They Don't Eat Hash Browns in Princessland - May 14 COMPLETE! 2/8 pg. 73

Thinking about your bird singing outside of your window, reminds me of 2 things.

At first: Mary Poppins

poppins.jpg

Then I think of that scene from Shrek...

Fiona's Bird Song

:rolleyes1:rotfl2:

This bird is telling you the story of my bedroom window, excepting the bit about the dogs and people on cell phones who ignore basic courtesy and sing you the songs of their drama until about 1 am.

Ahh, suburbia. Oh well, I'm adapted well for a first story room at a Value, right?

Thanks for more vacation sharing! The balloon looks very fun, but the margarita is more my wheelhouse. ;) Can't wait to read about the 24 hour party!

Oh no! Yeah, I don't have a problem with the birds in my neighborhood, but I do have a problem with a stupid kid that just likes to fly down the street revving his engine. It makes no sense to me and happens at the most inopportune times!

The margarita is amazing. A good way to just wander around Downtown Disney.

Mmmm, the pizza looks yummy!

Nice that you got in another DISmeet!

Hey, I have that shirt! :goodvibes

The balloon looks fun – nice views!

Oh, my – just look at those massive margarita glasses!

Smart idea on making the dinner ADR! :thumbsup2

Their pizza is always great. I've never been disappointed.

Hey, shirt twins! I got that at Target right before we left.

Yup. Massive margaritas are right up my alley. :thumbsup2

I figured that the ADR would be a good way to be prepared for the next day, in case anything prevented us from getting in for the night. It was between Crystal Palace and Tony's, so we went with CP.

Hey - I've been a lurker too long. I've read all of your reports and loved them. I'm not sure why I don't post on trip reports too much, I really enjoy them.

Apparently all it took is knowing that another person loves the NFL bad lip reading as much as we do here at our house. My personal favorite line is:
"I found Fido. Hey, I found Fido. I found Fido, you guys." :rotfl2: It just never gets old!

Any way - I love your reports, very enjoyable to read.

:welcome: I'm glad that you've decided to post! Thanks for reading all of my TR's. :goodvibes

OMG, NFL bad lip reading is just the best. It just cracks me up every time. "Stank. Hambone!" :rotfl2:

Nice call driving instead of taking the bus! Okay everyone I hear talk about parking at DTD says it is horrible, but not for you, you must have a parking god on your side:rotfl:

Wolfgang Puck Express looks awesome, maybe this December I will finally be able to try them(since it will only be a walk away)

I am with your mom, keep me on the ground! :rotfl2:The flight looks like it was a lot of fun though.

Believe me, only on this trip did we seem to have the parking gods on our side, because that's normally not the case.

You definitely have to go to Wolfgang Puck Express! It's one of my favorite places to eat at Disney. There was one trip where I actually ate there like four times. :rotfl2:

The flight was really awesome. Definitely not for one who's afraid of heights, but for everyone else, lots of fun.

Wolfgang Puck Express!!! I love it so much. That mac and cheese is life-giving.

My dad and sister did Characters in Flight but I was too much of a weenie. The views look awesome, though!

Not cool about the false advertising! Though it's probably dangerous to have such huge margaritas at such a low price.

Good idea on the dinner reservation front!!

OMG, I know! Everything I ever eat at WPE is amazing.

Awww, don't be a weenie! Unless you're totally afraid of heights. Then I understand. It was a lot of fun.

It would be dangerous to have a huge margarita at such a low price. I was really hoping for it though. :rotfl2:

Another fun DIS meet! Looks like you guys had a nice time. And those margaritas?! YUMMO. I will be stopping at Paradiso next trip, that's for sure.

I am with your mom on that balloon; I don't mind flying but otherwise, heights + me = no bueno. I'd be a basket case up there. But glad to see you guys had a good time!

Once again, your dad is hysterical! I loved his margarita picture. :lmao:

We had a nice time for sure. Oh yeah, stop at Paradiso, because I think that the stand is out there all of the time.

