There are advantages to the new computer system

Today my BFF and I had to make a conference call to MS to add her DS and DDIL to the GV ressie. It was MUCH easier with the new system, and we were able to do it all easy as pie! The MS castmember said that as people get used to the new system she thinks everyone will like it better. I forgot to ask if there was a way to hold reservations while it was being booked.

I think on the DIS you must use the term "DBFF".

Stupid question, Diane, but why did you need a conference call to do that? Were you combining points with another member on the reservation?

LOL! Okay...I think... Anyway, because the reservation was made half with my points and half with her points, we had to have a conference call to modify anything. I was a bit surprised that we needed to do that when all we were doing was adding two people, but evidently they have to "unlink" linked reservations to make any changes at all. I was quite nervous that we would lose the GV during that time, but she assured me we wouldn't. The other thing that would normally be a complication is that the couple we added is going to be flying in and using DME. The rest of us are driving, so NO DME. The castmember simply changed the address on the ressie so the DME couple will get the luggage tags sent to them.

She said all of this process is MUCH simplified for them with the new system. Maybe IT got something right for a change. I suspect there will be a few glitches as they get people used to using it though.

I think that there is. I recently booked 2 studio at GCV at the 7 month window. I already had one booked for a Thursday arrival, but we couldn't book the other. When I called the next day for a Friday arrival, both were available. It took about half an hour to book (with me sitting on hold) mostly because I also wanted to rent 6 points from DVC. No problem with finalizing both reservations and the CM said it was because she had held them. -- Suzanne
