Jo - I have a tiny bit of insight as to why all the excitement to see Tebow from non-Florida fans. This is the Bible Belt you know. Well, Tim Tebow is held up as a shining example all over the South. Just this past Sunday, the head Sunday School guy who does the opening devotion talked about him to the 6th graders. Those kids were hanging on every word. So, I think lots of parents, grandparents, etc. point out to their kids that Tebow walks the walk and doesn't just talk the talk. I think a lot of adult Christians look up to him as well. So not only to Florida fans back him, but he has the body of Christ behind him, at least in the South.

And in the famous words or Trixie...

How are the girls today Trix?

I thought DD7 was getting over it, but then yesterday afternoon her fever spiked again! It seems to be more under control now, but she's still home (day 4 home from school) coughing and feeling yucky.

DD10 has a fever and headache. She slept most of the day yesterday and is sleeping again now. She was really ticked off this morning because she was "drenched in sweat" during the night. This is the third day she has missed.

The Halloween party is still up in the air.

What kind are you using? NOTHING seems to work for DD7.

Just Walmart's generic Equate Children's Cold & Cough DM Elixir. You know - "compare to Dimetap DM" Same ingredients, half the price. It's one of the only cough medicines that the kids can stomach. It always quiets their coughs. So at least they can get some sleep and then hopefully get over what they have faster. Normally anyway. Not sure why this cough has lasted a week and a half.

I just read that someone was just at POR and the pool slide was closed and no one told them ahead of time. The manager told them that they didn't have to tell them at check in because they are allowed to use POFQ's pool.

Well DS10 wasn't that into POFQ's slide when he was 8, so I'm sure he'll have no interest in it now. (Plus that's quite a walk to use a pool)If the slide is down at POR I want to know now so we can switch to another hotel!!! I'm sure I'll never get a straight answer if I call Disney. . . And they apparently don't have to post it anywhere since they are connected to POFQ.

NC- I totally get that people from age 2 to 100 admire his Christian walk. He is truly unashamed of his Christianity and lives for Christ. I respect that. I think that children should look up to him and try to emulate his passion for Christ. It's actually pretty sad that there are no other Christian men out there for our boys to want to be like.

What I don't understand or respect is the attitude of a lot of fans of other colleges that get irritated when we Gator fans go to see our team- not just Tebow-- to back them as a unit and we can't even get close enough to do so. We are not there only to see him- we are there to give support to the team all together. It's like they've made it into the one man Tebow show, and it's totally unfair to all the other players on the team.

We even heard one Miss state fan say "Why are all the Gator fans even here- they see Tebow all the time, we never get to see him in person."

ANd then of course, you have the fans who like to see him, to say that they've seen him in person, and in the next breath say that they hate him and all the attention he gets from the media.



I think admiring him for his Christianity and respecting him from afar is one thing. And as for children-- there definitely is NO other person I'd want my kids to emulate and look up to. So I understand parents wanting to give their kids positive role models.

But a grown man or woman Clamoring to see him, get his autograph, get a picture made with him and then say they hate the Gators is a horse of a different color all together.
And more often than not- we've found that the ones saying they hate us the most are the ones itching to get close to him.

I've had the opportunity to get autographs from different players from other teams thru the years. While I may respect them as players- I'd never desire to get a picture, autograph, etc with them. I guess it's just me.

Heck- Matt Jones lives in my neighborhood. I've never had any desire to even talk to him , even though he comes to my next door neighbor's house constantly.
Of course, he isn't exactly a positve role model.

trixie- did you ever take your DD into the dr? If not- I think you might need to.

They can probably give you something stronger for the cough.


When I had it and didn't go to the dr, my fever would hover from 99-101.7.
Belle- after she took her Tamiflu the first dose- 24 hrs later and the fever was gone.

We use Delsym and Robitussin. My medicine cabinet looks like a small pharmacy.

Just the slide I guess. Yes, I would absolutely switch resorts. The pool slide is one of the things DS10 looks forward to most. I'm not sure what I'd do if CBR wasn't available. . . not really interested in the other two. . .

Just checked. . . CBR has plenty of rooms available. . . not sure how they would handle a switch with free dining though. . . they usually only allot so many rooms for that. . . UGH!!! Well, hopefully this will not be the case and the pool slide will be open by then. We were really looking forward to trying POR.

For us - Motrin seems to be working at bringing Ethan's temperature down.
We haven't been to the doctor, but as far as I know MD's here do not prescribe Tamiflu.

His temp is down to 98 now... so I am hopeful.

Joe Johnson from the Atlanta Hawks has a house in our neighborhood. His mom lives here full time. You can always tell when he is in town though, because his entourage is parked all around the house.

It has NEVER crossed my mind to ask him for an autograph. I do know occasionally that he signs balls for charity events as well as an anual neighborhood party we have.

I guess I am just not that starstruck.

Now Mickey Mouse, Goofy.... I am all about it!!!

I booked mine from a PIN I got, which I am sure is over. But then free dining opened up to either the public or Disney Visa holders later, so I would have qualified, but not sure when the booking window ends/ended for that. . .

Seems like the issue this woman had when she went to talk to the manager a few days into her vacation when she realized (a lifeguard told her)that the pool slide was going to be closed the entire week, was that since POR/POFQ are "sister"resorts they do not need to make it public knowledge when one of their slides are down for maintenance, like CBR or CSR would.

So I'm just not sure there is any way to find out for sure before we leave. . .

IDK- while I think it's neat to see celebrities in person- (well, some of them. A lot of times I have no idea who they are until one of the kids tells me)--I always feel sorry for them b/c you know they just want to be left alone.

Seeing Tebow this weekend and the insanity surrounding him- it sort of made me sad for him and the demands placed on him.

Okay--- off to cook something in the crock pot for supper.

We gave away our dog this weekend.

I think we may have to do that with one of our cats. He's really taken to peeing all over everything and nothing I do seems to stop him. We are at out wits end.

Chris was a strong willed toddler, so why oh why am I not surprised that the strong will has shown up again.

Yikes! Eliska is a strong willed toddler too. I just know that the teenage years are going to be very tough. I've already told Jeremiah that the teenage years are going to be the years that he's the favorite not me!

Jo -- great trip report. I have to admit, though, that I know next to nothing about college football. I used to be into it a little when I was at college. I remember going to a tailgate party at the LA Coliseum and having a blast at the USC/UCLA game. College games can definitely be a lot of fun.

So explain to me this Teebow phenomena. Who exactly is he? Your posts make it seem like he's some kind of demi-god of football. (Not that you think that, but that others do )

Crisis averted! POR pool slide rehab dates are Oct 19-Nov 7!! Hopefully they will stay on schedule and open up just in time for us!
