Theme Parks you visited that no longer exist

We had Sea Arama in Galveston. Like a tiny little Sea World. They had dolphin shows and an aligator (croc?) show and lots of other sea creatures to look at. Its been gone for a very long time now.

Here are some Tx ones that are gone. Anyone remember them?
Wet n Wild in Garland - even before that, it used to be White Water. Became a glorified day care and they were only making money from season passes and went out of business. I remember the last time I went - it was so run down, I remember telling my nephew to enjoy it because they won't be open next summer. I was right. That's too bad. Memorable rides, the Dragon's tail, the Black Hole, White Lightening.

Sesame Place in Irving - I hear people on these boards mentioning one (is it in Pennsylvania?) and it makes me with they still had ours here. My kids would have loved it. I think the last time I went was in 1985 when I was in fifth grade. Don't know when it closed down.

And even further back in time...Pennywhistle Park in Dallas. All indoors with only kiddie rides. There were these little wooden nickles you had to pay to get on the ride with. I barely remember this place, so it probably closed when I was like 4 or 5.

Don't remember that one, but I did just remember Aquarena Springs in San Marcos, Texas. Remember the swimming pig? They also had glass bottomed boats.

Nunleys!

The famous carousel in Baldwin NY (Long Island) by my grandparents. The carousel is famous because it is completely hand painted. I remember all the rides there and my Grandma (who is really spunky) going on the little kids rollercoaster with me because my sister was too young. I loved that place!

I loved the carousel there, too. It's probably responsible for my need to collect carousel horses!

The mini golf was pretty good, too. One time, I remarked "I wonder what happens when you get the ball in the clown's nose?" and two second later, I did it. Bells rang and I got tickets for free mini golf.

I'm another DISer who remembers CIRCUS WORLD. What fun!! DH, who has a terrible fear of heights, walked on the highwire there. Our DD's were made up like clowns. Really a cute park.

Also remember BOARDWALK AND BASEBALL--but it didn't make too much of an impression on me.

Anyone here from Cleveland who remembers EUCLID BEACH? That goes back a few years!

I remember the Land of Oz in Banner Elk, NC. It was like ging down the yellow brick road with Dorothy and her friends. IT still opens once a year, sponsored by WoO fans.

The Miracle Strip in Panama City. They're trying to take away all of the hotels and replace them with condos, now no amusement park!

I used to love going to Miracle Strip and Shipwreck Island as a kid. Is Shipwreck still there???

I am also one who didn't know Opryland had closed we used to make day trips up there from Birmingham when I was a kid. I loved all the water rides. Now I may just be going crazy but did Opryland have kind of a haunted house that you rode in canoes to go through. It was kind of a monster house type of thing. I remember it so clearly but don't remember if it was there or not.

Here is a good website that has maps and stuff from all kinds of parks from past years and stuff. Went here trying to see if my Opryland haunted house thing is just a Figment in my head.

Someone mentioned Sea World Ohio.

I do miss that place as well. That was one of my favorite places as an adult with my younger son. We had a great time there. We went when it was Six Flags a few years ago, and we cried! There was so much things that had gone downhill, we literally sat on a bench and cried. There was trash in the penguin tank (with the penguins! GRR!), the beautiful Seaworld landscaping was gone to pot, and in some instances there was some food stands with the Seaworld name still on them even though it was a Six Flags park. -the awning had ripped so whatever was covering it fell off.

We took pictures of the trash in the penguin tank, the ripped awning, the landscaping and sent it to Six Flags President with a scathing letter. The next year it was announced that Cedar Faire was buying the place.

And the older (not newer) Geauga Lake as well.
Yes, Geauga lake became six flags, and is now back to Cedar Faire Geauga Lake, but it isn't the same.

We used to go to Riverside, in Agawam, MA. when I was a kid. That closed many years ago and was turned into a Six Flags.

It looks like Shipwreck Island is still there. I was told about the Miracle Strip recently and went to the website, nope it rolls you right on over to Shipwreck

Lincoln Park-now a dog track
Paragon Park-now condos
Whalom Park-I think theres a web site trying to save it.
Kings Castle-the dragaon was still there a few years ago.

Also, there was a park at Revere Beach years ago....not sure of the name.

I remember a bunch of small local parks. Adventures Inn, I thought Action Park reopened as Mountain Creek, or are they two different places?

Adventures Inn is still there! Though its called Adventureland now but its alive and kicking and still in good shape, they get new rides each year! I take my daughter there several times a year.
Action park is now Mountain Creek
I remember taking my godson to Nunleys-now that was a dump toawrds the end!
I also remember going to someplace in the Poconos...I think it was called Magic Mountin or something like that back in the early 80's.

My mother said we used to go a park in Bronx/Yonkers but i don't remeber it.
There was also Palisades Amusement park in N.J.- I can still sing the commercial that was on the radio!
My local favorite was Rockaway playland. Talk about unsafe rides they had an old wooden roller coaster with just a small bar on your lap. I surprised we never fell out!

We went to Frontiertown Town in upstate New York the last year they were open. You can see everything was 50 years old and nothing changed. There was abondanded hotels and restaurants nearby. In it's hey day of the 50's & 60's you can see it was very big. There was about 100 people the day we were there. It was so odd it was fun.

I think the North Pole closed also. Do you rember Gaslight Village on the main street in Lake George? Or Storytown? which is now the Great Escape.
They still have the the old Storytown within the park. It's fun to see the 50 year old scenery amony the big new rides.

I think it was just called the Log Flume. That's what we always called it. It was the first ride we always scrambled to get on. By the time we got off the ride and walked around and was almost dried, we were in line for The Cannonball.

I see you're a big Lucy fan. Your Mine & OUrs was one my favorite movies.
I bought the DVD at Target for $10.00 My family and friends have given my every I love Lucy item, from games, blankets, dolls. etc.
The Lucille Ball museum at Universal was the only think I liked there.
I wish they had outside the park.

Yes, I remember that from when I was a little kid and I do recall seeing some things left there when I went to Great Escape! We have old home movies of us there when we were little!

Yes!!!

We lived in Ohio for only a short time when I was young, but my Dad worked for Westinghouse and they have several company days there.

What a great roller coaster! My sister, brother and I would ride it over and over again. I also remember the fun house there being different than any I'd seen before.

There is a book in our library called something like "Euclid Park is Closed for the Season". Very interesting history of the park.

We also liked Boardwalk & Baseball in Orlando. They had a decent coaster.

Another vote for Opryland USA! I'm STILL not over the closing of it. My dad went back there a couple years ago and said that the majority of the park where all the beautiful trees once were, has now been transformed to a parking lot and outlet mall. So sad..... The musical talent at Opryland was top notch.

I don't get why they have the old water log ride still standing. My cousins friend did a search to find out where all the rides went. The roller coaster is at Old World near WDW. One ride is sitting out in a field in Michigan. The carousel is next to a gas station in Wisconsin. They must of had an auction or something when they dismantled the place.
