These Kids Make Me Wish You Could Curse on the DISBoards (May '11 Trip) - DONE 9/14

Not true! I did comment on a comment MEK made to your comment, so by transitive property, I commented on your comment :)

Actually, the real reason is that the quote tag on your posts got mucked up somehow, and I got lazy :confused3

I WAS planning on commenting on them tomorrow, when I have more gas in the tank, but since you're INSISTING, I'll comment right now ;)

I do hope you know I was giving you a hard time. I know how difficult it is to keep up with one's own report plus all the others.

Great updates! And something new (to me) as well. I didn't know about that Hidden Mickey on Soarin'. And I thought I knew them all. I will definitely look for it next time (though at DCA-won't be at WDW for a few months yet).

Love pix of Dylan-so sweet. :cloud9:

What a sweet picture of Dylan, just the thing to show his dates to embarrass him. Of course this is when he gets a little older.:thumbsup2

My DH really likes Teppan Edo, so we will be enjoying it in Sept. I love to shop in Japan, lots of fun stuff.

I'm glad you all had a good time at Teppan Edo. I'm sure it was nice to find a meal everyone liked to eat.

I'll be interested to see how your day goes while taking it easy. I bet the kids are ready for a break.

That picture of Dylan is priceless! Does he really argue all the time? If so, I can totally relate as my older son was and still is like that.

Yes, all the time. He doesn't know when to stop, either. It gets old!

OK - here's what I want to know. Do you think that Chef just randomly guessed Pennsylvania? That would be outstanding if he really remembered, but I just don't see how that's possible.

I don't understand it, either, but I can't think of many ways he would've known. Was it on our ADR? I don't think so, but maybe. Maybe we said it at some point, and he overheard us. Don't think he did, though, but that's possible.

A fun set of updates, as always! I have only seen the hidden Mickey on the golf ball in Soarin' so thanks for the tip to also look in the balloon scene. :thumbsup2. I love that ride!!

The guy next to the golf cart at the beginning of the Pebble Beach scene is holding Mickey balloons, too :)

I do hope you know I was giving you a hard time. I know how difficult it is to keep up with one's own report plus all the others.

;)

Thanks! He's great when he's asleep!

What a sweet picture of Dylan, just the thing to show his dates to embarrass him.

We got a professional picture of him at Easter when he was a baby, and in one of the shots, he was in a bunny costume, sitting in a flower pot. If I can find it scanned (or scan it myself), I'll post it.

Thanks! It's fun writing it :)

Unacceptable! These kids need to toughen up!

But a break they'll get, in a few minutes...

In this update, we will attempt to make slip past you a lack of an actual story by distracting you with...

PICTURES!!

94 of them, to be exact. 96, if you count the two in the previous post. That's only 10 fewer pictures than we took TOTAL in 2007. 7 more than we took on our first trip in 2006. Of course, that's also assuming I don't decide to delete any between now and the time I'm done with this update. Anyway, here we go!

Whoa, slow down! We're not there yet! In fact, we're still in bed!

Mickey, Stitch, can you two remedy that? *Ring* *Ring*. Problem solved. Thanks, guys!

We're up and at the pool in time for opening at 10:00.

IMG_5210.jpg

IMG_5211.jpg

The opening ceremony involves kids sitting on the steps while some "god" at the top of the pyramid gets the waterfall rockin' and the kids get all wet. Better wipe the water of the lens, first...

So how does it work? It's simple! Print out this post, cut out the pics, then flip 'em. It's really that easy:

Ready? Great! Wasn't that cool? Anyway, the pool's open now, and we're in it. And down the slide.

A lot. In spite of the lifevest, Emily wants me to catch her. We really think she's ready to be swimming on her own, so the lifevest might not last.

So what should we do next? Hey, how about we go down the slide again?

IMG_5238.jpg

She now knows to keep the hands out. I went down the slide a TON of times, too :) Near the end, my goal was to slide around the water falling down from under the jaguar, and I got quite good at it.