Yeah, she's kind of the same way. She is okay with flying, but anything else up high not so much.

Pop's always firing on all cylinders. :rotfl:

Really cool DISmeet. Why not try out the Characters of Flight balloon? That's one of those things that are always there but you just never find the time to try it out.

I LOVE the bad lip reading videos. Hilarious.

I think my favorite part of the picture of Popadon with the giant margaritas is someone's hand reaching out for the red cup, like, "Give it back! Don't take my booze away from me.":rotfl2:

yeah for another DISmeet - and great for parking karma again!

Great pictures from the Characters in Flight - that is definitely something on my Disney bucket list

Gotta love the misleading advertising ... like car commercials that focus on this awesome model with all the features and then close with their special lease pricing ... which is for a model that in no way resembles the one featured previously in the commercial

Though I guess it worked since knowing they had the giant margaritas prompted you to buy said giant margaritas ... although you should have gauged the amatureness of your crowd before purchasing them ... also, probably a smart move to double fist those bad boys after going on Characters in Flight ;)

dang, stupid bird .... doesn't it know you have the 24 hour day coming and need your rest!

Rottenecards_22551459_95jh89cc4r.png

I'm wishing that I could always get that parking karma. But I know how life works. We had great parking karma this last trip, which means the upcoming one will be a disaster. :rotfl2:

YES! That's exactly how I felt about the margarita. Don't play with my head!

It definitely was wise to get the margs after going on Characters in Flight. Otherwise we don't know what would have gone down.

That bird. If I had a BB gun. Who knows what would have happened.

Ah so awesome to have a nice relaxing DISmeet over dinner. Plus... Characters In Fight!!!!!! This is for sure a must do for me some day.

Hmmm... looks like you spotted a Scaredy Katt. (ba-da-bum)

IMG_4310.jpg

Oh yeah, that's one of my fav photos of ALL TIME!!!

IMG_4316.jpg

You definitely need to do Characters in Flight! It's a nice change from the normal Disney stuff that we do.

Hahaha. You dork. :lmao:

Gotta love the pic of me double fisting the margs, right?

those margaritas where very good. :thumbsup2. NO WAY will I go up in that balloon. Too much height fear. I'll stay on the ground below.

They were surprisingly good for being from a booth. Not the Ditch quality, but pretty decent.

Sounds like a fun time with Katt and Jenna! Love all the characters in flight pics, such a spectacular view.

Totally a smart idea to make that ADR. Oh I can't wait to hear all about the 24 hour day!!

We had a lot of fun that night. We would be having more fun the next day too. :thumbsup2

I thought it was a good idea to snag a dinner. I felt safer that way.

What a fun Dis Meet. Those Margaritas were huge. I'm glad you weren't getting on a ride after that.

Hahaha. Thankfully the margarita's weren't that strong, so I think we would have been okay if we did.

I agree, the view from the balloon is great, but there's NO way I'm ever going up in that!! Too scary!!

Oh, I never throw away alcohol either! :)

It's definitely not for someone who's afraid of heights.

Neither do I! It's sacrilege to waste alcohol! :rotfl2:

Hi Danielle! I have a super-long weekend this week, so I’m getting caught up on my own TR and all the ones I’m following a little earlier than usual! :woohoo:

Nice! I'm jealous of your super long weekend! Wish I had one. :rotfl2:

Poor Belle - she does look a little, um, surprised in that picture. :confused3

Willow and I both LOVE the pic of the bulldog in the ice. Too cute!

Yeah, she was a little surprised for sure. That's the word for it.

That bulldog picture would have totally been me if there was ice around. I'm totally serious. Glad Willow thought it was cute!

Fantastic “we-sies” with Alice! She sounds amazing.

Lots of great princess meets there - poor Aladdin……

And another fun DIS meet too! Very cool!

The we-sies with Alice was a highlight of that day. She was so on point.

