Congratulations Ethan and Emily!!!! That is so cool! I am very happy for you - you should be proud - keep up the good work and keep encouraging your kids to do their best. The will soar! :cool1:

Hi everyone. I just need a moment to gush about my children for a second.

I just returned from the kids school, where our son
Ethan was awarded the literacy award.

Ethan along with the rest of the school was given their provincial literacy testing last week, and Ethan did a fantastic job and was in the 100 percentile for Grade 2 students across the province. He scored the highest score possible, and even surpassed most children in Grade's 3 and 4 as well.
We are so pleased, excited and proud.
They are looking at placing him in an advanced class next year.

Emily is also soaring...though in kindergarten they do not do the provincial tests yet. But we have two very good readers who love school.
We have always told them if you can read well, then you can do or be anything you want. Afterall, if you can read about it in a book or online, then you can teach yourself anything!

I'm such a proud mommy.

Congratulations to your DS11!!! :cool1: That is so cool that the principal took the time to honor his achievements of this past year. Keep up the good work Shelly!

Hi MAYers! :cool1:
We are having quite a toasty day here too. It's probably near 90. :faint:

I sat through a 1 1/2 hour long Awards Ceremony at DS11's school this morning in the steaming hot gym. Of course his award was last! But it was all worth it to hear the principal read all the great things his teacher had to say about him and why he was chosen for the award. I'm so proud! :goodvibes

Yesterday was his field trip. Tomorrow is his field day. It's been a crazy week.

Congrats to Ethan Lake! :cheer2:

Not long now Mari! :yay:

Everything looks so great Kim. Thanks for sharing your pics!

Hello to everyone else!

Hey all..

Sea - I don't remember you mentioning that you won something.... but CONGRATS.... i can't wait to see your pics.....

NC - YAY on the code...

I got a postcard from WDW yesterday for a room discount yesterday too! I gave it to my wife and we couldn't find it this morning to look it over more carefully.

When I get back home tonight, I will have to find it and figure it out.

Now my wife is talking about doing the dining plan, since she heard about it on TV.

NC - We might need to compare notes...Sea

Hi Everyone!!!!!

Congratulations to all the MAYer all-stars we have!

I am totally freaking out! I just got a PIN!!!! I have never got a PIN before!

I have no idea what I should book. I am so thinking AKL with two queen beds.

Any thoughts?

(FYI - if I can book a standard room at AKL it would cost less than a moderate. Freaky!)

I'm sitting here still trying to decide betweenj Coral reed and Le Cellier.... On this trip i'm actually going to go to see some resorts.... see where we will go next time..... I wish i could get a code....

Sea - i hope you can find it.... Leah has a great mind thinking about doing the DP... i love just for the fact that everything is prepaid....

Thanks ladies! Yes, cameras are allowed. I will be definitely taking photos and video to share with you all.

I had no idea that you won something either. I am so sorry. Will you take photos and tell us all about it? Are photos allowed?

I would go for the Coral Reef - reminds me of the Oceanarium restuarant in Oahu. Oh, they have divers that can dive down to your seating area and they can put up a message on a board, leaned up on the window. That would be cool to do for Marissa.

Yea, I think it got put into our vacation file already. We briefly talked about doing just the counter service plan...someone told me that free dining is coming up this August again. So...maybe we will get lucky here.

You guys going to WDW.... the free dining is offered already..... check it out... for value/mod resorts you get QS dining for Deluxe you get the regular DDP .... i think.... check it out.... it's offered for mid aug til oct....

Thanks Everyone for the congrats!

and while we're on the subject.....

Congratulations SEA! Very Cool.

Mari - if it was me. Even though you all say the food at Le Cellier is terrific. ( YES..it's true your resident Canadians have never eaten at the Canada Pavillion) ....I think I would do Coral Reef. The Aquariums will entertain her, and she will probably remember it more. I guess that's just me...I'm more into moments and memories than food! Unless we're talking Dole Whips!!!:rotfl:

Wow...my ticker may actually be moving!:yay:

A bit of a change of topic... I know most of you are creeping up to your last days of school.

I was wondering what everyone plans to buy their teachers for their end of school gifts. I don't like being repetitive...so I'm looking for new ideas.

Sea- what does Lena like to receive?????

I have a whole month yet to decide, our kids don't get out until June 29th.
Just in time to load the car to be at the Cottage for Canada Day.

Good Morning!

We had a fantastic thunder storm last night.
The power was out for hours.

My parents are coming for a visit today, and bringing my 88 year old grandmother too. It will be the first time she visits us at the new house.
I'm looking forward to spending time with her.

Hope everyone has a great day, and a wonderful weekend.

JO - if you are out there. I hope all is well, and that you are feeling better.

Morning all!!!!!!!!!!

Lake - It's crazy how we live so FAR apart and still end up with the same weather.. we had thunderstorms last night as well.... it helped because it cooled us down but thank god we didn't lose power. Hmmmm.... i dont know what to get for teachers. this is the first year Marissa is in school. But when i was younger my mother really didn't get them anything because she did get them something nice for xmas.

Jo - Hope you are feeling a lil better. Haven't heard from you in a while. But we all know the doc said to stay away from the computer. We miss ya and hope you are feeling better.....

Our thunderstorms aren't coming until later today. I'm just hoping it holds off until after Field Day is over! I am headed to the school pretty soon for that.

It is much cooler this morning. I was able to turn off the air and open the windows!

Lake - I don't think we have ever done end of the year gifts for the teachers. We always get them something nice for Christmas. I know I probably say this every year - but I still can't believe your kids go to school clear through June!!

Mari - did you decide? LeCellier or Coral Reef??? popcorn::

I am not doing an end of school gift this year. Chris has 12 teachers/coaches this year. Chloe has 10. Plus we like to give gifts to the office staff.

At Christmas this year I gave Sonic gift cards to all the teachers. Last year, I gave Starbucks cards at Christmas.

The teachers at our school really appreciate cash, because they can spend it on anything. My son's 5th grade teacher used money she received as end of school gifts to help pay for space camp for teachers.

When the children were small, I would have them write a Thank You letter or draw a picture for their teacher and include it with their gift. I usually go with gift cards to a favorite store/restaurant or cash. Also, if I had taken a photo with my child and their teacher, I would include that. We usually would glue it on the letter/drawing.

I do think one year, I sent a beach towel in a cute beach bag. Both teachers were members at the same pool we go to, so I knew they would use those.
