They lost my cake order!

The Coral Reef lost my order for my 10th anniversary cake! I can't tell you how upset I was, I even confirmed two weeks prior and this still happened. My DH & kids liked that frozen cake. I however found half of my piece was still frozen and the whipped creme icing was so melted it was falling off. I ordered my cake a few months ago and I was do looking forward to it. When I confirmed two weeks prior to my trip Debbi confirmed that everything was all set. Sorry I just had to vent and I guess that I should have confirmed the day before.
 
I know how you feel. They gave my cake away. I was at CRT (before the change) for dinner for my 50th B'Day -- during the 50th celebration. My family ordered a chocolate cake for me and when the server when to get it, it was gone. They gave it to another family. I had to settle for a cake with white frosting and was plain. All of the planning my husband did just fell apart. The CM did pull my husband aside and told him of the mistake prior to bringing out the cake.

Just an fyi for others....they do not need that much notice and the earlier you order the cake, the higher the chance that they will loose it.

The cake hot line even states they only need 48 hours notice.

IMHO, I would order a cake a week before my trip and then confirm the day before I leave for Disney. Then I would confirm again at the podium.

I hope this doesn't happen to anyone else. It's so disappointing. :(
 
Wow- this sounds so familiar!!! They lost mine too!! 2 of them!! We had dinner ressies for Grand Fl Cafe---which was to have the characters because 1900 Park Fare was closed-refurbishment. Well they opened early & didn't call me to tell me they moved them to 1900-have called about a cake weeks b4 for DD bday,was so confused w/the ressies being switched that we stayed @ Grand -kids would have liked 1900 much better. Didn't bring cake over & I forgot it too. Then for our 9 yr anniversary they forgot our cake @ Concourse (made sure to ask about when cked in -no we don't have that----and they couldn't thaw out a cake for dessert-it was still frozen when we would have have dessert) I wasn't charged for either cake-I made sure of that....but was so MAD:mad: (And i confirmed about 2wks prior also!)
 

I am so sorry! How disappointing and frustrating. I know how much planning we do to make our trips extra special and when something like this gets dropped, it hurts, doesn't it?

Good advice about the 48 hours. I know I would want to do it so much in advance too.

Hope the rest of the trip was magical!

That is good advise about the 48 hours. Actually that makes it easier I think. I went crazy last year with my cake order. Luckily it came out great.
 
Thanks for the info I will call and confirm ours the day before we leave. It is my sisters 50th and her first trip to the world.

Aagh, not some thing else to worry about. My ds birthday is 11/7 and we were planning on doing a cake. Thanks for the advice. Although he now says he wants "The kitchen sink" at Beaches and cream instead. :laughing:

This is outrageous! They gave your cake to another family? Didn't they do anything else to try and make it up to you besides just replacing your special ordered cake with a plain frozen cake?
 
I can't believe some of these stories and i'm very sorry to hear that you guys have had similar situations. I also did confirm at the podium when I arrived, I was told that the cake, diver and menus we're all good. So I figured it was all ok. Again i;m sorry to those of you who have also had this happen, it's a terrible disappointment to alot of planning.
 
1) We only order cakes after arrival at WDW.
2) We also order 24-48 hrs in advance.
3) But, sometimes errors do happen.
4) You just have to role with the punches.
5) Think of it as a speed bump on the road of life.
6) It isn't a disaster, just an inconvenience.
 
:goodvibes I had ordered two cakes for our Trip in Sept. Both were there when I wanted them. I seem to have a lot of trouble with there phone service. I never seem to talk to the right person. So I wrote letters, sent them through snail mail, to both places. CR and California Grill. I was called from both places. They gave me a number to get ahold of them when I got to our hotel. Instead of general info, I would either reach the person whom I had talked to earlier, or their voice mail. Both Ann from CR and Charlene from California Grill were great!

No they did nothing. The server was upset, but the damage was already done. I didn't even know until we left the restraurant and then my husband told me the story of how much effort he put into it calling and making arrangements. I did think it strange when they brought out a white cake and hubby knows I love chocolate. We didn't even eat it as we were full from dinner. We ended up throwing it out after it sat around the room for a couple of days.
 
I'm so sorry! I would've been disappointed, especially for a 10th Anniversary. I hope you had a memorable trip nonetheless. and CONGRATS! :cloud9:
