There's A Snake In My Boot!!!! PTR April 24th-May 1, 2010 (Trip Report Started!!)

HI!

Our trips overlap too! We'll be there from 4/25-5/4 and time can't move fast enough. My DH will go insane if I set up another electronic count down clock!

I heard that they are upgrading it to digital 3D. So it will probably be a lot better quality when its done. Which doesn't help those of us who aren't fortunate to go very often! :sad1:

I bet it will look a lot fresher being upgraded to digital! I am sad to miss it, I did want Gabe to see it, but I like all the corny jokes in it too!

Hi Beth! I just got all caught up again, I've been out of comission for a bit but back to see how your plans are going. LOVE the stuff from Michaels - there is one about 20 minutes from me I'll have to make a trip to for goodie bag and easter ideas - thanks for the great ideas!

Your trip is sure getting close, you must be so excited! Your days plans all look so good. Love all of the pictures of the characters - my DS3 is sitting next to me here naming off all of the characters as I was scrolling through! I asked him he he wants to see those characters when we go to Disney and he said a great big NO to all of then except Pooh. He then said he only wants to see Mickey. :sad2: I'm guess we won't have many character pictures with him in! oh well...

Looking forward to counting down the days with you!
Karen

Glad you are back reading Karen!! With Gabe, once we met 1 character that was all he needed, he wanted to find as many as he could! He loved them all, even ones that we weren't too familiar with!! I am sure he will get into the autographs too!!

Hey Beth, I finally made my way through your PTR so far! Looks like we may run into each other...the one that stands out is AK on the 4th although we won't be headed that way until after lunch but I hope to get there in time for the parade and hit a couple attractions before closing.

Looks like you have found some really cute things while shopping! I was so excited yesterday to find some Disney stickers at the drugstore. There were 8 sheets of 13 stickers in a pack and were only a buck! I'm bringing them in my bag and figure if I see a kid who needs a little pixie dust I can give them out. I also stocked up on glow bracelets at the dollar store and can't wait to share those too

HI Katie!! Glad you came on over!! I like your idea about the stickers and glow bracelets! I was planning on bringing some bracelets for my kiddos so they would have something in the evenings at the parks, especially when we would be seeing fireworks!!!
I think I didn't type out my plans too well, we are going to be in AK on Tuesday April 27th, after I typed it I realized it may look like I was typing May 4th...I wish we could stay an extra week and then we could meet up:thumbsup2

OOOH NO! Muppets will be down?? Oh well, I guess we can't see that!! I love your pic of Pooh and DS!! So cute!

We were bummed about Muppets too Keala! Thanks for your comment about the picture, I think it's cute too!!:goodvibes

I hope you are doing well Beth!! Your trip will be here soon!! :cool1:

Yes! I can't believe we are under 50 days!! We had a busy weekend, glad to be back on our "schedule" so I can DIS more!!!

Reading along for the fun to come!

Hi MeMom!!! I have read TR from you and your daughter before! Your granddaughters are adorable!! So glad you are reading along!!
:goodvibes

Hi V Gang!! Glad you are checking in!! Isn't it great to be under 50 days!! What are your plans for your trip? Are you staying on site?? Do any of our days overlap?? Countdown clocks/tickers ROCK!!:woohoo:

Hi all!! Whew, what a weekend, we had a couple big things this weekend and it's kept me off the DISboards!! Grrr....

Anyways, on Saturday my little girl got her new BIG GIRL bed!!:cool1: She did great! Saturday night she only got up once and last night she didn't get up at all!!! YEAH! It was an exciting day for us all! She looks so cute in it, I will take pics today and post them!

Yesterday Cory and I went around looking at some model homes. We have been in our townhouse for almost 6 years and we only have 2 bedrooms and the kiddos share a room so we are looking for something bigger. We probably would have to rent the townhouse out so we have a lot of things to hash out but thought we would just go out and see what's out there!! It's fun to look but exhausting!!!

We have to get ready for preschool and make a Target run but I will update more this afternoon!!! I have to catch up on all the other TR and PTR's that I am reading too, whew!

I can't wait until my daughter is able to move into their house and we can get a big boy bed for Ashton. That is so great about Helen doing such a wonderful job transitioning to her big girl bed.

That sounds like so much fun looking for a new house. I remember how excitied we were when we building this house.

Yay for being back! It has been such a busy time for so many people! I can only imagine how crazy it will be once the weather warms up for most of us and we are outdoor bunches. Yay for a big girl bed! Did you move Helen up to a toddler bed? We rent our townhouse in Illinois out right now until the market goes back up.

It's exciting and stressful! We may be waiting a while yet but it is lots of fun!!

Same here Stephanie, we play outside all day everyday during the Spring and since it's been raining here all week, the kids are itching to get out there, a lot of snow has melted too so we see GRASS!! (well, yucky brown grass but it's a start!) We bought Helen a twin bed that didn't need a box spring so it sits nice and low to the ground, but we did put Gabe's old bed rail up too. I will post a pic later today if I get them uploaded! How is renting?? Do you manage it yourself or let a company do it? Thanks!

