There's something wrong with me

2 years ago, DH and I were on a cruise to the Baltics, and the highlight for us was to be the stop in Poland, the land of our ancestors. The two weeks leading up to the cruise were just not filled with the same excitement that any of our upcoming trips to WDW generate.

Maybe it was more the "unknown." I didn't know much about the history of the Scandanavian countries, never really wanted to see St. Peterburg (and I did know about Russian History) , or Estonia. However, that trip was wonderful! I did buy some internet time, and even checked the Disboards from the Emerald Princess:goodvibes...but it was one of the best trips DH and I have ever been on.

Have fun!

BTW, make sure you keep your stuff protected in a body wallet or something. Rome is awesome but notorious for pickpockets. Don't let them ruin your trip by making you a victim.

I can relate. We are going to Beaches, Turks and Caicos in 3 weeks, and to Disney for 2 weeks in May. I am only excited about our Disney trip, even though I know that Turks and Caicos will be fabulous.

:) I enjoyed Florence and definitely be careful of children running up to you and pick pockets, keep info inside your shirts. Pompeii is fantastic and the journey there is fun, too. The artwork is amazing and a memory you will have for a lifetime. Be very fearful of the Roman Cab Driver--he will scare the hell out you :scared1:--Thunder Moutain Railroad without a lap belt.

I can totally relate. We are planning a two week trip to the northwest this summer and I find myself thinking that going to Disney is just so much easier to plan. Also, I cannot seem to find any resort hotels that will meet our needs....

Ya, I did one of those tours before, not a school group but a 15 day whirlwind tour. Not the best way to see Europe, but it gives you a nice sampling. Early in my career, I got the opportunity to go to Naples for a week and do some work on the NATO base. Well, I had a free day so I took a USO tour to Pompeii and climbed Mt. Vesuvius. The ruins of Pompeii make the Roman ruins look like nothing. I mean Pompeii is a completely preserved city, and when I was there (1997) they said only about a third of it had been excavated.

Loved Pompeii. :thumbsup2

I am so with you! We have plans to do a 2 week trip to CA in April of 2012. We have never been to DL before so we are planning to spend 6 days there. We have plans to drive up the coast to San Fran for the first week but I am soooo Disney spoiled that I am having second thoughts. I want to spend the WHOLE 2 weeks at DL. I know that we may never get the chance again to get to CA and see part of that state but the comfort of Disney.....ugh!!! I think that is what makes it so hard to travel somewhere else. I am just too spoiled by the Disney Comfort!! I miss my Disney!!

I do hope you have a wonderful trip and I am sure you will enjoy it too.

I am am kind of feeling "out of my comfort zone" planning our first Disney cruise. It is overwhelming....even though it is Disney, it is still unchartered waters... :lmao: .....LITERALLY...... for this Disney World vet. We have never cruised so a newbie I am. ;)

I know that one day we will also go to DL and I will probably feel like you. I know if we go we will want to spend several days at DL but SHOULD also venture out and do all the other stuff.

We went on our first DCL cruise in February and had an awesome time, but the planning was not nearly as fun as planning a WDW trip. For the cruise, there's a lot less to plan because DCL plans almost everything for you. The only thing you have to decide is excursions and if you want a reservation at Palo (or whatever it's called on the Dream).

I may be in the minority but if I could trade next trip to Disney to go back to Europe, hello no ice and cheap wine!!!!!
