We checked into OKW on Jan 1. We spent the night at CBR (which was very nice, by the way) and while my husband was putting in 8 miles of running, I decided to go ahead and check into OKW for us. Kind of trying to get our room early if possible.
Well, our room wasn't available until 4:30PM. Or at least that's what they told us on the phone. We went over to move into the villa and found housekeeping frantically trying to clean the villa since it was a mess, champagne bottles outside the room, trash all over the place. The housekeeper told us the previous guests had just left a little after 4PM. Which was about the time we called to see if the room was ready and the CM said it wasn't, but she would put a rush on it since it should have been ready.
Needless to say, we were a bit upset, mostly because someone else thought they didn't have to leave OUR room. We found out that at OKW alone, there were about 5 villas that the guests did not move out of at 11AM as required. They left to go to the parks with their stuff all over the room or failed to respond to calls and knocks on the doors because they were hung over or just plain rude.
The housekeepers were great, did a wonderful job (THANKS, Sheridan!!!! You've already been mentioned to the manager.) And we were finally able to get into the room by 5:30. I spoke with the manager, Carl, who told me that these rude people (all 5 villas) were charged for an extra night because they didn't leave. If they were members, I wish they would be fined or something. If they were renters, they shouldn't be allowed to rent again. If they purchased the reservation through CRO, they should also not be allowed to rent a DVC villa again.
Carl was very nice when I spoke with him. He offered to purchase our dinner that we had shortly before I spoke with him and I accepted that.
But I just can't get over slobs who are so inconsiderate of the incoming guests. What should be done to people who refuse to vacate the villa as required?
