Theme Parks during Mardi Gras?

Has anyone been to Disney World during Mardi Gras? If so, is it packed? We would like to avoid crowds and long lines. Any suggestions from Disney regulars would be greatly appreciated? Thank you!

We were there last week, and it was pretty busy. There were also dance team and cheerleading competitions there, which definitiley affected crowds. I wish I would gave had a dollar for everyone I saw on Fat Tuesday with a Mardi Gras or LSU shirt on, though...I would be rich!!!

I would avoid going if Mardi Gras coincides with President's week, which was not the case this year. Last week I think in addition to Mardi Gras escapees, there were people who did Disney after the Superbowl, the cheerleader groups, some conventions and a lot of people from England. I read somewhere or these boards schools in England were out last week.
It was busy for value season but so much better than spring break time and many summer weeks.

I think that if Mardi Gras does not coinside with anything else, then you are O. K. Next year, however, it is on Feb. 28th and you will likely be sharing the parks with early spring breakers. Also, it will probably not be value season, as that usually coinsides with President's Week.
