This entirely theoretical, and likely won't happen but wondering other parents thoughts, who have BTDT.

Our next disney trip will be one month before DH and I 20th Anniversary, so I was hoping just mom and dad could get an anniversary dinner, maybe in Epcot or MK. DD will be 15, and DS will be 7. Think they would be able to check out the (same) park for an hour or so, or will CM's be wondering where their parents are?

She has babysat him here at home but she gets nervous so this probably will NOT happen because we wouldn't want to stress either of them out on our vacation.

Just thinking out loud.....

I think the requirement is that anyone under 14 must be accompanied by someone over 14. So they should be fine on that front. They may be stopped and asked their ages.

no worries. Kids have to be 7 to go on rides alone. They have to be 14 to enter and exit a park alone. As long as they stay in the same park you are fine.

To clarify they not only need to be in the same park, but they need to stay together!

I often went off with my brother alone. It was fun. We are six years different, so we were probably 8 and 14.

no they don't. At 7 a child can go on a ride alone. So why would they have to stay together. The parents might want them to, but Disney isn't going to make them.

I would have no issue with my kids exploring together at those ages. Why does it stress your 15 year old to watch her sibling? Has something happened in the past that makes her nervous?

Oh no, she's just neurotic ;)

Also I am quite convinced she is plotting his destruction most days (sibling rivalry).

Then again, by the time we go they may want to go galavanting together and they will really enjoy it.

Thanks for the answers! Glad we wouldn't be breaking any disney laws.

I would be fine with it. maybe plan their FP for this time for things they would both like and give them money for CS food and or a fun snack. Of course I assume they would have a cell phone but beyond that , they should be just fine.

Here's the official rule from the WDW website:

Guests under age 14 must be accompanied by a Guest age 14 or older to enter the park. To board an attraction, children under age 7 must be accompanied by a person age 14 years or older."

They would be fine! It sounds like fun!

A couple of year ago, our kids had a great time exploring World Showcase while DH and I sat in Germany and enjoyed a beer or two. They were 13, 11, and 6 at the time and they were fine.

We did this is the days before cell phones, I'm sure your kids will be fine for a few hours with no issues at all.

I would think it would be fine. When I was in jr. high we had annual passes to Disneyland and our parents dropped us off for the day. Although that is no longer possible a few hours while you are in the park would be fine.

I'd do it as long as you trust the 7 year old to listen to the 15 year old. Your other option is to let your 15 year old go on her own but put the 7 year old into one of the kid club places. Enjoy your anniversary!!!