Characters in Flight! I’m pretty sure this is the first TR I have read in which someone actually did this - every time I have read one where it was attempted, the balloon was grounded due to wind. I’m glad to hear it was fun!

OMG - that is the perfect sized margarita!!!! I want one RIGHT NOW!

Ugh, too bad about the Loud-Mouthed Bird the night before the 24 Day! :scared1:

Wow, cool! Yup, weather was perfect for the balloon on this day, so it worked out well.

It was definitely the perfect size. I was all like "whaaaattt" when others dumped theirs. That doesn't fly in my book. :rotfl2:

And he didn't go away either. He stayed there until we checked out. Jerk.

How have I only just found this TR? I can't believe what I was missing! :rotfl:

Seriously enjoying reading along, and hearing about all the shenanigans.

NFL Bad Lip Reading! "Pick up your floorbags!"

:welcome: I'm really glad you're here and I'm glad you enjoy it! I hopped on board one of your TR's a few years back I believe. I'm glad you've decided to read along with mine.

That's one of my favorite lines from NFL Bad Lip Reading! :rotfl2:

OK, just got home from my trip. Catching up on the TR now! It's fun to read about your trip in Katt's TR, then turn around and read YOUR side of it in YOUR TR. I love Dismeets!

Awww, boo to being back already. Although I can't wait to hear about it when you write your TR.

I love DISmeets too! I hope to have them all the time on my trips. :goodvibes

Oh my goodness, thank you so much for bringing the NFL bad lip reading into my life. My abs hurt from laughing! I just sent the video link to my family. I am pretty sure that will be the highlight of the whole day!!!

Can't wait to hear your take on the 24-hr party!

You're welcome! Seriously, everyone needs NFL Bad Lip Reading in their lives. :rotfl2: And I'm glad it was the highlight of your whole day.

I love WPE, especially the pizza! Now you've got me craving it.

I want to do that balloon ride so badly! Are reservations required or can you just buy tickets the same day?

Glad you had a good time with Katt and Jenna.

Looking forward to reading about the 24 hour day.

I always crave WPE, I'm not gonna lie.

Nope, you can buy tickets same day. No need for reservations. We walked right up, bought the tickets and were on in a matter of minutes.

First of all, I love the NFL Lip Reading videos. I've probably watched them 50 times and still re-watched the link when you posted it.

WPE looks delish. We are trying that this vacation, I can't wait!

Awesome DISmeet with Katt. She's such a sweetie!

Right?! I re-watched it too when I posted it. :lmao:

Yay! I hope you really love it! WPE is one of my favorites.

She really is. I love spending time with her when we're there together.

Looking for some smiles today, so I came over to your trip report.

:cool1:

A couple of really cool DISmeets, with Missy and with Carla!

I'm glad I could give you some smiles in your day. :thumbsup2

It was so nice to meet both of them! And totally felt awesome to be recognized on the "street" at MK.

Cinnamon roll looks great!!! I haven't had one of those.

Sorry to hear your dad's leg was bothering him. I can understand how that would be both concerning and frustrating for you.

But good for you all not to stay mad.

Oh, you need to get a cinnamon roll. They are amazing! I think they're better than the old Main Street Bakery ones, but that's mainly because it has caramel on it.

Yeah, we didn't stay mad too long. It was really in his best interest.

:thumbsup2

Your meeting with Gaston was hilarious!!!

So, it doesn't look like he was interested in Papadon at all.

:confused3

Gaston was awesome! Popadon actually didn't even come over there to meet him! He just sat on his booty and ate his pork shank. :lmao:

So glad you all enjoyed your lunch at BOG! What a great place that is.

In August, I had the seared tuna like your dad. I really wanted the braised pork, but I was still stuffed from the breakfast I had, so I went with something lighter.

YUM! Your cake cup desserts looked great! I don't know what rock I have been hiding under, but I didn't know these things existed. Keeping this in mind for my June trip.

