Woooo I'm so excited that they played my voicemail, and eating at the bar is a great suggestion..butttt....I'm on the DDP! :( Are their any bars that participate with DDP?

Also I went on the Big Red Boat, back when I was in 1st grade. We did a split stay, staying at POFQ, and taking the boat to the Bahamas. It was my only cruising experience and my dad recalls me crying that I didn't want to get off the boat and go home because I had such a good time.

We went on the Big Red Boat also - I was a senior in high school and went w/my parents and sisters. We did the land/sea and stayed at the BC, which had just opened up, and then went on the 4 day cruise... The cruise left from Port Canaveral and went to Nassau, their own island & day at sea - just like DCL - but "their" island was no Castaway Cay!!!

yes!! I remember "their island". Actually, if you google "Disney's big Bahama Blunder" their is an article a site did where they went to the island after it was abandoned by Premiere Cruise Lines, and a lot of the old tourist junk is still there.

We went on the big red boat in the late eighties when I was in the 5th grade. I believe the private island they took us to is Salt Cay which is now where the Blue Lagoon Island dolphin encounters is. I recall having a great time!

ok I am dating myself I also went on the big red boat but I took my kids who where 7 7 10. lol

I've been to Disneyana Convention rooming with someone but our schedules were different earlier in the week ... so I ended up eating solo a couple times.

Boardwalk has the ESPN Club (good especially if you like sports) and Big River Grille & Brewing. At Downtown Disney I enjoyed Cap'n Jack's Restaurant because it was quite but has a somewhat limited menu. Also, Raglan Road is a good option.

Was it actally a "Big Red Boat" back when it was called the Big Red Boat? Anyone have pics of it from back then? I'd like to see it.

Oh my! That was a great voicemail, but I fear John may be difficult to live with for the next few days! :rotfl:

Great voicemail sanapunk! :thumbsup2

Thanks, but the Big Red Boat one wasn't mine, I'm not that creative!:rotfl:

Ooops sorry. You were the eating alone question! I see. One way I get around eating out alone is to bring a pad of paper and pen. It's a good time to get down some journal thoughts, make grocery lists, to do lists, etc. Besides, the waiters think you're a food critic and you get the best of everything. Also, bringing a book along helps avoid having to really look around at other people who may be looking back at you.

Yup ,they were red.

I sailed on the StarShip Oceanic (1st Cruise) and the Starship Majestic (3rd Cruise), both when Premier was the "Official Cruise Line of Walt Disney World". I can honestly say they had a pretty good product back then.

My first cruise ever was one on the Big Red Boat that I won in a sweepstakes in the mid 90s. We thought it was great. After I sailed on other lines, I found out how horrible it really was! It sailed from Canaveral and went to Nassau and we missed their private island due to weather. It was really a bad ship.

It's mostly the resort restaurants that have the bars....they are the same as if you were seated at a table. Same menu...you are just seated at the bar. Samantha Brown seems to always be at the bar eating when she does the Disney shows...I've seen her eating at the bars at Jiko and California Grille, for example. Kona Cafe is another one that Kevin has reviewed where you get the same menu at the bar. The restaurant in the U.K. in Epcot has a bar menu with a good selection.

So, yes, you can use the DDP if you eat at the bar! :goodvibes

Have a wonderful trip; I'm looking forward to hearing about it when you return!!

Thanks for everyones advice on dining, the bar is looking like a good choice for me! I need to get all my dining in order as my 90 day mark is next Tueday! I also liked the idea of bringing a pad and paper or a book. It kind of tempts me into wanting to get this years Passporter, I can write in my PP journal while I eat! :woohoo:

Aww that BRB phot brought back some good memories :(
