There's a First Time for Everything! A Christmas In November TR

Wonderful pictures at the MK, the park was so empty. I love Disney landscaping. Why can't my flowers look that?

I can't believe all you were able to do at night. I need to try the Jungle Cruise at night sometime, it did look a little more magical.

Congrats to your DD! That is truly wonderful:goodvibes

The crowd levels during your trips seem even smaller than our two January trips. Someday when I "retire" again or manage to find a job out of the classroom anyways, we'll have to try to visit at that time of year!

Just stumbled on this thread. GREAT PICS! I love it. Will be back to keep up the readng. I did beginning and end so now will have to find time to go back and read the middle. Your daughter is adorable!:goodvibes

Congratulations to your dd, I can tell you were over the moon proud and then some..as you should be!!!!:cutie:
Again your newly posted update and pics are awesome! I just spoke
to a friend who is going to the happy place over easter and her kids don't know!!! What an awesome surprise the easter bunny is bringing them!!!:cloud9:

A big congrats to DD on the :cheer2:award. What a greaat idea for an award. Beautiful pics as always.

I haven't been posting much here lately, but I wanted to come out of the woodwork to say congratulations-to your daughter and to you for raising her so well!:thumbsup2

I am enjoying the flashback pictures. Something about that crystal clear blue Florida sky just draws you in, doesn't it?

When we were there at Christmas, those benches were jam-packed and people were standing all over the porch and down the steps. I think you had much better timing than we did. :)

Congratulations to your DD! What a wonderful thing to have been said about her.
I really don't want this to be the last day of your flashback report!!! Any other reports?!:rolleyes1

Wow! What an awesome award for your daughter to recieve. You should be very proud and want to tell the how world...that's not bragging at all.

Just wondering what you are going to do after the flashbacks are over. I will miss the TR too much! :lovestruc

Thank you!

I have no idea what to do next. Maybe I'll find pictures on the internet and just make something up! :lmao: Just kidding! I hate for it to end too, but I think I've just about strectched it out as long as possible. Another good reason that I need another trip! ;)

Oh congratulations to your DD, what a fantastic award to win and what an awesome trophy :thumbsup2

OMGoodness I can't get over how empty MK was :faint: How wonderful to get so much done after you've had a relaxing swimming day :goodvibes

Oh BTW I have a castle just down the road from me, just saying.......... :rotfl:

Oh that was just DIRTY!! :rotfl: How many people can say they have a castle down the road!? :worship: You're killin' me!!!!! But that's ok. One day I'll get over there and maybe I'll visit YOUR castle!

It was a wonderful day at MK. I was in shock at how empty it was. It was almost creepy.

That is wonderful news about your DD. It is not bragging at all. I would want to share that news, too. You must be so proud

Thank you! I am very proud and still sort of in shock!

I think you just said it all. Proving that you are a good mom for teaching her the right values. Congrats to your family!!!:cheer2:

Thank you. Sometimes I feel like I am just muddling through this whole parenting thing. It's hard sometimes, ya know? I need times like this though to balance out all the times that I feel like the worst mother in the world (like when I forgot to pack her lunch last week for school:rolleyes:)!

Aww, that's so sweet that your DD got that award. It must have made your heart melt to know that other people recognize what a sweet little girl she is!

I was very proud for sure!

I can't believe MK was that empty. That is compltely amazing!

Yes it was awesome, but a little creepy really. I felt like I was in one of the Left Behind movies! :rotfl2:

Gotta love the pooh characters. Don't tell Mickey, but they're my favorite!

I really like them too. They are all so cuddly and sweet!

I had no idea it got dark so early in November in Flordia. That's great! I love the parks at night so much. Do the parks close really early then, or do you just get to enjoy that extended nighttime?

The parks closed at either 8 or 9 every night, except for EMHs nights when they stayed open later. It is great b/c it isn't hot at all. That Florida sun can really drain you. And it is great b/c if you have a hot day, you can go back to the hotel and swim and know that it will be dark by five so you can come back later when it has cooled off.

Great pictures, I'm glad you took advantage of an empty Magic Kingdom!

You know a CM at the Grand Floridian told me that they change all the flowers out every few weeks so that they always look perfect. That's probably why your yard and mine looks nothing like theirs!

Jungle Cruise is a great night ride. It seems spooky riding through there when it's dark, especially the tunnel part.

Congrats to your DD! That is truly wonderful:goodvibes

Thank you!

Yes, try early November out and see what you think. I've never been in Jan. so I can't compare the two. I'd like to know which one is better though.

WELCOME!!!! So glad to have new readers joining in. I hope you can go back and catch up on everything. Feel free to chime in any time even if you aren't caught up. :thumbsup2

Thank you! I was over the moon!

Oh what a great Easter surprise!!! I would love to go for Easter. I think the weather would be nice. I'd love to see the looks on their faces when they find out! So exciting!

A big congrats to DD on the :cheer2:award. What a greaat idea for an award. Beautiful pics as always.

Thank you! I agree. That's the only award they give out. The league is only for young children (elementary school aged) so they don't focus much on athletic ability. Their primary goal is teaching the basics of the game and sportsmanship. It's a great program.

Thank you very much! I've been wondering where you've been! Glad you came back out of hiding.

The sky does seem more blue in Florida, doesn't it? :cloud9:

When we were there at Christmas, those benches were jam-packed and people were standing all over the porch and down the steps. I think you had much better timing than we did. :)

I cannot even imagine the crowds that you encountered over Christmas. You must be very patient. I find it hard to deal with personally. I feel like I am smothering if people get packed in around me like that. How do you deal with that with claustraphobia?!?!

