There is something mildy disturbing about this....

Well, my MIL once spun some yarn made out of the hair of her Keeshound. She did it just to see if she could, since the dog sheds like crazy and she happens to have a spinning wheel. It worked just fine, and it actually made a decent yarn. I don't know if would make a sweater out of it though.

That is as bad as having grandma's remained made into at Diamond Ring.

At first I was picturing one of those fox stoles with the heads still attached, which completely freaked me out. But now that my breathing (and imagination) has returned to normal.

Years ago, my parents had a friend in Israel who spun dog hair into yarn. You obviously need a long haired dog, but as I recall, the yarn was very soft. She didn't shave the dogs or anything, just regularly brushed them.

I wonder if you could do the same thing with persian cats.

Yuck... love my dogs but YUCK :dog2:

Haha! I was thinking the same thing and thinking it was pretty morbid!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Midly disturbing? Yes. Disturbing? Yes. Very disturbing? yes.

But what is more disturbing, the llama on the DOG hair website. am I the only one who noticed that?

I'm sorry but thats more than mildly disturbing!!

I am just rofl over:

A wonderful fur-get-me-not keepsake! Each flower is hand crafted from yarn spun of 100% your pets fur.

Have one from each pet to create a beautiful and everlasting bouquet. !

Oh yes, what a wonderful idea !! ;)

OMG, I just looked at it again and you can actually buy dog yarn if you don't have a dog! You can choose between pure breed dogs and mixed breed dogs! :rotfl:

It's kinda strange. I love my dog, but if I had a scarf made from her fur wouldn't it smell...well kind of doggie?? :rotfl2:

While I do think its a bid odd to have a sweater made out of a dead dog, it all really is no different then spinning fur ( wool) from a rabbit or a llama. The wool grows back and makes wonderful sweaters, mittens, hats etc :rotfl:

With the wool some of my rabbits produce, I would feel awful letting it go to waste and not making a pretty scarf or sweater from it...lol

Here is one of my less fluffy angoras...lol

That's as bad as having your loved one's ashes made into a paperweight.

My sister raises sheep and spins the wool, so she tried spinning dog hair. It is very soft and made her a nice warm shawl--but that thing stinks when it gets wet. :dog2:
