They canceled FP's AGAIN!

I lost my 7DMT FP+ for 9/27 at 5:55pm. I called and apparently got the best CM ever because it took him all of 5 minutes to get rid of the Splash FP+ (which had my family split across 3 hours) and give me an anytime FP+ for 7DMT. I didn't have to get ugly with him or argue for it. He just fixed it. My latest FP+ for that day is 4:25pm. Hopefully, that's the last of the glitches.

That's strange. I thought it was just times after 6 they were cancelling.

I'm glad they didn't make you beg!

I thought it was any that ended 6:30 and later. So if it was 5:55-6:55, then it makes sense.

WOOHOO! Managed to get an anytime FP+! :) So like everyone says: Call and don't accept no for an answer!
What # did you call? They just cancelled my Haunted Mansion for 6-7 on a party night and split my family of 6 to 2 different overlapping FPs for Jungle Cruise at 2:30!!
I have not decided yet which night to do the party - so if we are there with a regular ticket and can get in line for a ride up until the park closes for us at 7 PM, wouldn't it be better for them if we are FP+ing that ride so we can leave the park on time??! I am not making this FP+ with a party ticket, but with my regular admission for the day - and that has always entitled me to enter a line up until closing time. Are they going to start keeping non-party people out of the lines at 6 or 6:30?

I called the number listed at the bottom of the email: 407-939-7660. I got through right away (which shocked me so much I took a second to answer back because I couldn't believe that someone would pick up right after the third or fourth ring!)

This is true at a lot of places because companies are underpaying IT. You get what you pay for. I have my master's in educational technology... We have schools in our state that want IT people who can both handle all equipment and networking throughout the entire school, and also meet one-on-one with teachers to coach them in technology and help them integrate technology into their lesson planning. How much are they offering for this extremely over-taxing position that should actually be two separate jobs? $18 an hour, no benefits, no admittance into the union that the rest of faculty are part of -- in one of the most expensive states in the country w/ a high-cost of living. That's why they have a hard time filling the position with competent people. Even if they find competent people, they're trying to do too much in a poor infrastructure. I would not be at all surprised if WDW is cutting corners w/ IT.

All of this. I have an MSEd and my focus was educational technology as well. I feel your pain, and I would also not be surprised if Disney was going that same route. I can understand why people are angry when it's being handled this badly. :/

Keep checking if you are still looking for a mine train FP. I was just able to book one for the same day as my original one - this time at 210pm. Good luck!

Thank you gem21! I called and they were still answering the phones. A very nice and accommodating CM took a lot of time and effort to reassure me that he would straighten my problem out for me and get me the FP+ we had lost (Haunted Mansion at 6-7PM for 6). It took quite a long time, but he issued me an anytime (9AM - 7PM) FP+ for Haunted Mansion for that day for 6.
He explained that this is a glitch in the system that is kicking out/reassigning FP+s on party days. He said they are working hard to make it right - I did not even have to ask for an anytime FP+. I can only assume that since my FP+ goes until 7PM that it is not their intention to stop allowing use of FP+s before then on party nights.
OK, off to bed - this whole FP+ system is waaaay more work and trouble for me than it's worth. But at least for this day, my plans seem good - as long as the system doesn't 'glitch' again in the next 2 months!

Well.. we've come a ways in the past few days. First it was an alleged refurbishment of SDMT; then it was just a random glitch in the system; and now it's a glitch on party days. They wouldn't even admit the concept of party days affecting the glitch in the beginning. Did he also mention the 6-7+ time block that we figured out? Because that's also part of it.

It's crazy, isn't it? No, he did not mention the 6-7 time block, but he did reissue my FP+ to cover that time period. I don't get where it would make sense for Disney to do this on purpose. They just paid their IT guy for the 31 mins it took via the phone to give me back the FP+ that it originally took me only a few mins to book on-line. Go figure.
I remember one trip when BOG was not put into the system for 7 days past the booking window - DISers were reporting crazy excuses being given - I was calling several times a days and was being told everything from 'it's all booked that day' to the honest 'we just haven't put it in the system yet - keep checking'. On day 7 it miraculously went into the system and all times were open and available.
Sometimes the CMs just say either whatever they are told to say, or whatever is easiest to pacify a guest and get them off the phone.
I'm just grateful this CM tonight was so helpful, understanding and polite.

That is exactly it. And that's what I mean by PR and dishonesty.

I'm glad your situation and my situation was both fixed, though. That's something.

I had BTMRR and Haunted Mansion Fps cancelled. They were both slotted between 6pm and 7pm on the MNSSHP nights. If they were going to put a time limit on when FPs could be reserved they should have done this before the 60 day mark. This won't ruin my park day but it is frustrating when you've mapped out your schedule in advance. All the alternative times I've been offered are when I won't be in the park.

I got through right away as well.

Well, from another POV...it's better that they did it now when you still have plenty of time to pick something else for your FP+ than if they waited until the last minute to cancel them and all the 'good' fp+ for that day were unavailable.
I'm all for trying to make the best of a bad situation, but that's like being grateful an arsonist waited for me to leave home before setting my house on fire.

I would imagine even the most ardent FP+ fan can see that Disney is bungling things.

So people going to the party can make FPs from 4pm to 7pm, right? Using their party ticket. Even though the party doesn't officially start until 7 pm.

Day guests now seem to have problems (to put it mildly) making a FP from 6-7, even though the park doesn't officially close until 7 pm.

Doesn't seem fair. And of course the way they are handling this is totally unacceptable.

They just paid their IT guy
Nit alert: Most likely it was their Guest Services guy (who, in most companies, would be called Customer Support). You might get a Tech Support guy if you couldn't get the web site or your mobile app to work properly, but at most companies, wouldn't be considered IT either (except maybe at a very high level where a VP or Director of IT also manages the Tech Support people).

IT is usually the team that keeps their computers running, and if they're answering phone calls at all, it might be, for example, the hotel check-in agent whose computer just went on the fritz. Some companies will lump their software development people in with IT (say the software programmer who can't get the code to cancel FPs for party nights to work properly), while other companies will separate IT (keep our computer running) from development.

I think the anything in MK that ends after 6:30 on a party night is being cancelled. I wasn't able to make any FP reservations for those days that went past 6:30 when I made my FP earlier this week. I think the ones getting cancelled now are the ones that people moved back to 6-7 again.
That would be consistent timing with our MVMCP night last year. We visited a kiosk around 4 for a 4th FP+, and were told that the last FP+ windows of the night during party nights were the 5:30-6:30 window.

Disney needs to decide once and for all what the timing is going to be, and stop putting its guests through hoop jumping like this.

I called today and talked to he most wonderful CM. She wasn't able to fix the problem herself but she was able to get someone else to fix the issue and they gave me an anytime FP for my original Buzz. She even stayed on the line with me and chatted and gave me some tips for our trip while we waited for the other person to fix the issue. So anybody who had heir FP canceled call in and they should be able to fix the issue.

I love the DIS.. These conversations are so darn entertaining. I'm so glad that a FP cancelation can inspire such angst. You just cannot make this stuff up. Keep it coming. My trip is in 27 days and the beer is ordered. You have a bad day then stop on by POR.

Curious to see if they put them back in the system again. I thought mine was bad until I saw that they split families up like that. Unreal. :sad2:
