Theme parks hope to strike gold with offerings aimed at 'ultra-affluent'

This has been in the mind of WDW execs for a while. They had been planning to add an "Affluent plan" to resort stays (think Platinum plan, but 100% all-inclusive anything you want at any resort with a personal planner). The economy tanked and they scrapped that plan (for now), but construction is tougher to change your mind on.

1) We went over to view the sites.
2) We thought this is a good spot for our second million-dollar-home.
3) We can't afford the first one, so we are working on the second one.

Actually, Celebration was originally much cheaper (most houses about $200k), but people bought in as investments and resold for twice as much right away.

Celebration was designed as a full-time residential community, with a mix of housing types. Not cheap, but mostly upper middle class.

Golden Oaks is designed as a vacation home community, targeted solely (as the Sentinel put it) to the "super-affluent."

Compared to most of the world, anyone who can afford a Disney vacation is "super affluent."

But this takes it to a whole new level.

I wonder how many people who have Affluenza want a vacation home at Disney...I guess we'll find out.