I can't figure out where I took this shot from:

IMG_5236.jpg

Em has now made a friend, a girl named Katie, and Katie seems like she's an alpha like Emily, so it's a fun interaction to watch. They're playing "mermaid school" or something. Emily manages to make friends wherever she goes, where Dylan is more content to play by himself (or with us).

A great day so far, and we're not even in a park! How is this possible?

Getting hungry...I'll eat in the next update. So will some of Pocahontas's woodland friends. See you then!

Based on your review and the fact that your whole family like Teppan Edo, we're going to keep our ADRs in September. Even if they don't eat everything, at least we'll have fun. I can't wait to go shopping in Japan. They have the coolest stuff. Well, at this point, I can't wait for the entire trip. I am more excited than my kids. They have asked me to stop talking about it, as if I going to listen to them.

LOVE the pictures of the pool at the Cornado. I can't wait until we are there again! It looks so beautiful. I see us all going down the slide many times. The first time we were there, DS was 6 and I didn't realize how long the slide was. I thought it was just a little slide. I convinced him to ride it and I couldn't understand why it took so long for him to come out. It was only recently that I figured out the length of the slide. I felt pretty silly about it. :rolleyes1

Great updates as usual.

Totally diggin the Spongebob shirt!!

Eye bee stings!! Oh my that sucks. Kristin is a trooper though. She didn't let it ruin her day.

Nothing a little wine wouldn't fix right? :rotfl:

It is this reason that we will never be able to pull off the "surprise! We're going to Disney World today!" trick. The kids know when we're 200 days out.

Emily spun and flipped the whole way down the first time she rode it. Before she knew to put her hands out to her sides :)

Totally diggin the Spongebob shirt!!

We got it at the Mall of America in Minnesota last year. I LOVE Nickelodeon Universe. Not Disney-level love, but it's great!

Kids, are you getting hungry? Well, too bad, because Mom and I are! Is it cruel that we even ask them?

Originally, the plan was to eat at the Pepper Market today, but we really don't feel like leaving the pool, so we give Siestas a shot. Basic fare you'd expect at a moderately-priced Disney resort pool themed like Mayan ruins. By that, of course I mean burgers, hot dogs, sodas...

Dylan and I get the cheeseburger combos...

IMG_5241.jpg

...Emily gets chicken fingers...

IMG_5243.jpg

...and Kristin got nachos.

IMG_5242.jpg

Nothing extraordinary, by any means, but it really fits the setting and will get us back into the pool as quickly as possible.

Kristin opts out of the girlie drinks and joins me in a Key West Sunset Ale. It's good, and works perfect as a "pool beer".

Where did we get all this? Well, it's funny you should ask! We got it here:

IMG_5244.jpg

Hold on, let me check if I uploaded anything else to PhotoBucket that I can't think of a good caption for. Oh, here we go:

IMG_5246.jpg

Though hardly gourmet, we're really enjoying this meal. Someone is a bit upset that we're holding out on him:

IMG_5247.jpg

This guy wants in, too:

IMG_5249.jpg

He's perched about 10 feet behind Dylan. The boy has eaten enough, by his standards, and we let him head over to the playground. No sooner is he out of his seat than this guy strikes:

IMG_5249.jpg

In literally a blink of an eye, he was on Dylan's tray, swiped a french fry, and was back on that pool chair. Dylan didn't see any of it. We think it's hysterical, but move the food closer to us, in order to keep it away from this guy:

IMG_5249.jpg

Ok, now I'm just getting lazy. This guy's not, though:

IMG_5250.jpg

He finally strikes gold:

IMG_5251.jpg

The family seated at the table next to us hurled him that, and while I know fries are HORRIBLE for wild animals, as are most processed human foods. Kristin and I each have great arguments against being environmentally conscious in this case:

Me: They're pretty horrible for us, too.

Kristin: Look how much he loves it.

Try to argue those points. I challenge you. You can't, because they just make too much sense.

The other family leaves, and the squirrel takes off when it becomes obvious that we aren't nearly as generous as that other family is. Outta here, guy. Emily sees Katie at another table, and we have to tell her again why it's rude to bother people when they're eating. Apparently, she doesn't care, and neither does Katie, who waves for Emily to come over.

