has anyone done a convention at Swan & Dolphin but stayed at the Yacht (or Beach) Club? if so, i'm curious if there is a certain area of the hotel that we should request for our room to make it more convenient for my husband who will have to walk to S&D a few times a day?

From YC, as long as he exits out toward the lagoon, the walk is going to be very similar, and convenient: short, 5-10 minutes at most. I would not worry about location for S/D walking. (Beach Club, you would be a little farther, potentially 3 minutes more -- but I still wouldn't change it for S/D walking.)

Littlecindy, go back a few pages and look at post #3428 and you will see the ideal location if you are staying at the YC. There's a side entrance you walk out and 3-5 minutes later you are at the Swalfin. I would just note on the reservation a request for "room close to Swan/Dolphin" and I think you will get this area (if you are YC). Helen is right though, no matter where you stay, it is only a short walk over to the convention hotel.

Thanks for all the info about the Quiet pools and MBs for Stormalong Bay. I'll just make sure I have my son's MB with me at all times if he won't wear it!

Welcome back Dee,

Hi,

Can anyone tell me if there are TVs at the pool bar? Our pool day is on a Sunday so DH is hoping he can watch some football while the pool.

TIA!

Not sure but I think they added one at Hurricane Hannahs when they refurbed it last year.

Absolutely! the location I was in a couple of weeks ago would be perfect (check it out). From the touring plans website room finder it looks like this would be basically all first floor rooms ending 1-30 (not sure what your view category is). 1007, 1009, and 1011 might be a bit noisy with foot traffic in and out of that door (which is directly opposite from where I drew the red arrow on the map) but I can tell you 1018 was very quiet and pleasant.

Hello everyone,

I leave in one week! We have been planning this trip for a year since our honeymoon their last Sept! I'm so excited. We are staying at BCV with family. I have heard a lot of people refer to a sunken treasure drink? Can I ask what it is and where I can find it? I would also appreciate any advice for this upcoming trip. ( myself, dh, mil, bil, 2nd bil, sis & niece)

Thanks!
Beth

Please check out post #17 of this thread. About halfway down the post you will find pictures, how to make one and other details. :drinking1

Asked this on another thread, but thought I should ask here :):

(due to recent reports of crowded MK buses from Beach Club)

If MK is an EMH morning with an 8 am opening and we are at Beach Club bus stop around 6:45 am :faint:, chances are pretty good we'll get on first bus that comes? Or should we walk over to Yacht Club to get on bus first?

thanks! 57 days!!

My guess is at that time of morning you will not be dealing with full buses at either resort. My experience with MK EMH is that when we have been out at the Beach Club bus stop around 7:30 am, we have always arrived at MK before or just after the opening show. I think once a bus was full, but another was right behind. We typically do the MK EMH, so we have done this about 5 times.

:thumbsup2

:woohoo: 28 days:disrocks:28 days to go, getting down to the details. How is turn down service at Beach Club? Do I request it at check in? Daily? When and what do they traditionally do?

At club level, turndown included folding down the sheets, chocolates on pillow and pulling out the daybed (I think if we requested that). Not sure if there was anything else.

:)

I just stayed at the YC over the weekend. After staying at BC last fall, I decided I preferred the rooms at YC. I'd read some reports that they were slightly rundown, but our room was in great shape (not true of our BC room last year), and we had better mousekeeping service at YC. We were in room 3114, I believe it was, and it was a garden view corner room. There was a staircase right beside our room, and when we peeped out the door on the ground level, we could see the umbrella tops at a quiet pool. I went there Saturday afternoon, and it was nice and relaxing. We enjoyed our late breakfast at Cape May Saturday morning - I love their chorizo scrambled eggs, cheese grits, and Mickey waffles with syrup, whipped cream, and chocolate chips! My favorite place for Mickey waffles. Sunday we had an 11:05 ADR at Beaches and Cream, and it was delicious as ever. Since we were there so early, there was no problem getting a booth, and our server, Galina, was quite nice. Stormalong Bay was super fun, of course, and my three year old nephew loved the sandy kids area much more this year, and he spent an hour sliding down the kids slide. Wish we could stay there again in October, but it's to Coronado Springs that trip.

The only slight annoyance was when I left for the Villains Unleashed event a bit after 4 on Saturday afternoon, the clouds were rolling in and it had just announced that boat service would be on hold. I went back up to the room for a poncho and then to the bus stop, and every other possible bus came before the DHS one did (Epcot came twice!), so it was quite a wait. Good thing I went for the poncho because the rain blew all over under the bus stop cover and I would have got soaked without it. Bus service is hit or miss no matter what resort you're at though.

Thanks so much for the review of our trip. Glad you had a great time. I have heard similar complaints about the organization of the Villains party!

:goodvibes

Just back from BC and our kids are already planning our next stay there!

Loved the location, pool and rooms. Beds and pillows were so comfy. Loved the fact that we could walk into Epcot on a whim.

Thank you for all the advice (especially the tip about taking mug into world showcase to transfer adult beverages into - used this one a few times).

Helen

Thanks for letting us know you had a great time!

:goodvibes

Hello from the Yacht Club. We have been having a great time. Only bad, 40 minute wait for a bus from MK last night. It was raining and we saw 4 Pop buses come and go while our line became huge. People were pretty angry when all could not fit on the bus that did finally arrive. Other than that, no issues with the bands and we have a great standard room overlooking a huge tree and the front drive on the one side. So no real parking lot view, so we are good. We have both walked and rode the boat to both Epcot and HS. Leaving the Villains event was crazy too. They ended up sending one boat after the other when our huge crowd was waiting for the boat for over 30 minutes. It was an ok event, way too crowded and ran out of limited T shirts before 7:30pm. I would not pay that much again and unless it is a lot less crowded and have more value, I would not go again.

Sorry so long. Hope all are enjoying the end of the month.

Glad to hear your trip is going well!

We had a view like that at the BC- large tree blocking parking lot view.

I have to agree with you about the bus from MK to the resort. I don't know what the wait is typically like because normally we take the monorail to EPCOT. Not because it is quicker (it's not) but because we enjoy the journey and find something to do in EP on our way to BC. But last Tuesday, it was just too darned hot for all that walking, so I decided to use the bus. I waited 30 minutes before one showed up (and that was only because Janet and her DH came along with her good bus karma).

The line for the BW bus was pretty long, too.

::yes::

We just received our Magic Bands for our stay at Beach Club Sept. 21-27. Now it seems very real to me. All the time and energy put into planning is beginning to pay off. I am getting so excited!

This will be our first stay at a deluxe and first trip back to Disney since 2000.
An all girls trip! I think we are going to be so happy to have selected Beach Club, from all my research it appears absolutely fabulous! :goodvibes

Hope everyone has safe travels and a wonderful vacation.

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list.

:cool1:

Yikes, I didn't think about that! What about infants?

Just in case you haven't posted here before, :welcome:

With the infants, if you have a band, it is probably best to keep it with you for SAB.

:thumbsup2

I just posted pics of the temporary BC CL lounge on the CL thread. Not sure if anyone has posted those yet. We just got back last night.

Eeeek! Checking into YC tomorrow! This has been a crazy week with family drama and overwhelming work stuff, so we are feeling very unprepared. But, once we get there and I have a drink in my hand things will be A-OK! :thumbsup2
