Good morning!

Did kill the thread yesterday? LOL!

Mari -I hope you are having a great time! Check in when you can.

RF - How is your SIL doing?

What's up for the weekend Mayers???

Sea

You are so NOT a thread killer. My son is taking the ACT tomorrow and then going on a mission trip to Memphis. They are going to work with a church in the area where Michael Orr (Blindside) is from.

My dd has been in a dance camp that is 8 to 5 every day this week. So I am going to go see her dance in a little bit.

Hey Mayers. Happy Friday :goodvibes

Thanks for the prayers everyone. She is hanging in there. They did a 2nd surgery yesterday and they think they got everything. It turned out that it was a flesh eating bacteria. :scared1: They have to do one more surgery tomorrow to see if anything spread and then they will be waking her up. So, I may need some continued prayers so she can make it through tomorrow's surgery. It's going to be a really difficult recovery and she probably will not be returning to work any time soon. But, I think she'll be fine.

Wow! I hope they got is all. That is so bizarre. I have heard of that before. I wonder where these bacteria come from. That is so scary. Keep us posted!

Hi MAYers- Just checking in after a busy week before the busy weekend begins. :faint: It's been a looooong week here. We're heading to Hersheypark tomorrow. The kids are SO excited. I'm hoping it's not too crowded. We usually go in May before the crowds.

RF- Praying for your SIL's recovery. Poor thing.

Sea- Can't wait to see pics with your new camera! Congrats!

Hope Mari is having a wonderful time at Disney!!!!

Have a great weekend everyone! I'm off to Target to get some sunblock for Hershey tomorrow. Perhaps some shirts and shorts for me for the summer might also find their way into my cart. :rolleyes1

Good morning Mayers!

Kim - Have a great time at Hersheypark! Eat some chocolate for me. :D Looking forward to your trip report.

NC - I hope your son has a great experience on his mission trip. Is he helping to clean up due to the recent floods?

Hope everyone else has a great weekend. Off to play with my new camera.

Sea :cool1:

I am not really sure what they are working on in Memphis, except that it is inner city mission work. He was to bring work gloves and old clothes that we wouldn't mind if they were ruined. A lot of times they will work at the public school to repair the playground and repaint things or at a church to do the same kind of work. It will be interesting to hear when he gets home.

There is a very sad situation here in Arkansas currently. There was a flood at a camping area called Albert Pike. While I have never camped there, I have picniced there. It is an absolutely beautiful place. At least 18 people have lost their lives, with two dozen still missing. So sad. The families involved in this truly need prayers.

Morning everyone.

NC- so sad to hear about the familes in AK, of course we will be thinking of them.
I hope Chris has a great time helping out. What a wonderful thing.

RF- I hope the follow up surgery went well for your SIL.

Mari- I bet you are having just the best time ever...a very special trip for you and Marissa. Well deserved for you, our very hard working student.

Kim- How was Hershey?

Hi Shelly! Is school finished for you now?

Sea- How's the camera.... I just got a new one too, and need to get out playing with it as well. It's a Nikon Coolpix L110.

Hi Jodi... Hope you are recooperating well.

Good Morning Everyone!!!!!!

Jason and I spent a few hours in trip planning mode yesterday.
It's so much fun to be able to say after 3 long years...I'm going back.... and actually starting to see the ticker move.

Right now in the trip plans we are trying to figure out what to do on our last day before coming home. We disembark the ship at 7:30 in the morning and are back at Orlando Airport by 10 am, however our flight isn't until 9 am the following morning.
We are thinking of finding a hotel with a great pool to keep the kids busy, but not necessarily on property. More than likely closer to the airport since we would need to be there early.

Has anyone stayed anywhere beside WDW, that I could look into. Something fun, that would keep the kids occupied and keep the vacation fun alive. We do not plan to go back to the parks this day, but was thinking we could take a cab over to DTD if we wanted to have dinner and to pick up some fun things to remember our trip by, maybe even finish spending what ever is left on the gift cards I plan to get us all for christmas.

Off to volunteer in Em's classroom this morning. I am finishing putting together the kids portfolios of art work, that they will each get to take home on their last day. They are so cute.

Good Morning MAYers!

Lake - It sounds like you have had fun planning. I really do not know of another hotel. :confused3 I think I have friends that have stayded at the Nickolodian Hotel but it is near DTD I think. Not sure how the pool is there. I am sure there are some fabulous hotels in Orlando. I only know about the WDW ones.

RF - Hope your SIL is doing well.

Mari - Hope your trip is awesome!!!!

Kim - How was your weekend?

Shelly - What did you guys do this weekend?

Sea - Can't wait to see new photos with the new camera!

Well we had a quiet weekend here. Chris took the ACT, then we got him off to Memphis.