After their brief conversation, we head over to play some beach volleyball, just our family. It becomes obvious pretty quickly that the only one in our family who is any good at volleyball doesn't really exists, because we're pretty darned awful. We try, though, but getting more than one hit in a row is as futile as reading feyerm's very first PTR and trying to not enjoy it.

Back to the pool, which, if you've forgotten, looks like this:

IMG_5255.jpg

We swim for a while, and I decide that it's definitely time for me to spray on some more sunscreen. We've been lucky so far this week, and I don't want to get burned today. I burn more quickly than the others, so I'm the only one who hoses down.

Back in the pool now, and Katie had to leave. No matter - Emily has a new friend, Sophie. Sophie's dad sees my tattoo and asks if we're from Minnesota. Nope, but we're still Vikings fans. Viking talk is something I'm always up for, and it's fun talking to an actual hometown fan. Em and Sophie go down the slide about 15 times...hey, look! Katie's back! It's Emily-friend-o-rama, while Dylan continues to do his own thing. And he doesn't mind. I don't think he really gets lonely, which is kind of reminiscient of me at that age. Stop it, Dyl - you're scaring me!

The Jesus plane flies overhead, and Dylan just won't believe me when I tell him that the "LOVE GO" skywriting is going to eventually spell "LOVE GOATS". He's just not buying it. One thing is apparent, though - someone has A LOT of money to be spending on airplane fuel. And whatever that smoke letter stuff is. No recession victims there, no sir.

Around 3:00, we've finally had enough. Unlike feyerm's very first PTR, our swimming day has come to an end, and it's time to get ready to head to Downtown Disney.

The walk back to the Casitas is a fair amount longer than it was back to the Cabanas, but we can take the opportunity to grab some shots of the resort:

IMG_5256.jpg

IMG_5257.jpg

IMG_5258.jpg

Hey, I just noticed that those three almost make up a panoramic scene! That was unintentional, honest! There's a turtle in this picture somewhere, and I challenge you to find him. Because I can't. He was there a second before that, though, and should be by the bottom.

IMG_5259.jpg

Maybe he swam under something. Oh well, more pics:

IMG_5273.jpg

I know I've said it many times before, but it bears repeating: I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE this resort. As does the family. I would put the odds of being back here next year somewhere between 100 and 100% at this point.

We grab beers at Rix's, a Blue Moon for Kristin and a Dos Equis for me. Dangit, Kristin, can't you just follow the theme? Mexican beer!

Back to the room, with some final pics taken on the way:

IMG_5274.jpg

IMG_5275.jpg

And here's our building. We were right there on the corner, first floor:

IMG_5277.jpg

We shower and get dressed, noticing that we probably should've used for sunscreen while we are the pool. And that's an understatement. Dylan and I are rockin' the red shoulders and backs. Emily came out of it in the best shape, though the sides of her shoulders did get a little red. Kristin got it the worst, and I feel for her - I HATE sunburn. Even more than poison ivy. And that's saying something. This is why I'm usually neurotic when it comes to avoiding the two. She's going to be in pain later.

Lotion applied, dry clothes on, and it's out the door. Downtown Disney's the destination, in our next update!

Great updates and great pictures.
I didn't think I would like CS when the TA booked it for me and my DS & DD (it was a last minute trip in Dec a few years back).
I didn't think I would like the Southwest theming.
It was decorated at Christmas and was beautiful!
In fact when my DH went with us on Spring Break one year, I chose CS so he could see how beautiful it is.
We are going to try CBR when we go in June '12. That is the only moderate we haven't tried.
Waiting to read morepopcorn::

Fantastic pictures of the resort! It's so beautiful and really is a destination all by itself. Sounds like you had a great pool day, except for the sunburn. I hope it doesn't get too bad. Looking forward to hearing about Downtown Disney.

More fantastic pics!! LOVE IT!! I have noticed that my pic numbers are getting less and less not more and more! I guess I figure I can just pull an old picture out if I need something (who would notice LOL)!!!!

Glad you guys had such a great day at the pool!! That is awesome about the opening ceremony...how cool!!!!
