I feel for all our buddies that are at FtW this morning. Sleep, they are not getting right now (especially those in tents or pop-ups). We are experiencing a horrible storm at the moment (6:30am, 12/16).

We truly need rain here in Central Florida - but not all in one storm, and we can do without the high & gusting winds.:scared1:

I'm especially thinking about Dreambound, and praying she & and her family are all battened down & safe in their tents.

Deb

(BTW, Otters LOVE this kind of weather!)

Here at the settlement end, we've been pretty fortunate.... nothing really rough. Little rain, light winds, some pinestraw blown around and such but we were lucky not to have the big storms other parts of the state have had.....

sidenote..... some camper took the blown-down pinecones, and made a Mickey head out of them! :thumbsup2

Too cute.

Here in Buffalo we're getting 20"of snow and a blizzard. Somehow, I'd rather be at the Fort.....

Do you know what day she's supposed to leave? If she's been there a week already maybe she headed home yesterday? Or since she's in a tent, she'll get the traditional send-off of soaking equipment to pack up today.

I wish everyone a safe, happy visit at the fort....however it is hard right now to find much sympathy for someone experiencing a thunderstorm.....We are getting 6-10" of snow today. I've shoveled the sidewalk 3 times already today:mad:

As a former "Buffalonian" I know snow.... however, may I offer some advice.... wait til it has finished snowing & the plows are all done... then shovel! Better yet, find a greedy 10-13 year old kid & pay them to shovel! Or best yet.... get yourself down to FtW, pronto!!!!

I hope noone lost an anwing. A few trips back, what I thought was a light rain storm took out our awning. When it happened it got me wondering if the fort had an awning graveyard. Replacement parts are hard to come by since the factories want you to buy a whole new awning.

You Figured It Out, The Secret Is Now Known What Happened To River Country..... It Is The Awning Graveyard, Where All Dead Awnings Go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Brilliant Brilliant

That must also be where the shoes from the "Shoe Tree" went.

Do you suppose that's where all the peacocks are hiding out?:confused3

You haven't seen snow in 34 years!

LIAR!!!! It snowed every single one of the eight days we were there for your DD's wedding!!! Therefore.... it has been 6 years and 9 months since I've seen snow!

This is the snow we got yesterday. The shovel is over 4 feet tall. This was not even a major storm. When it's really bad the snow at the end of the driveway is taller than I am. Merry Christmas :santa:

Since you were talking about awnings, summer before last we were driving back to Pa from Ia and I hit the WORST :scared1: windstorm I have ever driven in. We were doing about 25mph and some guy pulled up beside us beeping and pointing. I pulled over to see our 24' awning frame sticking out at a 45 degree angle and no awning to be seen. Both arms were bent back and I couldn't get them to fold up. SOOO in the middle of the storm, I am out there with my cordless driver taking screws and bolts off. (the camper was leaning towards me and all the water from the roof was rolling right down my back) Well after I got all the pieces off, I had no place that I could put them. So if you are looking for parts try the side of I80 between Toledo and Cleveland.

I checked the little lever when it happened, it was in the roll up position. So when we went to camping world for replacement, I bought this really cool reusable zip tie thing that has threads and a nut. I put it up as high as possible on the arm in front. I even remembered to take it off when we traded the coachmen in for the montanna.

Just a little rambling because I am board.:rolleyes1

We just got back from 10 days at the fort and were blessed with great weather.

It was our first ever camping trip in a tent and I must say that it was ok, but I didnt care for it. We may try it again in May.
