keyhole and see for yourself:
tink3.jpg

The lucky children are given a wand and are instructed to tap on the chest three times and say “wake-up Tinkerbell." Sure enough Tinkerbell wakes-up and flies around the room in a dazzling display of lights and sounds:
tink1-1.jpg

Tink typically flies around the shop intermittently through out the day.

{Now back to my *real* TR} ;)

So when the family heads off to wake up Tink, I tell the other CM standing there, "But I wanted to wake Tink up!" in a real whiny voice. I was obviously just joking, but the CM thought I was serious! She looks at me and replies, "Kids have first priority." :rotfl: I inform her I wasn't serious, and she says somewhat apologetically, "ohh, okaaay...." I give her a big cheshire cat grin.

At last, the rope drops.

IMG_5725.jpg

My commando instinct is ordering me to run, run, run to the nearest ride! But the solo tripper in me chides me to slow down...it's telling me, "Stop girlfriend, why the rush?"

I disregard the commando's directive. I walk ever so slowly, ignoring the groups of people rushing past me to get to Dumbo.

I beam at the line of CM's welcoming the morning's first visitors to Fantasyland:
IMG_5726.jpg

I thought of the boys, and how they would have loved to see this. Bright smiling CM's waving to the guests, blowing bubbles, saying "Welcome to the Magic Kingdom!"
IMG_5727.jpg

How very special and memorable! I make a note to myself to make sure the boys experience this next time.

I walk towards:
IMG_5728.jpg

Guess what? I was the first rider of the day! :yay: I was running to catch my flying pirate ship when I took this photo:
IMG_5729.jpg

I normally do not take photos during a ride because I think the flash ruins the ride experience not just for me but for the others. BUT, since I was the only rider at the time, I take a few select (darkish) shots.

My favorite part of the ride, flying over the twinkling streets of London at night:
IMG_5731.jpg

Tiger Lily and her Dad the Chief at the Indian Encampment:
IMG_5732.jpg

Mermaid Lagoon's most popular citizen:
IMG_5733.jpg

When the ride ends, I ask to ride again. And again.

I ride Peter Pan 3 times in a row without having to get off my ship! :goodvibes

I head on to:
IMG_5734.jpg

I think Jasmine and Aladdin's ride on the Magic carpet is sooooo romantic! ;). However, watching this show reminds me of how Sam reaches up to catch Ariel's gems - this is Sam's favorite MK attraction! And although I am having lots of fun, it tugs on my heart a little. I decide to see it only once.

I need something to pick up my spirits, so I go on to visit the 999 Happy Haunts residing at:

The Haunted Mansion! {insert creepy music here} My favorite MK ride!

Another awesome MK update!! What a wonderful way to start the day at Disney!! Can't wait to hear more!!! I love the bouncing Mickey...lol;)

I am currently reading a biography of Empress Alexandra Feodorovna of Russia, and I see the similarities between the names mentioned in the book, and your kids' names That is super cool in my opinion, and a beautiful tribute to your Russian heritage.

Oh yeah - my Grandfather was a soldier in the Tsar's white army so there are some strong emotional ties to the monarchy. My girls' names are taken from cousins and Great Aunts on Mom's side of the family, but I seriously considered throwing an Olga in there! (Which incidentally was my Grandmother's name... I can't escape it!)

Literary side note- you might like A Lifelong Passion: Nicholas and Alexandra: Their Own Story
... one of my favorite looks at the life of Nicholas and Alexandra...

My husband has The Hobbit memorized- he used to read it aloud to a group he mentored and the side effect was knowing it by heart! Go figure! Go GEEKS! :rotfl:

The Haunted Mansion! {insert creepy music here} My favorite MK ride!

ME TOO! ME TOO! ME TOO!

I cannot wait to see the differences (and similarities) between the MK Haunted Mansion and the Disneyland Haunted Mansion... I would be content to hang out around that ride all day long and never be bored.
