She's marking down ART??? It's ART for crap's sake!!! It's subjective!!!

How many spelling words were there? 5? 10? 20? Was there more than one point available per word? But the whole point of spelling is SPELLING, not spacing or penmanship.

Seriously, I've gotten a horrible teacher fired. What's the school's number?

No, wait! I could probably be there before she leaves for the day! :lmao:

Yes you probably could be here before school is out. :rotfl:
I'm not getting her fired...

She's leaving on maternity leave in december... 2 months is all I need to do. Remember we get 12 months of maternity leave here, not 12 weeks. So I'm going to wait it out.

btw... there were 20 words on the test. A mark per word.

Well I guess you can't blame her pregnancy hormones if she was that type of teacher before getting pregnant. Hope the next couple months fly by and the replacement teacher is a little more fair with grading.

I wish we were given 12 months maternity. Nice!

Those type of teachers drive me BONKERS.

It was a spelling test, not a penmanship test. IT IS NOT A SUBJECTIVE TEST. If you spell it right, it's right.

I would march my BEHIND up to that principal's office and let them know that what she is doing is not right for their psyche or their self esteem.

She is totally wrong- and needs to be called out for it.

:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

Belle's teacher last year was super picky about things. I never went off on her but I wanted to a couple of times. One of the first assignments was to draw a forest.

Well-- Belle is super artistic- she always has been- and she always puts her own spin on things- (For example- her first name has an 'A' as the last letter, and since the time she learned to write it, she has always drawn it upside down with a tail:confused3:rotfl:) So anyway- she drew her forest with a pink tree in it, surrounded by green trees. And her teacher took points away b/c she said that there's no such thing as a pink tree.

I was livid- called my MIL who was a first grade teacher for 16 years- and now works for the state teaching teachers how to teach students to read---and she said that was absolutely wrong to take off points b/c it was artistic self expression.

Anyway- jsut thought I'd let lose on a tirade to let you know that is wrong for that teacher to do that. I'd definitely call and request a mtg.

Just saw that she is leaving on maternity leave.

Good.

And I hope when her little bundle of joy pukes on her, she tries to take off points b/c it wasn't "projectile" far enough.

Good grief. People drive me nuts.

J~

He's at the top of the class so I am not sure I should complain... rock the boat... have her mad at me..and reflect on him...sort of thing. I'm going to see how the next few weeks goes.

The other Grade 2 teacher apparently marks easy. So I actually don't want him in that class, as he wouldn't be challenged.

All is ok for now. As I said, it's actually making him work harder and taking his time rather than rushing through. An area he needed to work on anyways. And Ethan my lovely boy...actually hates art. Does not enjoy colouring or cutting... would rather do a book load of math questions... so the C.. I kind of laughed about.

I love him... but the art work..it wasn't great.:lmao:

Okay...that gave me a great laugh.
Is that medication is making you evil!!!!!! Not our sweet JO.

okay so enough about that....

We finally have a costume for halloween. Ethan chose to go as batman.
I'm happy, he's happy, and even better he can put it on all by himself to wear for the parade at school on the 30th. The kids are super excited, as the didn't get to dress up at the old school. Emmy will be a cute little purple butterfly.

:goodvibes

I have no tolerance for innane stupidity.

The medication just brings to the surface what I do a REALLY good job of hiding 99% of the time.

I'm mean. I'm nasty. I'm evil.

I think that's why Mark married me.
:rotfl2:

Batman!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Da-na-na-na-na-na-na da-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na BATMAN!!!!!!!!

POW!!!!!!!!!!!

BIP!

BAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good choice!

:)

As a teacher, you can't be subjective and add your own policy to derail the in place grading policy set by the school and district. She diluting the integrity of the grading system by adding in her own personal whims. She is wrong and she knows this. What an psychopath!

He has just started to watch the old old episodes of Superfriends that is on tv at night. Jason loves it because it's the same one's he used to watch when he was a kid. So Jason and Eth watch it together now.

Originally he thought that a Robin costume would be cool... but lets be honest Batman is so much easier and cheaper to find as a costume...:rotfl:

I kind of wanted him to be Dash from the incredibles, but he looks really cute in this one.

I used to teach in the public schools before my babies were born and grading is not subjective. Criteria is set by the state, county or whatever the higher ups are in your area. I get very peeved when I see teachers take advantage of being in an authoritative position. It was a spelling test, not a penmanship test. Unless the rubric specifically states that points will be taken off for poor penmanship, his grade is wrong.

And who says there are no such things as pink trees???? I have one that flowers pink every spring.

He's at the top of the class so I am not sure I should complain... rock the boat... have her mad at me..and reflect on him...sort of thing. I'm going to see how the next few weeks goes.

I definitely see where you are coming from. You don't want to have her take any of it out on DS. But perhaps she's never had a parent rock the boat and that may just be what she needs.

Enough on that topic- it fires me up!
On a happy note, my kids are going to be Nemo and a Jedi for Halloween! :goodvibes

I need some MAYer brain power...

DH decided that we're going to have a Halloween COSTUME party at our house the day before Halloween. (You're all invited.) Last year, DH was a pirate, inspired by the good Captain. I'm showing you a pic of him (GASP!), only because you wouldn't recognize him in real life based on this picture. He brought DDs to school that morning and not one parent realized who he was when the girls weren't with him!

Anyway...his costume is good! His mom made the shirt and the jacket and it's really good quality. But I have NO costume!!! And I have to have one!

What on earth should I be??? My MIL said she could sew for me if I needed her to. Any ideas? The only thing I'm thinking about is Professor Umbridge from Harry Potter. But I'm afraid that no one will know who I am! :headache: This is what I'd be shooting for.

umbridge.jpg

But I'm totally open to suggestions!!! Help!!!

Next year I want the kids to go as Alice and the Mad Hatter.
or Dorothy and the Tin man. (I love theme costumes... two years ago they were tinkerbell and peter pan).

Trixie... there are some great Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz costumes for adults out there. And it may not be too difficult to make it.

I'm thinking of dressing up as her, and giving the treats out of Toto's basket.

www.buycostumes.com.... we have ordered from them before... but you may find some ideas there.
