OMGOSH! I am so absolutely ANGRY!!!

I went to meet Kaylee at the bus stop and she wasnt on the bus!!

My neighbour was with me and said " get in the car were going" well we get there and the teacher tells me they put her on the OTHER bus because no one knew which one she was supposed to be on ( she wasnt on either drivers list???) so they GUESSED!!???!!! I had written on her card which bus she was supposed to be on, this isnt the parents responsibilty to make sure the kid gets on the right bus!

They said " oh dont worry they'll just bring her back here"
Well thats all well and good but for a panicked parent it isnt much help! I went to the office and they just said " oh call this number theyll find her" EXCUSE ME??? you cant do any better than that?
So I call the number from the office I try 7 times and its BUSY!! I cant get through at all. ( still havent i might add)

By this time I am totally panicked! My neighbour and I ( TG she was there she was a huge help!!) figured out what the bus route was and called my dh to go sit at home and wait in case by some miracle she showed up there, we drove the route and found some parents that were waiting so we asked them if they were waiting for the bus and they said yes that it hadnt come yet. So we waited with them for a few minutes ( keep in mind dd has been on the bus for 45 minutes by now when we only live 5 minutes from school and are the first stop) finally the bus pulls up and I run on and there is Kaylee happy as a clam she didnt even know anything was wrong (TG!!!). The Bus driver says " Oh were you worried? We would have gotten her home one way or the other" excuse me??? she is 5!!!

UGH!!!

On top of that the reason I didnt have my car to drive was because it died and I had to take it to the shop this morning, turns out the Tranny is shot and its going to cost me $2200. to fix it.

Can I cry now? :(

Yes, it's over, she's safe, you can cry now.

I think what really got me was when I went into the classroom a lady said " was your daughter wearing a purple skirt? " I said no and she said " ok theres a girl walking down ( a busy street) all by herself crying relaly hard we stopped to help but someone else was helping her"

how does a Kindergartner just walk away from a school????

Oh binny, I feel your pain! I'm sorry. I know you must have been panic striken! I hope you give a few people a few well placed earfuls! I'm glad Kaylee wasn't frightened. Then to have your car troubles too - yikes!

Isabella rode the bus on the second day of school last year (kindergarten). I asked the bus driver on the am route to keep an eye on her but she forgot and didn't tell her to get off at the primary school. She was the last kid on the bus when the middle school kids got off and the bus driver finally noticed her and took her back to her own school - 20 minutes late! Isabella was confused and upset but no one called me. Then the pm driver that day sent her off the bus at the wrong stop! We could see a little kid we thought was her several hundred yards down the street from where we were waiting for her. The driver noticed us waving our arms and yelled to her as she ran down a street she didn't know looking for us........... When she got off at the right stop she jumped in my arms crying and said "They keep mixing me up and I don't know where to go." She hasn't ridden the blasted bus again. And the bus company wasn't the least bit concerned when I called to complain..........

Oh boy! Been there, done that when my daughter was five.

They put her on the wrong bus, and my neighbor and I ran up to the school. Boy was I ticked!

But, not as ticked as the day she ran into the wall in gym class.
She hurt her nose. No problem, they said, she didn't bleed, so I am sure it is not broken.
(they did not call me for 2 1/2 hours) Guess where they put her?
In the office, she fell asleep!! Then they told me she must have gone to lunch because she wasn't in the office anymore.
Her nose was huge!!! Took her to urgent care....fractured nose.
Let me tell you...they changed their tune after I ran in the office telling them how fractured it was.

Man on man...what is going on with the school systems?

Sorry for the many same posts by me. These boards run way too slow sometimes and I must have him submit when it was stuck and it took them all. Oops!!!

How scary for you!:scared1: :scared: :scared:

How could they not know what bus she was suppose to be on?
On the bright side at least she is safe. Hopefully aside from the bus issue she enjoyed her first day at school! I know you didn't!

Sorry about the trannsy! Ouch!

I am sure you can't wait for this day to be over!

Jodi:wave2:

OMG, I would've been freaking out! Thank goodness she was ok. I just can't believe how nonchalant the school was! It was a freaking child they lost, not a backpack! Geez!

How scary. I'm so sorry that happened. So glad she's home safe and sound now.

And you were so upset about it being her first day...I'm so sorry that her first day had to end this way.

I'm soo glad she is safe now. You deserve a nice relaxing evening after today...run yourself a nice hot bath after everyone is down for the night and just relax!

We do hear about these incidences pretty often at the beginning of school. Kids that don't know where they are supposed to be. Teachers and bus drivers that don't either.

Not excusing it at all, just a warning that it does happen.

That's terrible. Our school system has the kindergarten and 1st grade students WEAR their bus card for at least the first week. The driver knows to look out and make sure they're getting out at the right stop, and will not let them off the bus if nobody's there to meet them.

Omgosh!!! {{{{{{{BINNY}}}}}}} I can believe it though! The bus driver was nice this morning but late and it took her 1hour and 5 min to get Elli home today! I'm thinking the school district didn't get the most competent bus drivers this year! I don't think they are paying enough to get good ones? At least Kaylee was none the wiser, it would have been worse if she was scared!

I totally understand how upset you are. Two years ago, my son, then 5, wnt missing from school on the first day, and they didn't call me until 45 mins later when he was found!

In the morning, several parents were waiting at the bus stop to put the kids on the bus. The bus never came, so we all drove our kids to school. I found his teacher, and explained that he DOES take the bus, but didn't that morning because it was late. All of the children had their hands stamped with their bus number as they came of the bus; since he didn't come on the bus he wasn't stamped. I watched her take out her class list and write the bus # and bus stop beside his name. Later I went back to the school to drop something off, and I went to the office to make sure that my children would be stamped so they would know what bus to get on in the afternoon. About 30 mins after school let out I got a call from my teenage sitter, who had been waiting at the bus stop. When only my daughter got off the bus, she called me to see where DS was. She and my DD went back to the bus stop, and found him walking down the street. At 5 years old, he had walked by himself through 2 areas of (major) construction, and crossed 3 streets. He said that since he didn't have a stamp on his hand he didn't think he was allowed to take the bus, so he just walked. It was about 1.5 miles. We were furious!
