Has anyone noticed how hard it is to use
the Disney Entrance & Exit Turn Styles

As we were entering the park - I noticed an Older Lady with a Cane
trying to use the turn style.. She almost didn`t make.. I know that
she should have asked to use the gate. But the CM didn`t offer
her the choice.

We are just a little over the average size - we weigh in around 175 lbs
and we both have trouble using the turnstyles (especially with our kids)

More and More people (adults and children) are larger these days
It is getting harder and harder to get your finger & card scanned
to get inside with kids and stuff - Why doesn`t Disney come up
with a better idea? (to get in and out of the WDW Theme Parks)

They really need to do away with the Dumb Finger Scan
Especially for Disney Annual Pass Holders

They should go back to Photo ID Plastic
Credit Card Style - Yearly Annual Pass

We mentioned this to a Cast Member yesterday at Epcot
as we were leaving and he suggested a call/note to Disney

We didn`t have time to go back to Guest Services
so I thought I would post this here & later send them
a letter with follow ups from other Dis Board Members..

Questions:

Do you think the Entrance/Exit TurnStyle are small
Do you think they really need TurnStyles at EXITS

Do you like the Old Style Photo ID Annual Pass
Do you like the new Finger Scan - Annaul Pass

The Ticket and Annual Pass is the Counter

They use the turnstyles to get a count of people going in. You will notice that if they open the gate for a mom and child in a stroller, they will turn the turnstyle 2 times to keep the count as accurate as possible. I'm sure there is better technology though. I didn't find them too small. I am 6' and weigh 220 and didn't find them at all small.

Annual passes had finger scans long before other kinds of tickets did.

I remember a photo ID Disney pass (I still have one, kept as a souvenir) The picture was black and white. The primary instant color photography technologies today are: Polaroid (still), quite expensive; color laser printing, not exactly cheap; and inkjet, which smears when wet. All would require spending time in line similar to at the registry of motor vehicles.

One step at a time. Do the finger scan and wait for the green light. Then pick up your ticket from the slot just behind. Then walk through. You have plenty of time to stop and transfer a cane from one hand to the other if you wish, so you can keep your balance. You can even lean on the sides of the turnstile.

Yes, they need to have turnstyles at the exits ... turnstyles count people going in, they also count the people going out.

I never thought about the turnstiles until I saw a lady get stuck in the one in front of us at the bottom of the Tomorrowland Transit escalator - she was so embarassed, and I felt so bad for her :grouphug: She wasn't even that big, but there was no way she was going to fit and had to back out.

So I agree, I think they need to widen those suckers up! :thumbsup2

I don't really mind the AP finger scan, though we've been behind plenty of "regular" pass people who see people putting their fingers in the scanner and so they do it too and never put their pass in the reader so it won't let them through and it holds up the line!

I disagree...I think the turnstyles are big enough for even overweight people...those that can't fit through are extremely overweight. I suggest that they ask the cast member allow them through the "stroller/wheel chair gate", and also add a couple of extra years to their lives by trying to loose some weight. I know it certainly isn't easy at the parks.I'm a Weight Watcher....have lost 28 lbs....gained 3 back during a visit....all that walking still doesn't help not to gain when you overeat..or eat the wrong things..I just about lose those 3 lbs gained, and I'm back for another WDW trip...and they come back on (my fault...but I feel when I'm on vacation I should be able to splurge alittle)...it' been a seesaw in weight since my Oct. vacation. I'm determined to lose those 3 lbs and more before my April trip, this was all just to let you know I"m not one of those "skinny" people talking...just believe we are all overeating and/or eating unhealthy fatty, sugary foods in large portions. If they keep making entry ways bigger to accommodate the growth in people's sizes...we'll eventually have to have a turnstyle that a car could get through.
