These may be old old rumors, but...

How would making DCA free possible help anything? It's already 'free' to AP'ers, and Park Hoppers. It seems one day guests are virtually the only ones actually paying to o there and how many of those do you think there are? It's great that someone, anyone finally admits that mistakes were made but I'd rather have the restitution come in the form of genuine upgrades, wouldn't you?

Also recent rumors I've heard have talked about how DCA's attendance really seems to be climbing lately. Are these reports wrong?

The only reason DCA's attendence could possibly be climbing is because DL has been having to do hard closes on recent weekends. On Veterans day for instance, DL closed it's doors at 11:30 AM.

Of course, it's simple math twice nothing is still nothing.

And I think you're missing my point, they are trying to get plans to do genuine upgrades. The problem is that so much of the park is so fundimentally wrong that you can't in any conceivable way charge anybody to enter it.
And, as you yourself said, most of the visitors are APers so they've already paid. DCA doesn't sell actual tickets.
So, you have a park that in order to fix, you're going to have to wall off major sections of the place including some of your ride capacity. There's no way you can sell tix for that.
So instead, you just dump the single day single park ticket. so any ticket you buy includes enterence to DCA on it and you start walling off what needs to be walled off.

Right now DCA isn't making any money at all. By doing it this way, you might get an uptick in visits, you'll expand capacity (if they manage to figure a way to make it a single enterance gate so that it's literally like adding more lands, then it would be even better) and you've made the books look better.

OK...I can buy that principle (good explanation), but I guess I'm in the minority when you talk about the need for a total overhaul. I just don't see that. The Park is very pretty and has a few very nice attractions. The fall down (IMO) was in the the carny rides, particularily Paradise Pier, which I agree could use a total makeover...

While I think the best plan would be to do a complete overhaul, including a new theme, I don't see it happening.

Maybe they will do some major reworking, but I'd expect that to come more in the form of added attractions as opposed to scrapping entire areas.

It does have a few nice touches, like Grizzly Peak and the Sun Fountain (or whatever its called). It also has a few, solid attractions, like Soarin'. But if they really want to do it right, even Soarin' would get a major overhaul in terms of themeing and story. Its a ride worthy of more.

'Course, most of the rest of the good attractions, like Tower, Tough to be a Bug and Muppets, are WDW knockoffs, which is another problem in my book, for whatever that's worth.

being pretty isn't really sufficent to avoid a major overhaul. It also doesn't have a coherent theme which is something the imagineers really want to do.

Living in the Key's I'm kind of fond of incoherent...But whatever floats your boat! ;) Really, I agree with Matt, as well. It's OK with me to dream of the big overhaul, just like I dream of FA being reinvested in properly or The Studios getting the new big show and the next (new) Indy ride or AK greenlighting BK, but dese tings not happenin, mon. DCA may get overhauled but it won't be pie in the sky I'm sure.
