These Tiers are killing me

The Max Pass system at Disneyland is far superior. I know I'll get the "well Disney World is so much larger" speech, but it seems they could figure something like it out. The current system stinks. I'd rather go back to the old system of going from kiosk to kiosk and pulling paper tickets. My preference would be eliminating the tiers and make it Thunderdome.

To each their own, but I couldn't possibly disagree more. While I do find the 2 systems pretty equal as far as how much I'm able to ride and ease of booking FPs, WDW will take the edge every time because it's free. If I'm able to get just as much done for free as I would paying, I would not choose to pay. And absolutley no way would going back to paper FPs be better.

Have you used Max Pass at Disneyland? I'm guessing no, because there's no way the system at WDW is easier or more efficient.

I think the common thread in your position is that you state you travel solo. I guess that makes sense that you like the system as it is. Many or most of us are traveling with kids, and we aren't looking to have to constantly refresh and chase fast passes, break up into small groups, or otherwise game the system. The system should just work for the intended audience. As you state, agree to disagree, different strokes, different folks, and whatnot. The paid system may not be perfect, but when people are shelling out tons of cash already, being able to just enjoy the day is worth it. For us, the experience of riding what we want at Universal exceeds that at Disney by many fold. However, the experience of BEING at Disney is superior to Universal.

Yes, I have.
ETA: Why would I compare the 2 if I haven't used both of them?

While I do travel solo, 90% of the time I am not solo. Usually with family/friends in groups of 2-4, sometimes bigger. I wouldn't compare travelling solo to being in a larger group as I know that definitely affects things.

Your FP prowess is impressive! This is the maneuvering I’m looking to accomplish in November. But I’m worried about how this will go since there are no EEMH. I’m trying to ride four Tier 1 rides and MFSR in one partial day. (Having Five Tier 1 rides is ridiculous IMHO) I’m sure I will have to do some SB but I’m trying to figure out what and when.

Don't forget about the single rider for RnRC

The current problem is that the tier system at DHS is horrendous. I think Disney anticipated such overwhelming crowds for GE that they thought MFSR would be in a category apart, beyond the popularity of FOP, SDD, etc., so it just wouldn`t work with fast pass. That is clearly not the case. So what we have is a mess at DHS: an almost useless FP system there, considering that FP is supposed to be an ADVANCE reservation system for attractions. As it is, we can get one useful fast pass, and two quasi-useless ones.

If MFSR was on the tier system, they could have SR, SDD and AS2 as Tier One, and TSM, RnR, TOT and everything else as Tier 2. See, that would actually make sense. As it is, virtually everyone pre-books SDD as their Tier One choice, so that one is even harder to get now. It would be a lot easier to pre-plan your day at DHS if you could also get a Tier Two that was useful. That`s the way it was when TSL opened last year, and it worked great.

Or, they could continue the EEMH. For those of us fortunate enough to be at the park during the EEMH, it's been great! I'm fairly sure they're trying to level the crowds out a bit, however, for those who know how to use the system, it's being made harder and more frustrating. Not so much for me as I don't use fast passes unless I really need them. Some rides are fun and I get riding them a couple of times, but there are some attractions I wonder why I would want to ride them over and over. It's like sitting through the Muppets over and over all day as if expecting something different to happen. Now, they have the new midday pass. Those who can could go in the morning while the others go midday, then come back at night for the evening attractions. Spread it out a bit. The pre paid parties are becoming so crowded, to me, they're losing their allure, as I am all for cutting back somewhere else and paying for lesser crowds, but that's becoming less and less the case. We were reading today about the expected massive crowds in 2021, and I can't even begin to imagine "we ain't seen nothing yet".
In short, not really sure what their goal is.

Sadly, my DD15 is a bit of a chicken and definitely won't be up for this. Honestly, not sure I'll get her back on RnRC. We were first car of the day in front row in February for her first ride. I don't think her teenage brain was quite awake and she hasn't really recovered from it! She loves roller coasters but this one scarred her somehow. Hmmmmmm....maybe Mom will go SR alone!

I still don't understand making RnRC and ToT Tier 1. It seems that making them Tier 2 is how you spread the crowds out across the park all day. My bet is show attendance has dropped and this is their plan to force us to see Mermaid. Otherwise everyone would do rides and GE then leave.
