I am hosting a bridal shower for my soon to be daughter-in-law. I have purchased enough door prizes for everyone to win something. I would now like to do a few "large" door prizes. I wanted to make a few themed baskets if I can do so somewhat inexpensively.

First, I am looking for some ideas for baskets (excluding bath and lotion products as that basket is already done). Second, I have a package of Tastefully Simple Cheese Ball mix and also the Trio of Dips. What can I add to these to make a themed basket?

DH votes for beer bread in TS basket. I would get some fanier cracjers to go with cheese ball but I love the dang stuff anyway.

It's very common in this area done at both baby/bridal showers. Everyone who is in attendance has their name into a pot so to speak and the bride or future mother picks names.

I bought enough door prizes so each guest will receive one. I hit Target the day after Thanksgiving and bought several coffee makers, crock pots, toasters, mixers, etc. for $4 each. They are going to make wonderful door prizes. I spent a lot of time looking for items the day after Xmas too. Got some wonderful buys. I have friends hoping they will be one of the first picks cuz they are all gunning for the coffee makers.

This is why I read the Dis--I learn a lot! This is not a custom in my part of the country. It sounds like great fun though. Also down here, friends (of the bride or her mother or MIL-to-be) usually host the bridal showers instead of family members. I love hearing how things are done elsewhere.

We do baskets like this for the fund raising auction at my kids school. I am getting some great ideas. :)

I am hosting one too & we are doing baskets-everyone gets a ticket when they arrive & throughout the shower we will ask questions about the bride & groom -also special dates, wearing the same color as the future bride? This gives them the opportunity to collect tickets & then they can put their tickets in for the basket of their choice-(chinese auction) and pull a ticket from there-SO many ideas for baskets!!! All instead of playing games...:goodvibes

For your Tastefully Simple basket - add a crock or dip bowl for the cheese mixes and some spatulas or spreaders along with some different kind of crackers.

Sounds like great showers you all are planning. :thumbsup2

you could also do a Pampered Chef Basket. pick up a few smaller items, like the mixing bowl and the spatula and then add a $10 gift card. Works out well if you know a consultant!