Finally a REAL update! Helen is still doing great in her big girl bed! Here are a couple of pictures:

I ordered by Rewards card from Visa and should get here next week! I also ordered my Disney Gift Card from Sunshine Rewards too! It should get here in a few weeks! Feels good to start crossing a few things off my list!! Hoping my maps will arrive soon too!

Using my friend's Cricut I got the countdown calendar are cut out! I need to just add the numbers and glue it down! It will start at 30 days out and we will cover up the numbers with stickers!! I thought it turned out pretty good! The kids really like it too!! Here's what it looks like so far...

I hope to head over to Target to get a new swimsuit tonight too, so many things I keep forgetting about!! I hope everyone has a great weekend, I know I will have more time to DIS this weekend than last!!:thumbsup2

Love your countdown calendar! It turned out so good! I like the idea of covering up the numbers with stickers....great idea!:thumbsup2

Even though we've already been pulling days off our countdown calendar...I think we may make a our countdown chain this weekend and hang it in the kitchen. The boys love seeing it get smaller...and smaller.;)

The first go around with renting, we did it ourselves. This second time around, we worked through Realtors to help get it rented. It was a great process--they screened all the applicants, ran the credit checks and initial interviews. We decided who we wanted to be the tenants. We rented it out in less than a week--it went really fast so we are happy. The commission is one month's rent but to us, it was worth it. Now, we are active landlords having to ok changes, questions or issues. We do have a few people keeping an eye on it as well as be there if an emergency situation arises.

Adorable pictures of Helen in her big girl bed!! Cute countdown calendar! I need to get cracking on what I am going to do. I am trying to decided between something similar to what you did or if I should do a chain. :confused3

Make a list--that's the only way I survive! ;) :thumbsup2 I hope you find a cute bathing suit!!

Hi Beth-

Congrats on Helen's big-girl bed! That is so exciting! I hope she si sleeping well for you in there and not climbing out. I remember both my kids slept great the first few nights, then discovered how to get out and went through the whole climing-out-100-times-per-night thing. They always look so little in that big bed!

Love the idea of a countdown calendar too - I can't believe you're so close to your trip - you must be SO excited!! Did you find new swimsuits?

Karen

So cute! I love the big girl bed. And the calendar too! I am trying to find someone I know who owns that Disney cartridge so I can make a countdown calendar and for scrapbookin when we get back. I dont own a cricut but there is one at school I can use...may have to break down and buy it myself!

I got (well, actually my MIL got it for me for Christmas) the Cricut for only 65 dollars on black Friday...it's the smaller one but that is a 135 savings! :cool1: Totally worth every penny!

Thanks Angie! It feels so great to have it finished! The kids will like covering up the numbers! 6 weeks for us to go!!! I liked the chain idea too, I went back and forth on deciding, it helped to have the Cricut at my disposal!

I have tons of lists Stephanie, I just need to condense them all!!:rotfl: I went back and forth about the calendar and a chain too, no matter what they both will be a fun way to countdown! Glad to know you liked working with the rental company, the terms sound similar to one a friend of ours uses. I feel that it is less of a risk with a company doing the collecting and the screening. Thanks for your advice!!

Hi Karen! I hope you are doing well and resting:goodvibes She is doing pretty well so far and we have had the bed week now! I am keeping my fingers crossed that she keeps it up!! I am glad to have the calendar done and in about 12 days we can start using it!! I didn't find anything cute at Target in my size, swimsuit shopping is always such a chore and I usually don't find too much fun doing it! I may have to hit up Kohl's next!

Thanks Kayce, my friend gets good deals on them off of Ebay. She has had really good luck buying the cartridges that way!

I used the smaller one and it worked great! It was really fun to use too! It amazes me all the effects it can do!

Yesterday I forgot to post one more pic! We made our "Mousekeeping" envelopes! I wrote on them and the kids decorated them with stickers, they made some for my parents too!! They are stuffed and all ready to go!!!

No luck with swimsuits at Target, I don't know many women who enjoy swimsuit shopping...I know I sure don't!! Happy Saturday!!

Cute envelopes--that is a great idea instead of printing the covers off and using more ink. Hmm... thanks for the idea!!

 swimsuits--no way! I am hoping there are some decent ones when I go looking sometime mid summer.

love your mousekeeping envelopes...that reminds me! I better start on mine!! Can't wait to hear more updates!! We're almost there! woohoo!!

Aww, very cute envelopes! Great job on them. :thumbsup2

Beth great job on the countdown calendar! and the envelopes came out great! I forgot about those (I wanted to do that this year).
I lile your idea of covering up the numbers...we are pulling ours off (to reveal the map of MK) but it has fallen off the wall a few times from Ashton tugging just a hint to hard!

Thanks Stephanie! I did them this way last time too. It was quick and easy and I didn't have to use up ink! I have so many stickers laying around it was great to put them to use!! Still hunting around for a suit too...grrrr...

Thanks Sarah!! The kids liked helping too!