:goodvibes

It's a really great place! I love lunch there. The only time we've had dinner it was underwhelming, but we have a reservation for this upcoming trip, so hopefully it's better.

Yeah, the braised pork is a little bit heavy, so I wouldn't eat it if you had a heavy breakfast.

OMG, they are amazing! I highly highly recommend cake cups.

Just stumbled upon your trip report so I thought I would say hi! (I'm trying not to lurk as much). I am no where near caught up, I'm still on day 2, but it's great so far. You are hilarious and so are your parents! Can't wait to read more about your adventures!!

:welcome: I'm glad you decided to say hello! Take your time catching up, I won't be finished for a little bit. And I'm glad you enjoy it.

Danielle, I'm caught up (we've had some family issues that I've not posted on FB because I didn't want to spoil my brother's big day of becoming a Grandpa yesterday so it's only on my TR).

In any event, great update. As I was reading I thought to myself, I've already seen this. And then I remembered I had read Katt's.

I love WPE and the pizza looks yummy. And I laughed again at Popadon's face on the balloon ride and Katt acting scared.

Stupid bird. I try to sleep in on the weekends since I'm up during the week at 5:30 a.m. every day and the stupid geese are out there waking me up at 6:30 in the a.m.

Reading from my phone so I did not check out the nfl link, but I will.

Also - totally remember the giant Rita's but what's with the false advertising. Me no like.

I have to come back and see you flight pictures. Wasn't that so much fun?!? Sorry your mom couldn't handle the height. I found I just sort of detached myself from that, although I'm not really afraid of heights. I loved it.

You definitely need to make sure you check it out. They're hysterical! :lmao:

Right? Don't be like "$5 margaritas!" and then you don't see the tiny cup until you're right on top of them.

It was so much fun! I wish Mom could have done it, but her fear of heights is pretty big. Things at Disney are okay, but certain things she just won't do.

See, I think Characters in Flight is deceiving. Like there should be characters in the balloon doing a meet and greet or something. Tink should be there to sprinkle fairy dust to make it fly!

I am a pro at margaritas, especially at Disney, so if you ever need a Marg partner just holler at me :thumbsup2

That would be awesome! You need to patent that idea and then tell Disney they need to do it.

I am always up for a marg partner! :goodvibes

Exactly! It was a lot of fun to have the DISmeet and then to do something new. What a way to end the day, right?

OMG, I know. Best ever. I like all of them.

Hahaha, that's my Mom's hand. And that's because she doesn't trust Pop not to drop them. :rotfl2:

I read it on your TR Kathy tonight, I am so so sorry about everything. When I see you next, you'll get a belated hug from me.

Haha, familiar much, right? I'm behind most other people on their TR's when they met me, because their trip started when I was days into mine!

The balloon ride was a lot of fun. Of course we all acted silly. It's the norm for us, right?

UGH. Birds and their stupid chirpiness!

I said it on Katt's TR and I'll say it here, I'm far too scared of heights to ever do Characters in Flight. But I'm glad that you enjoyed it.

Not surprised your Pop would want to go sky diving ;) He's way more adventurous than I am.

That's a lot of drink to finish, so Ii understand how they shared with the bushes :p Clearly we can't all get our drink on like you.

Brilliant move with the reservation but bummer about the bird. They can be such jerks when they want to be.

Yup, it's definitely not for everyone. I completely understand. LOL.

He used to jump out of planes in Vietnam, so one of his favorite things to say is "that's a perfectly good plane to jump out of!" He's a weirdo.

I'm a professional drinker. I admit it wholeheartedly.

They really are jerks! Stupid birds.

Pop and my dad have something in common, my dad was a paratrooper as well! How cool is that! My dad still talks about how much he loved it and it was the best life! I know if it wasn't for a serious back injury, he would jump again even at 78!!

