Here's a receipe for Tamarind Sauce:
Tamarind Sauce (India)
Servings: 5-6
INGREDIENTS
PREP
Tamarind pulp 2 T
Water 1 c
Salt 2 t
Cumin, ground 1 1/2 t
Brown Sugar 1/2 c
Raisins, golden 1/4 c
Dates 1/4 c
Garam masala (opt.) 1 t
Ginger, dried 1 t
Cayenne pepper 1/4 to 1/2 t
METHOD
1. Soak tamarind in the water for 15 minutes.
2. Strain the tamarind water through a sieve to get out fibers and seeds.
3. Mix tamarind water with rest of ingredients and puree in a blender.
4. Strain again and serve.