Congratulations to your DD! What a wonderful thing to have been said about her.
I really don't want this to be the last day of your flashback report!!! Any other reports?!:rolleyes1

Thank you! We are very proud of her!

I'm glad you are enjoying the flashbacks. It's nice to know you guys are still out there reading along with me. :) Unfortunatley, I don't have another trip in the works, so there's no TR or PTR in the works either. :sad1: I'm hoping we can do a Disney cruise next year. It all depends on whether I go back to work in the fall and if I get a part time or full time job.

Oh that was just DIRTY!! :rotfl: How many people can say they have a castle down the road!? :worship: You're killin' me!!!!! But that's ok. One day I'll get over there and maybe I'll visit YOUR castle!
Sorry but I couldn't resist :rotfl2: I hope you get to see my country for yourself one day :goodvibes

Our last park day was a VERY busy one! I had lots of plans that would end up taking us to two restaurants, two resorts, one park, and a big party! :woohoo: Whew! I'm tired just thinking about it all!

We started out with breakfast at Chef Mickey's. I saw this place on almost every TR that I had read in the year preceding our trip. I knew we had to make it there and see what all the fuss was about. We were there for about five minutes when it became obvious why everyone loves Chef Mickey's. We decided that there are 5 really good reasons to go: Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, and Pluto!

I'm going to start with my favorite picture from CM. :wizard:

That just makes my heart melt!!

We really enjoyed ourselves at CM. The food was very good and the characters were wonderful! We liked the breakfast pizza and the breakfast Mexican lasagna dish. I don't remember what either of them were actually called but the pizza was topped with bacon, eggs, and cheese and it was VERY good! The lasagna dish was layers of tortillas and roasted vegetables with a salsa topping. It ROCKED! DH and I both loved it.

After a very filling breakfast, we headed back to the resort to relax and rest because we had a long night ahead of us at MVMCP! We ended up taking a nap, which is something we never do on vacation, but after a long week at Disney going like gang busters, we were exhausted.

Feeling rested and refreshed, we decided to go to the Magic Kingdom to watch the only parade that had eluded us so far.

As we waited for the parade to start, some CMs brought out the jump ropes. DD really enjoyed this and earned a little MK jump rope certificate.

Then it was time for the parade to begin. We were very excited to see...........

This is only about 1/4 of the pictures that I took. I got a little snap happy! I couldn't help it though, it's an awesome parade FULL of characters. I only wish that I had chosen a better spot because the lighting was bad for picture taking with the sun/shade line in most of the pictures. We were trying to stay near the exit though since we were leaving right after the parade.

What a wonderful parade. It was one of my favorites of the trip.

We hopped on the monorail as soon as the parade ended. Our glorious destination was waiting across the lagoon.

We had a 4:00 appointment at the Grand Floridian for a private photo session. This was one awesome deal when we did it on '08. It was only $25!!!!!!! They added the pictures right onto our photo pass CD and also burned them to a disc for us to take home right then. Unfortunately, the photo sessions have increased in price quite a bit since we did ours. The last time I checked, it was $75 and they charged $50 to add it to the photo pass CD. I don't know if that information is up to date though.

Our photographer was outstanding and it was worth every penny of the $25 we paid! She did everything that we asked of her and was very patient. We didn't feel rushed at all. And I must say that I HATE having my picture taken, but I cherish these pictures from our first trip. I have several of them framed and people always comment on how beautiful the scenery is. I would highly recommend the private photo session based on our experience. Like I said, I'm not sure about the cost of it now, but if the expense isn't an issue for you, then I would absolutely encourage you to have it done. (There are other resorts available for this as well.)

I took a few pictures of my own as we walked around the GF. These are mine:

Ok, now these are the ones that the photographer took. I ended up with 230 pictures after edits and borders were added! We definitely got our money's worth! I tried to go through and choose one of each pose and background. Some are duplicates but I wanted to show you what kind of borders and special effects you could do also (like making them black and white, sepia tone, etc.).

I had planned for us to wear white shirts with denim bottoms (capris for me and DD, jeans for DH), but the high that day was only 60 degrees so we had to wear our MVMCP clothes. I was still happy with how it turned out though.

We took some pics with our Santa hats on that I bought for the MVMCP! I used some of these for Christmas cards that year.

Ok, I'm not trying to bore you stiff with a gazillion family portraits. I just had a hard time finding good info and picture samples here on the DIS when I was trying to plan my trip. I thought I would help out anyone who is interested in doing this by posting several pictures. Personally, I think it was worth the $75 they charge for it now. I couldn't even hire a photographer here at home to do a private, out of studio photo session for us for anything close to $75. And I don't think the backdrops can be beat!

I'll have to finish up day 8 in my next update. There are just too many pictures from that day to do it all in one!

Coming up next: 1900 Park Fare and MVMCP!

Lovely update!!
I was reading up about the Photopass Private Sessions recently, I'd love to do one with during our honeymoon (June/July 2011!) and use a photo on our wedding thankyou cards... after seeing your pictures, I think we definitely will! I'm planning to stay at the Grand Floridian too :goodvibes ... never stayed there before and it really is my 'dream resort' !! :lovestruc

Emma princess: x

The photo session was great , love the one where the 3 of you are pokeing out from behind the tree with the water in the background :thumbsup2

I am LOVING your flashback pics!!! You got to see lots more Christmas decorations than I did! How great is it to swim in December :thumbsup2

I love all of your MK pics with the park so empty!!! Beautiful! I wanted to ask if you found Crystal Palace to be loud? My in laws may be coming with us in December, and they are a quiet restaurant type people who like to linger and talk when they eat. I was thinking LTT again, but your Crystal pics are so pretty :goodvibes