Ok, I wanted one of those margarita's so badly...were they delish? We walked by and everyone said "no I'm too full"....geesh:confused3

That's awesome! He loved jumping out of planes. I'm sure he would totally do it again, he talks about it all the time too.

They were pretty good. Not on par with the Ditch or anything, but a decent margarita. :goodvibes

Day 9 - Friday May 23, 2014

The 24 Hour Party

The day had arrived. This entire trip totally felt like it was leading up to this point. We were finally upon the 24 hour party!

I was feeling like that on the inside. For reals though. However, on the outside, I was a bit more like this.

That stupid dang bird pretty much sang the entire night next to my window. I'm not exaggerating when I say I don't think I fell asleep for a straight hour at a time due to his obnoxiousness. I was not wide awake by any means, but I would muddle through. I must.

We mustn't dwell. No, not today. We can't.

Not on the 24 hour day.

I woke up first and Mom was right behind me. We started to get ready in our first Disneybounds of the day.

What do you guys think? Did our Disneybounds turn out okay?

Our plan was to be at the bus stop by 5am. I figured that would give us plenty of time to get to the park and be there for rope drop with time to spare. We headed out to the bus stop right on time, and there was a bunch of people already there. Not tons of people by any means, but a decent amount.

There was an awesome girl already there in Belle's village outfit, and we started chatting about the 24 hour party. She had planned this trip before they announced it, just like we did. So we had really good timing with just being in the right place at the right time.

Like a doofus I forgot to take a picture of her. Stupid singing bird - 1. Danielle - 0.

There was a couple there about my parents age that started to chat my Pop up. So my Pop was being amiable and nice.

And apparently he totally made some rude remark towards my Pop that he was essentially a girl for carrying around "his purse".

First: Old fart. You best be happy I was not within earshot. Because had I been.....

Second: Old fart. You clearly do not understand that men have been carrying bags in Europe FOREVER! And they are completely comfortable with their masculinity.

Third: Old fart. No one makes fun of my Popadon! I'm sorry you're so insecure in your manhood that you need to make ignorant comments like that.

Pop didn't tell me about it until later on, but I was pretty miffed. He didn't let it get to him though. He said it really didn't matter, he was just an idiot.

Truer words have never been spoken.

ANYWAY. The bus came in no time, which was awesome. We didn't have to wait much and we arrived at the Magic Kingdom by 5:30am. Everyone was super excited at that point when the bus arrived and gave off a cheer.

There was a good amount of people already there, plus the radio station, and a lot of media. It was pretty cool. It's becoming a big deal and a big draw, so I wouldn't be surprised if they do another one next year. And, if they do. The timing may just end up being around another planned trip I have. :woohoo:

We were pretty excited to be there. Even if it was 5:30am and it was still dark out.

Mom asked me exactly how excited we were?

On my FB feed, I saw a lot of super negative remarks about Disney's 24 hour party, and how they're beating a dead horse, and this from a Disney Junkies site. Listen, I know that everyone is entitled to their opinion. I'm not trying to take that away from anyone. But why does everyone have to be so negative all the time? Like, I'm here, having a good time, excited to just have some fun. Why can't we just get back to that.

I ignored it, as I didn't want that kind of negativity in my space at that moment.

The park is going to be open 24 hours! But first.....

lemme take a selfie.

Soon, the super early welcome show started.

Oh hey Goofy hat all up in the shots the whole time.

The 24 hour party was Heroes and Villains themed, so the welcome show had a mix of both of those.

I had been texting Katt for a little while to find out where she was. She said that they had waited for a bus at Pop, and then ended up taking a cab because the bus literally never came! So, they waited outside the magic-styles because she didn't want Jenna to miss the welcome show. We had been early enough that we were pretty much right up front.

During the opening I was also texting my IG friend Kathryn. The Disney community is so large, it's awesome that you can meet people everywhere. I've made friends on the DIS and on Instagram, and Kathryn was someone I had met through Instagram. I had another IG meet up on this day too, it was pretty awesome.

