I'm glad to inform those of you that mentioned Heads Up Seven Up, that it is alive and well in elementary schools these days...


The biggest doozie from my elementary school days was my 4th grade teacher had a (I am NOT kidding) human brain preserved in a container in our classroom.

The biggest fear that I've ever had as a student was that I would get in trouble and have to wash the brain.


No, that never happened to me or anyone else, but man, what a scary rumor!

DH was in Parochial school, and started giggling at something in class. The priest teaching the class walked up behind him, slammed both hands onto DH's ears, and punched his head from behind. DH can't remember what happened next, he blacked out. No one did anything...the kids were too scared and the priest was just an evil being.

We had a paddle in HS PE. In our gym class, something happened and the PE teacher told everyone that had something to do with it to come forward. Luckily I was not involved, those that were got smacked.

We were not allowed to wear shorts. But we were allowed to wear mini skirts. So my friend and I wore large tie-dyed t-shirts that came about 3 inches below our butts, and wore shorts underneath. A skirt that short was OK, but shorts that wouldn't fly up in the air were forbidden.

We also had off campus lunch privileges when we were seniors. There was no place to walk to except a drug store.

I wore low cut hip huggers (my mom's rule was that you couldn't see my crack when I sat down.) purchased at "Pants Galore" or "Jeans Galore" (someone in Detroit area, please tell me you remember these places!) with a halter top. It was allowed, my flat (at the time) belly showed, and a senior said that meant I was "horny".

As a sophomore, my BFF and I laid out on the lawn of HS and colored in coloring books.
