ThemePark Splendid China ?

$600,000 is a regular 4 bedroom house in Florida these days

I'm not so sure I'd go that far. You can find four bedroom homes in the mid-$300's without looking too hard in good neighborhoods. Belle Isle is excluded of course...

ok, maybe I was exaggerating a bit, but it seems to be that bad

Anne , about a mile further down that sand hill road on the left. Yep,
they were truely 600,000 all the way up to over a million dollars.

Further down on the left about another half mile is Rolling Hills and on the
right is Indian Creek *not Indian Ridge* . These were investment short term rentals.

I know this for a fact because we were riding around looking for homes and turned in there , It was gated and we went oops what do we do now , but
a car was ahead of us and the gate opened so on in we went. We rode
around looking for 4 sale signs and found quite a few, but realized right
away , that we were way out of our price range. We did get out and got
a few of the flyers that were in the for sale boxes and our eyes popped out
of our heads. OUR next worry was how do we get out , *we do not have gated communities here in Minnesota* so we sort of panicked. But
saw the mailman and asked him , he laughed really loud and said ,,
Just pull up and it will open for you.. He said this was not the first time
people like us have asked him this. Whew ..

So yes, there are very expensive homes down that road. I believe its called
the first phase of "formosa" gardens.

I do have the flyers , so pm me if you like a few addresses to Zillow.

Wow, you really know your stuff. My sister who is a realtor said the same thing when we were looking for a home when I thought we were moving.

Aren't you also the same gal whose family owned property in the Outer Banks or some place like that? (Sorry, if I am confusing you with someone else if you aren't.)

Sorry you must have me confused with someone else. What is the "Outer
Banks " ?

That whole area is such a mixed bag. The downside of owning a million dollar house close to Splendid China is the fact that there are a lot of neighborhoods that are short term rentals and you get people constantly moving in and out and it becomes so transient.
Orange County cracked down on the short term rental deal about 7-8 years ago. Nothing less than 7 months and many areas will only write a 12 month lease.

All of those houses that sit behind Splendid China originally sold for 100K. The people that were smart enough to buy into there and now rent them out for 2-3 grand a week are cleaning up!!

I know that Spirited Away was a Japanese movie, but those pictures of Splendid China really remind me the bizarre place (I think it was an abandoned theme park??) that in the movie the girl and her family came upon. Her parents were turned into pigs. Weird movie. And that Splendid China looks like a weird theme park.
