there is no such thing as a table that only seats 3 right?

Ok, so I am feeling a little guilty here, should I? Here is the deal. My SIL lives in Tampa and joins us on our Disney trips whenever possible. But her work schedule is very variable so she might be able to join us for 1 day or she might be able to join us for the whole week but there is no way on knowing until last minute. I am getting ready to make my ADRs for our October trip and I will be making them for 4 - me, DH, DD, and SIL as opposed to just 3 - me, DH, and DD. There is a very good chance that she will not be there for several of the meals. Am I taking anything away from anyone else by doing this? I mean they would have to sit us at a 4 person table whether we are a party or 3 or a party of 4. I just don't want to be taking a precious ADR away from someone else.

I honestly think there is no such thing as a table for 3. I would imagine they would seat you at a table for 4.

We sat at a table for 3 at Crystal Palace one year. All other times the 3 of us were at a table for 4. I think it is fine for you to have the ADRs for 4.

Last year we had an ADR at Le Cellier for 6 and at the last minute my nephew got sick so my sister's family left to go back to the hotel. My DS and I were still given a table with no problem. I think so changes are expected.

I agree with the other posters-most tables are for 4 (not 3) so you should be fine. Today, I changed an ADR from 3 people to 4 and the CM told me, it's a 4 person table anyways, so we don't have to change the ADR number. Basically, I really didn't have to change the reservation. So, I think you're better off reserving for 4 people.

I too, would make my ADR's for 4 people. It's easier to drop a person than to add one.

The only place I've ever been seated at a table for 3 is at 'Ohana.

1) Actually, incorrect.
2) Some restaurants do have 3-person tables that do not seat 4-persons.
3) Typically they are in awkward locations or against walls.

I know sometimes if you ask for an ADR for 3 they will tell you "no" but change it to 4 and they will have it. I'm sure it has to do with keeping occupancy high at certain places.

Don't feel bad about "taking" an ADR from someone else, even if your group of three is seated at a table for four. You are not taking anything away from anyone else.

Wow. I'd be interested in specific instances where there was a table for three. Just because we have requested that before and have always been at a table for four. If there were tables just for three, we would have gladly taken that instead of one for four. Pictures? At Disney World, of course.
