My DH was letting the dog out and just as he opened the door he noticed the bear was going through our garbage. Our dog, an American Eskimo(about 22 pounds) darted out the door and chased the bear up the tree!
The bear is just hanging out up in the tree right now, I tried to take a pic (from inside my house)but the flash scared him and he tried to climb higher. I don't want to freak him out so I gave up.
We get turkeys & deer all the time but this is our first bear, I guess it's just life in the mountains.

Too bad you couldn't get a pic. We have a little BobCat cub that was born under our porch (the Mom died having him)
I called DNR but they haven't come out and it has been *2* MONTHS!!! ) He is the sweetest baby - just like a kitty! It is going to really hurt to give him up!
