THEME PARK EXTRA (PILOT) - COMING TO DVC ?

And if you go elsewhere, it is easy to find threads of DVC owners having tantrums about how UNFAIR it is that Disney make this available to PEOPLE WITH MONEY and not DVC.

...because DVC is a background checked, elite club that has nothing to do with being willing to pay.

Yeah, sorry, I hijacked that thread and started the conversation there. Moving it here makes more sense to me though. The two are just related in terms of his FP plans are quickly changing.

And, with that said, I could see DVC being the next logical step in trying it out, if it moves past club level. I personally think, and this is just my own speculation, that it will be a hit with club level guests - what's another $50 on top of the $600+ they are paying for a night? At that point the time/money equation tips way too much in favor of getting the service. After that, though, Disney will find that it will actually shorten the average trip of most people. They will be able to get more done in less time, lessening the need to stay and spend money for multiple days.
DVC makes sense as the next place to try as a trial for two reasons. The rooms are already paid for so they do not lose any income if we stay a shorter amount of time, and many DVC members are also AP holders due to the good deals on discounts on them, so they will not lose ticket income either. With that, DVC members most likely spend less on dining and souvenirs than the typical guest as well. It makes sense for them to see if DVC members who take advantage of the service ending staying for less time, and if they find that to not be the case, then opening it up to all deluxe resorts, deluxe and moderate, etc.

I personally doubt that this trial will continue in its current format, though. It is too much for too little financial trade off. If it was only one or two of the 90 day booking window, extra FPs, multiple park FPs, or preferred fireworks seating, I could see the trade off working, but not all of them.

"Do you know who I am!? I paid a lot for this contract! I'm special!"

No, it makes my DVC membership worth less. When I wake up on that ungodly hour 60 days out to get my FP+ done, I may find that there are none left for the major rides. I can't pay for the upgrade because it isn't offered. What I can do it sell my membhership or rent out the pounts and pay for a different room at a different resort. Now THAT is an awesome reasonable benefit for the 10s of thousands of dollars that we've given to WDW.

Then let me pay. I joined in 1994 - give us the option to pay for the perk.

Oh, I am certainly thinking the same thing. I am not going to be paying $2000 extra each trip just so I don't get butt in line. If this system expands too much, I am selling for sure.

Well, as others have pointed out, by restricting it to Club Level they are limiting eligibility.

But are they? Or will there be more detailed instrucitons on how to book a Club Level throwaway room? Inconceviable* to me that Disney hasn't figured out how to wipe out the FP+ on day 2 or 3 when the guest doesn't check-in and PAY for the room.

* Not unbelievable because their IT systems are horrible.

I am suspecting they are testing it at the club level and may roll it out to other guests at a later date. I think eventually everyone will have the chance to over pay for fast-passes if they chose to do so.

This means nothing to Disney. Disney already got their money for the points your own. They get their maint fees now and will continue to get their maint fees on your points from you or whoever owns your points. If you don't pay your fees then they will eventually get some extra points to sell and in the mean time they can freeze your points and have more rooms to rent for cash. If this causes the price or resale to fall, well then Disney can pick up some cheap points in rofr to sell at full price to some guest that does not know any better. Have you looked at what Disney is raises their direct prices to on some of the sold out DVC's?

And then FP lines will get longer and longer which means more time in a line instead of the park. Hate this idea.

Lets not forget they are adding some Non Disney hotels to the 60 days fast passes as well. If we want a fast-pass, we will have to make sure we are online booking as soon as it is available. Or start doing rope drop.

I am thinking since the price is so steep, it may not spread as much. $50.00 for 3 fast passes is not worth it for me.
