After reading the thread about the death in the Contemporary Resort, I got to thinking about what we were told about Disney deaths/ accidents by one of the local cab drivers in Orlando just a few weeks ago. I hate to be morbid, but I guess I found it somewhat interesting too. He told us that Disney purposely tries to keep any deaths out of the public spotlight because they don't want bad publicity (makes sense). He said there are many more deaths in the parks that you don't hear about because of this, but it seems to get around to the Orlando locals.
For instance, he told us that there have been several deaths in the Haunted Mansion. This is because the ride moves along a platform track upward and there's actually a 3-story drop (no solid flooring like you'd think). He said that people have tried to move from one doombuggy to another and they have fallen 3 stories down. He said that one guest in particular got out of his doombuggy to walk over and try to steal the crystal ball and fell 3 stories to his death. When this happens, they have to shut the ride down temporarily, turn on all the lights and take care of the accident. Can you imagine!? Has anybody heard of any weird accidents happening like this? I thought it was spooky/eerie that there are so many in the Haunted Mansion in particular. Y'all just remember... don't get out of your doombuggy and try to walk around!!!
*Just wanted to add* He said that most of the deaths/accidents are due to people not following proper safety instructions (standing up on rides, getting out, etc.)