Chloe slept in. She was exhausted from ballet camp.

Sunday we went out to lunch, then Chloe and I went to the pool.

The heat index is supposed to be over 100 degrees today. :scared:

Have a great day!!! :goodvibes

Good morning Mayers!

Well, I was hoping that my new slide show would be uploaded by now, but alas, it isn't. Maybe later on today I will be able to put the link.

Had a very fun and surprising weekend!

Opening weekend of World of Color, DCA's new water show. We got down to DLR around 2:30 and heard the announcement of a third show added as we were entering the park. Got over to the Grizzly River Run fastpass area and got our tickets for the 11:15 pm show! We weren't expecting to see the show at all - in fact, we planned to do a dinner/show and could only get reservations for next Sunday, the 20th.

Since Disney is promoting the show on TV commercials out here, the show is very popular item and they are using the FP system to make sure everything is done orderly and safely. I am so glad they added an extra show!

After we got our tickets, Jeremy and my wife want to go to DL to ride some stuff together. Chris and I met up with some friends to test out my new camera. Well, I should have gone to DL! As they walk out of DCA, look who they bump into...

John Lasseter!!! They said he was very gracious and spoke to them briefly. Lucky ducks! They were were so excited - they were breathless when they called to tell me about it! :cool1:

Well, I took quite a few pictures with the camera and got some amazing stuff with it. I know I still need to read more of the manual to really push the camera to it's limits. I am very happy with the HD video quality. The playback on my TV was very sharp and clear. To me, that was worth the purchase of the camera.

Jeremy called me later and said he saw Joan Cussak - the voice of Jessie in TS. A lot of Disney/Pixar celebrities are in town because of the WOC premier.

The only down side with the camera is battery life - fortunately I have two back ups because my old camera uses the same battery. :cool1: I was able to charge up the battery at the photo store on Main St. and rest for a while before going back to DCA to see WOC.

DCA also has a new event in the Hollywood section called "Glow Fest". Basically, it is a dance party on the street playing rave and techno music with a DJ and dancers. It is kind of funny hearing a Mylie Cyrus song in techno. But the Pogo-Pixar mash-ups are awesome! Overall, it worked - lots of Disney suits were watching it carefully since they had never done it before. I will post pictures and some video of that later.

Well now it was time for WOC! They had us line up an hour before the show. Very well organize and the CM's were very helpful. The previous show's crowd exited in about 15 minutes and they had us move in as they cleared out. What could be a logistic nightmare, turned out to be very smooth - all considering that there is a lot of construction going on in that area.

And then show starts...

Simply put, the show is AMAZING and AWESOME. The technology and the art created with this technology is beautifully executed. It is something you can't just see once and then move on. The colors are intensely bright and beautiful -unlike anything I have seen before. In many ways, you think you are dreaming, because, you can't believe that they are doing what they are doing. The fountains look like they are pouring out light. The music surrounds you and fits perfectly with the movement of the fountains and scenes. And then there are lasers and fire too! Simply put, you have to see this. It is a fantastic experience for any Disney fan.

We were standing near the bridge of Paradise Pier and it was a good position and could see everything. Some friends of ours were center position near the front and got pretty wet.

I give the show FIVE STARS! :cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1:

I can't wait to see it next weekend again! :cool1:

That's all for now...got to go to an appointment....Sea:cool1:

Hello MAYers!

Great TR & pics Sea!:goodvibes

Hey Mayers. Happy Friday :goodvibes

I heard about the campground flooding on the news. That's terrible. Definitely praying for those people
.

Hi Shelly! Is school finished for you now?

Yep, we finished up Friday!

We've never stayed anywhere off-site down there. But I have always thought the Nickelodeon hotel looks cool and the Gaylord Palms resort looks nice.

Shelly - What did you guys do this weekend?

We had DS8's soccer tournament yesterday. It ended up to be an all day event - because his team won the whole thing!! :cheer2: We were there from about 12:45 until about 6:00, in the rain, wind, sun, and HEAT. :faint: What a day. The weather was just crazy. But no thunder or lightning, so we played on!

I will send you guys some pictures from yesterday in PM's. The soccer shirts & trophies have too much personal info for me to post on the thread.

BUMPING INTO JOHN LASSETER...IS SO COOL!!!!!! :thumbsup2
How exciting for your family. That man is a creative genius.

Thanks Shelly & Lake!

Yes, I think JL is our "Walt" for our generation. I think he is really trying hard to keep on the Disney tradition. I am so glad he heads up Disney Imagineering and he really cares for the parks worldwide and what will go into them. I suspect, if WOC is just a taste of what he has done, we are going to be blown away by Carsland at DCA and the new Fantasyland in WDW As we like to say, "He gets it!"