Kathryn and I agreed to meet at the Emporium. We were both heading there first to check out if the merchandise was any good.

Once we were let through the entrance, this was the mass that surrounded us. For being so early, there were a lot of people there.

We headed straight to the Emporium to check out the merch. And basically so did everyone else.

The merchandise was underwhelming. There was a shirt and a few other things. But the pin, which is what I wanted, wasn't there!

So I asked a CM. Apparently, they were selling them at DTD, but not at the actual party.

Does that make sense? It truly doesn't to me.

It wasn't a deal breaker for me, but a little annoying. I think they figured there would be madness over the pins? Who knows.

This was the shirt that we didn't get. I know, it was a limited time event, but I don't like spending money unless I really like what I'm getting. It's cool, but I hate regular t-shirts. :lmao:

Lo and behold, Kathryn was already in the store and I was able to meet her and get a photo op.

She's so absolutely adorable, I just love her. We got to see her later in the trip. To tell you how sweet she is, later that day during our break from the 24 hour party she had gone to Downtown Disney, and she picked me up a pin for the 24 hour party because I couldn't get one at the Emporium! She's totally sweet.

We chatted for a little while (we would see each other a few more times during the day and the trip) and parted ways.

I texted Katt at that point to see where they were. She responded that they were heading to the Friar's Nook, because there was supposed to be an Olaf cup, and they wanted to check it out. I told her that we were on our way and would meet them there.

Seeing the castle at sunrise is not something you get to see often.

Continuing with a theme. OMG there's a castle. But first....

lemme take a selfie.

Continued in next post:

Awwww I love all of the things! I think your mom's Disbounding outfit is my favorite, though I definitely know who you are which is impressive for a tee and shorts combo. I *love* Kathryn's Rapunzel tee and ears; how sweet!

And the Castle at Sunrise-I bet that was it's own special kind of magic. :) Thanks for vacation sharing!

Continued from previous post:

I finished taking some pictures of the castle at sunrise, and my phone went off with a text message.

The text message was from Katt, and it simply said:

MINE TRAIN!

I immediately texted her back and said "SHUT UP! ALMOST THERE!"

They were lined up by the new castle wall, and the P's and I hopped in line with them.

Yes. I line jumped. DO NOT JUDGE ME!

Wait time for the Mine Train. 20 minutes. Awwwwww yeah.

It paid to get there at 6am y'all. It totally paid.

Of course, had to get some pics of the line.

Yes, we all totally played with these.

At this point, something totally funny happened. There was a group in front of us that kept stopping and letting their entire group pose for pictures. However, the line at that point was fast moving. We were pretty much walking straight through. Yet they insisted on stopping.

Jenna and Katt wanted none of them, so they totally just sauntered right past them. And the girl looks at them and is like "we're in line!"

I stood back, because I am the last person that wants to start that kind of confrontation in line.

Jenna just turns to the girl, and with her sweetest face.

I'm not gonna lie, I almost died laughing.

Thankfully, the tension in line only lasted like 2 minutes longer, because we boarded the train shortly after that.

Mine train selfie!

Hey Pop, I see your bald head!

I didn't get a great picture of the final scene, because I was trying to focus on the ride and take pictures at the same time. Let me tell you, that's not easy to do.

So what were our thoughts on the ride? I loved the attraction. And here's why. No, it's not a thrill ride. Yes, I understand that it took them forever to build it. And I understand that it could be a little bit longer.

But this. This was pure Disney to me. Everything about that attraction screamed Disney. I don't need pizzaz. I don't need speed. I want Disney. And that attraction to me has it in spades.

Up next: Tink. Meet Tink.

Moms turned out really well. I originally had pants planned, but the temperature just climbed up so high during the week that I had to go with the shorts.

Her tee and ears are awesome! The shirt was a tech shirt she had made for the Princess Half Marathon that year. :thumbsup2

It definitely was. I'd never been able to see that and it was pretty awesome.
